The second Test match between South Africa and West Indies is going to start shortly after in Johannesburg. The performance of the South African bowlers in the first match was quite good and they won. However, in the second innings, they lost all wickets for just 116 runs. If South Africa wants to continue its dominance in the second match as well, the bowlers as well as the batsmen must bat responsibly.

The West Indies team is quite weak for the Test format. Especially I think their batsmen have very little patience. So we don't see good performances from West Indies batsmen in the Test format. If West Indies batsmen don't perform well in today's match too, I don't see any chance of them winning.

I have a feeling that the future of West Indies in test format will depend heavily on how Tagenarine Chanderpaul will perform in the coming years. Apart from him, I don't think that any of the other West Indian batsmen have the skills to score runs in this format. And I would like the West Indian selectors to give another opportunity for Gudakesh Motie. He is the best spinner they got and can be useful against the South Africans. And from what I heard, South Africa will be including two spinners for today's match - Simon Harmer and Keshav Maharaj.

you are right Chanderpaul is an excellent batsman. And the West Indies have now become largely dependent on his performance. West Indies did not get a better performance from Chanderpaul in the first match. Had Chanderpaul played well, West Indies might have won the match.

The South African team won the toss and decided to bat in today's match. South Africa collected 23 runs in 6.3 overs. If they don't lose wickets too quickly, South Africa can collect big scores. I think 350 runs are good enough on such a pitch. So if South Africa can score more than 350 in the first innings then I think they will be in the safe zone.

Of course, if the opposition does not attack hardly, then the batsman will try to collect more runs. In this way, it is only a matter of time to score a big one.

^^ Australia always gives a tough fight tho, although in my recent memory, 2017 series in India was more competitive as most of the matches were tight, that's why no one takes them lightly.

Considering India's record at home, Australia would take a 2-2 result gladly and can claim the victory, rightly so. For 2-2 Australia need to play their A-game again and hope India plays a shitty one like the last match.

In a span of 10 years, the Indian test team has only lost 3 test matches when played on home ground. A single loss cannot over shadows their excellent performance as a test team. I am confident that they will come back strong and overcome all the issues the batting lineup has been facing in the past three matches. I would say that the team management could have promoted Axar Patel up the order in the previous match above Ashwin as he has proven in this tournament that he can score good runs. Keeping him down the order only increases the pressure when the top and middle order collapse.

Australia would be happy with any result they know that the real test is not the BGT but the test world cup. They have already qualified for it and I am sure they would not be as competitive as they were in the third test. That does not mean that they would give a tough fight to India. That means the pressure would be on Rohit and his team to get into the final of the ICC events.

I agree, with his current form it's literally a crime to keep him at number 9. IMO he's the only batter in this series who somehow looked way more comfortable with the bat in every single match. If not at 6 then surely he should be promoted to number 7 after Jadeja, maybe push Bharat down to number 9.

Btw it looks like we might get a bit of batting friendly deck when compared to the last 3 pitches.

Markram played a brilliant innings, but unfortunately fell just short of scoring his 17th Test century. Nevertheless, he has been in excellent form following this Test series and he has had a great start to 2023. Zorzi, unbeaten at 75 runs, and Bavuma, who unbeaten at 27 runs, both looked confident on the pitch before the tea break. As they head into tea break, South Africa is in a good position with a decent total of 247/2.

Winning toss and having good use of first day play mean things in complete control of South African here West Indies is completely out of the way for the win because they are having average level bowling and below average level batting which is not going to help them for having any positive result form test matches here and in near future. South Africans are having good practice which is going to help them because they are doing impressive with bat and surely things could be in their control as well while they will be at bowling.

Temba Bavuma is going to stay as test captain for long time because it's not all about talent and quality, he is leading South African team just because of his color which is now having main requirement for the entry into South African cricket team.

Cricket is 11 players game and one player can't bring changes for all team even this happens in the past, but now things are completely changed with I also have positive feeling about Tagenarine Chanderpaul but with due respect he is wasting his talent in this country where we have quota system and merit is not working just because of own sack and team quality is going down drastically he was capable of going to England or South Africa which things are better for quality player like him here most chances they could be completely down and out for this format with just T20 is going to be had some better response all other formats are going to be ended soon with things are not going into positive way.

WICB is also not serious about the better future, and I was reading on different sites now Baseball and Basketball are also having good popularity which is negative for the game of cricket if they want to have positive change then surely they need to work quickly and good otherwise this is already ended for them.

Kusal Mendis in particular smacked Wagner all around the ground. Wagner with his usual short ball tactics didn't trouble Mendis at all.

I am very disappointed with the performance of South Africa's middle order batsmen. South Africa lost their third wicket for 248 runs. The first three batsmen started South Africa's innings brilliantly. After losing three wickets for 248 runs, South Africa lost the seventh wicket for 311 runs. If the African middle order batsmen were able to bat with some responsibility then it would not be difficult for them to score 400+ runs in this match. Even then I expect the African team to collect more than 350. Heinrich is still at the crease. Experienced enough batsmen. If he stays at the crease, South Africa's innings will be longer.
