Good strong batting displayed the Australian team on the first day. I won't say Indian bowlers bowled bad. Australia played really well. Usman Khawaja is on the driving seat and Green is just giving him the support he needs.

Day 1 goes in favour of Australia. Day 2 might help the Indian side. The magic of Ashwin and Jadeja did not work today. Although Shami was good but Umesh Yadav did not get any wickets. I think Rohit should have given these two more overs rather than completely relying on the spinners.

TBH It was a pretty flat deck on day 1. There was no help for the bowlers at all so can't blame them.

Yeah, our seamers didn't utilize new ball today and looked pretty average but Umesh was unlucky to not get any wickets as Bharat dropped a simple catch. Although spinners were good with their line n length. I guess Rohit made a mistake by taking the second new ball, things were looking pretty balance but the last 10 overs with the new ball changed the momentum, thanks to Green.

Yes, based on the performance from Australia team it is sure a batting pitch. Australia would score 350+ runs based on the end of day 1. Khawaja on 104* and Green at 49* runs will continue the partnership. Indian batsmen can't be believed, at times everyone play similarly without understanding the match situation.

What happened on the Chennai ground is something rare and as expected things weren't working with the Indian bowlers. Possibly during the first session of day 2 we can expect fall of wickets.

If this deck remains the same for the next 2 days then surely Indians are not losing at any cost. They might even outscore the Aussie cause that's how traditional Indian pitches work.

With traditional pitch i mean, good to bat on for the first 3 days and then start deteriorating. If that's the case then Indians will also score runs and this includes Jaddu-Ash-Axar too.

If it's different from the traditional pitch then things would be a bit tough for the Indians.

Today things went well with Australia as they have collected couple of good runs with fall of 4 wickets,  so If they continue with this pace tomorrow they can give trail of 400 runs and India will have hard time chasing it .

Such a performance was expected from the West Indies team. But South Africa could have collected 400 runs in the first innings. I thought the South African team would collect more than 400. Apart from the first three batsmen of South Africa, I have not seen any player perform better. The South African team lost three wickets for 278 runs, and they lost all wickets for 320 runs. Even then, if they can post a target of more than 350 in the second innings, they will win. If the target is given less than this, South Africa will face problems to win the match.

The last test match of BGT would start today. I am pretty much excited for it. Australia after a change of captainship has played exceptionally well in the last test matche. They know that India would try to give their 100 percent in order to win this match and qualify for the test world cup. I am sure they would try their level best to stop India. The big problem with India has been unreliable batting. If they are able to work on it then it would be very hard for Australia to defeat India.

It could be difficult for India to qualify for the WTC final if they make a draw or loss the match. Because Sri Lanka is playing well against New Zealand. The last Test match should be a lesson for the curators that even the Indian batsman were struggling to cope with the low bounce and spin and they might be forced to create a neutral wicket for the final Test. Still the pitch will wore out in the final two days and the match depends upon how the Indian batsman will score runs in their first innings, if not it will end up in a draw.

In the Sri Lanka vs New Zealand test match the first innings of Sri Lanka have got over at 355 runs. Sri Lanka have lost 4 wickets in today's session. Tim Southee had five wicket haul. New Zealand have begun its innings with Latham and Conway. The match being played in New Zealand ease out the scoring. This test match is important for Sri Lanka to progress for the ICC test championship.

New Zealand somehow restricted Sri Lanka to 355. Apart from the lone wicket of Niroshan Dickwella (which was picked up by Michael Bracewell), Tim Southee and Matt Henry had to shoulder the bowling responsibilities between themselves. These two picked up the remaining 9 wickets. Blair Tickner and Neil Wagner failed completely, going for 171 runs in their 30 wicketless overs. I can understand the poor performance from Tickner, but Wagner's lack of form surprised me. Anyway, Southee and Henry managed the situation well.

New Zealand just lost two quick wickets, that of Devon Conway and Kane Williamson. They were 67/0 and now they are 70/2. And they still need another 85 runs to avoid follow on. I was expecting a one-sided match in favor of New Zealand and just the opposite happened at Hagley Oval in Christchurch. LOL.. we are talking about the defending WTC champions.

Australia scored 301 runs in 109 overs, losing only four wickets. Usman Khawaja remains unbeaten with 133 runs and Cameroon Green with 70 runs. Australia will likely collect more than 400 easily in the first innings.
I would not say that Indian spinners are bowling badly. But they are not able to pick up wickets. Because Australian batsmen are batting very carefully. Like the third test match, I think Australia will win this match as well.

Australia will try to give maximum strength and endurance in this test. If Australia draw this match they will lose so there is no option but to win. So Australia will play with their maximum to win this match. They lost the first two Tests back-to-back and the third Test they win again. They can win this test too. 307 runs after losing 4 wickets is really appreciable. It is expected that they will try to give a big target in this test. But if the opposite team can only draw then they will be able to reach their target.

Agreed. I feel that the Australians will wrap up their innings on Day 3 while the Indians will drag things out till the final day since they know that a draw will most probably be enough to push them into the WTC finals.

Chances for teams like South Africa and Sri Lanka to enter the WTC finals are slim in comparison.
