Awesome! Congrats mumbly on your new role!
I still really like HVC and want to see it succeed. I'm willing to help however I can. Even at max coinage 128 million, it's still not that many coins, and the larger volume of coins could lend itself to more daily use. I have to hand it to keccak for maintaining the total hands off vote policy. But please maintain more of a presence here, it helps the coins value. As keccak said previously HVC has performed flawlessly since launch, handled large difficulty swings with ease, not required a fork for anything, provided our gpus a cool, low power algo, and given us a break on our power bills. Wallet has been maintained as needed. Really this coin has a lot going for it.
Looking forward to seeing the winning logo!

Good because Heavycoin has received all the maintenance it has required so far. and we will continue to maintain it.
There have been no bugs and the coin has handled huge swings in difficulty without getting stuck or needed a hard fork. That's very good for a coin that is not a copy and paste and actually experiments with several new ideas.
For those suggesting the idea that the devs should override the democratic aspect of Heavycoin and taper the block reward, you are going to be very disappointed. This is not "maintenance" and such development won't be happening because it would go against Heavycoin's democratic principle of having the block reward decided by decentralized block reward voting.
It's entirely sensible for current miners to mine as much as possible before the limit phase, if that's what they have democratically decided.
For all those who want to fork the HEFTY1 cryptographic hash and get the power savings advantages. We don't mind as that serves as a form of promotion for Heavycoin.
Stay tuned for an upcoming anoucement from our new head of marketing and promotion.
I think we all know nothing with the voting is going to change and is a part of the coin design. While I still don't agree with this I do give you big chops for sticking to your guns. You get a +1 from me on the smooth running of everything, +1 on Temporal Retargeting which seems to be working very, very well, but a -1 on forum presence up to today. I think a lot of the early turmoil would have been spared if you were here more. For whatever it's worth, I think this new move was good but wish it happened a little sooner. Drum roll please...
So I'm you're new head of marketing and promotion.
Congrats Dude and we're looking forward to see what you have in-store for us. Carlo

Hey guys, Thanks for such positive feedback - I hope I can live up to it. I want to hug all of you, but you know, for like a few seconds too long, just to make it super awkward . I'm just glad this place doesn't have a head of HR yet... To business! Item 1I'd like to try finding a story for us to put out there about where Heavycoin is at the moment and what opportunities may be out there for people. What occurs to me is that Heavycoin won't be affected by the Scrypt ASIC's on the horizon and it may be an interesting choice for miners to point their GPU's our direction as these new ASIC's hit the market. So the story would be: - ASIC resistant, Scrypt ASIC's won't affect us - Low power consumption, attractive for miners, and generally much less of a power hog then most cryptocurrencies - Take that 'about to be outdated' Scrypt mining hardware and point it to HCV Let me know what you think about this story - good or bad idea? To present this to journalists, the more information we can give them up front is going to make their life easier = more likely to get covered. So we've got to do the leg work to provide them with information so they can vet it themselves and, if accurate, report on it as they see fit. Please feel free to share: - any technical info I should be reading to back up this story - Miners out there - any quotes or personal anecdotes you could share about how mining heavycoin vs other alts has been for you? - are there any GPU mining equipment suggestions anyone would like to recommend (brand X is better then brand Y etc) - what's the best HVC GPU mining guide out there for new miners? - any other arguments that should be included? I don't want to do anything as vulgar as a press release, just a detailed summary to cut down on their leg work so they can ask questions and verify information, but not have to dig up the entire story themselves. Next question is: who should we be sending this information to - what are the best mining blogs/podcasts/sites? My personal goal is to reach out to John @ the Sovereign Bitcoin Podcast ( http://www.sovereignbtc.com/) - I enjoy his podcast and he's started a mining segment over the last few episodes that might be a good fit for this story. Item 2Heavycoin twitter feed - I'd love to get everyone's thoughts here. I'd like to make sure that the @Heavycoin and @Heavycoinnews feeds are both useful and have their own task that they solve, I would like to suggest: @Heavycoin = Important information the heavycoin community needs to know (software updates, major developments) @HeavycoinNews = for the more engaged members of the community (interesting posts, when TheRealSteve posts updated stats, market movements, re-tweet interesting commentary from the wider crypto community) What do you guys think? Otherwise, please, feel free to shout out any ideas for promoting Heavycoin any and promotions you think would be interesting - keccak and nomisugi have already shared their list with me and I'm adding to it, we can just keep adding ideas (even if it's too early for the coin) so we have a go-to list in the future. Cheers, M (Cryptocoinrank.com - thanks for the link man, reading about it now)

Keccak took the IPO money and went to Mali. he is having some fun there And so what? First of all, you could sell it when market price was higher then IPO price. Secondly, no one forced you to invest. If you lost some btc on IPO blame it on yourself. o -greed- you so unsympathy like

Well There was some fud about the algo a lot of pages ago not being asic resistant since there is some sha work in there, I never tried because well I don't have any asics :p and I am not sure if in heavy POW the sha component is the double sha exactly as it is in bitcoin, else asics cannot be used, it would be nice if the dev gives some clarity on this point.
Cheers.

it would be nice if the dev gives some clarity on this point.
You can see the implementation here: https://github.com/heavycoin/cpuminer-heavycoin/blob/master/heavy.c#L30It's a single SHA-256 operation on the input, and the hash of the input as output by the HEFTY1 algorithm. Note that this only says something about its resistance to current SHA-256 Bitcoin ASICs. You could (presumably), still run it through a relatively unoptimized generic single-op SHA-256 ASIC - you'd still have to deal with HEFTY1 and the other 3 hashing functions + the surrounding code, though. Also read through: http://heavycoin.github.io/about.html

Thanks man, I'm going to take you up on that - sorry, would have been a larger update tonight, but figuring things out on the back end and I've run out of time. Two things I would like to ask with help for: 1) Miners - any anecdotes about mining Heavycoin and any first-hand insights if your equipment is running cooler/more efficiently mining this coin - this would be greatly appreciated. 2) Could I ask a volunteer to step up here? TheRealSteve's post are gold on this thread - it would be great if someone could write a newb 101 on how to read and understand the information so when we promote Steve's work we have a 101 post to send beginners to - no need to write the whole thing now, but an expression of interest would be very welcome. If you can write, but need technical info, or conversely, have the info but could use the help of a writer, I'm sure between us all we can figure it out. If you're up for it but need help, let us know the skills you need. *Clever sign-off* Cheers, M
