Why shouldn't the devs be paid? if they beleived in there coin they would just mine themselves or buy at launch instead of just trying to make a easy buck.. might work but every other premine has failed.. at the price now the early investors have already doubled there money.. If you wanted a coin for asic resistance VTC has said they will adjust to never be able to be asic mined.. this brings voting to a currency good idea but not groundbreaking.. UTC also same idea premine with fast transfers asic resistant its stagnant as well with other premines.. like i said it has potential sad that developers decided to go with a premine alot of people wont even touch it.. also they wanted to be a cpu only mined coin and now that has been instantly broken give it another hit because it proves that even there great devs didnt see that as possible on release

This coin definitely has potential, and I too suspect it will spawn the next wave of coins. Once asic's take over scrypt mining, where are all of the gpu miners going to go? X11? perhaps for some time, until that gets taken over by asic. I get that nothing is asic-proof, but, in my limited understanding, asic's beat out gpu's at aleast in part by hashing more for less energy. If heavycoin can maintian a low energy profile it might be less appealing to try and implement asic's for HVC.
I think as a community we need a strong effort to raise awareness and vote down the block rewards, substantially. We should try to extend the mint phase for at least 1 year. I believe this would require a block reward of around 100-150 HVC. This would give the community more time to get the word out about heavycoin and allow HVC to show off its GPU friendly features through those warm summer months. Also, allowing more time for the coin to gain acceptance in marketplaces. And ideally, pick up more value.
The voting is a double-edged sword. As easily as we could extend the minting of this coin it could, just as easily, be shortened. At it's current rate of mint it is possible that this coin could be nothing more than a fart in the wind. 52 days until the end of mint phase (at current vote), is too short a time. So it matters not, if you are a whale or a shrimp, if you mine with GPU's it is in your best interest to see HVC succeed, lower power bills and cooler cards benefit all GPU's everywhere.
Of course this is just my 2 satoshi.

The low energy use and cool running cards are a great benefit to GPU mining in general. Pfizer developed Viagra as a blood pressure medicine, which it did poorly. However, it is one of the best selling ED drugs on the market. Should they have junked it because it didn't preform as expected, even though it did something else remarkably well?

thanks all troll now i have more cheap coin]
I guess stating facts about a coin is trolling now.. or maybe the price dropped from a understanding of a coins value ? If argument of power consumption, heat and a not caring if its a premine that draws you to HVC.. wouldnt a fully premined coin be an obvious choice over HVC? Where you woulndt have to use power at all..

If argument of power consumption, heat and a not caring if its a premine that draws you to HVC.. wouldnt blackcoin or some fully premined coin be an obvious choice over HVC? Where you woulndt have to use power at all.. 1. You may be right, but this coin is bright example how premine should be handled and what its good for. And even if it was spended only by devs, they deserve it for what they did. Take it or leave it. 2. Its nice attitude, until there is costly machine behind Your back begging for attention. Furthermore it is like saying "You can trade ForEx instead".

I was just trying to figure out why people think this specific coin is greater than the others that are currently available..Im just looking at say 2-3 years from now people would say this was the best idea and its why it succeeded over all the others..

Anyone got a version of BAMT that can mine this, or can any of the included Cgminer version in 1.6 work ?

I'm pretty sure those miners don't support heavycoin. You either have to get a cgminer compiled for linux/bamt or compile it yourself. But you could try the new PiMP: http://getpimp.org/edit/btw: you will want to use the cgminer from 2014-04-01. It has a huge performance gain.

Unique Algorithm personally built by the developers. (For now no clones) 2. Strong community backed by arguably the best IPO launch ever. 3. Proven large electric reduction and asic resistance (nothing will ever be completely resistant but hefty-1 has already proved totally inefficient for asic to do in recent testing) 4. It's not even 2 months old and already has substantial value. 5. Coming from being a dev on other coins I can personally tell you many of us cannot give the full attention a coin needs without payment. I'm sorry but a currency needs constant attention to be successful and time=money. 6. The blockchain can be easily secured with our already mature network hashrate. 7. you are entitled to your own opinion, I'm speaking from personal experience and fact. Happy mining everyone, I'm not gonna lie there is something psychologically rewarding about digging into a currency with thousands of megahash.
