Excited to see the first match on the biggest cricket stadium built ever until now, it holds the seating capacity of 110K with flood light settings and no pillar into the stances so people can watch the match from any view angle. India decided to go with three spinners again will this work for them in the pink ball test match?
While Eng came with just one spinner in their lineup!

Ha! England going with 3 pacer and India opted for 3 spinners What's happening here, I'm sure 1 captain got wrong idea about the pitch. You could say that India playing with 3 bowling all rounders (Ashwin, Axar and Sundar). If I am not wrong then Pitch is very dry and mostly its helps to spinners so here England is doing wrong because 3 seamers is not good decision for them they still have some good spinners for this match and Root is also available which can help them a lot on other side now India is going with good advantages as they have 3 all rounder's those can change things very quickly for them in any situation. Edit: Sharma strike very early in his 100th test match Sibley out without disturbing scorer.

Umesh was dropped and his slot went to Washington Sundar. I feel bad about Kuldeep Yadav, because he deserved at least one good outing. And being a wrist spinner, he would have added more diversity. Right now the Indian spin attack is composed of three off-spinners.

England in all sorts of trouble right now. And this happened despite Joe Root winning the toss. Being a D/N test, this match represents the best opportunity for England to make it 2-1 against India. But with such a horrible start, I would be surprised if they manage to reach a total of even 200. There doesn't seems to be anything in the pitch for the pace bowlers. Both Ishant and Jasprit didn't got much assistance from the surface.

They are getting royally hammered by Ashwin and Patel. Great bowling by these two guys already 5 wickets have gone. If England continues to bat like this I think it will be hard to reach 200. Joe root out for 17 and I think he and Crawley were the only one who scored double figure.

4th wicket gone Right now 93/7 look like we are going to have another one sided affair here no resistance from English batsmen they are falling like crap against spin of Axar and Ashwin. Most chances we are going to have this match India won by one inning.

LOL.. earlier the question was whether they will reach 200 or not. Now the question is whether England can get to a total of at least 100. They have lost 8 wickets and still they are in double digits. Ashwin/Axar has taken 7 wickets so far, conceding just 59 runs. And more than half of the total was made by just one batsman (Zak Crawley). Apart from him and Joe Root, none of the others could even get in to double digits.

But one thing is for sure, English batsmen can't play spin at all.

Perhaps you are right @JSRAW. England batsmen can't play spin (not even the Axar Patel variety). During the first test, they looked comfortable against Washington Sundar and Shahbaz Nadeem. But they are struggling against Ashwin and Axar. And now I have to agree with the management decision, to not to include Umesh Yadav in the playing XI. Pacers don't have much of a role in this test match. First day of the match, and 90% of the wickets have been taken by the spinners.
In all probability, James Anderson will be bowling under the floodlights, which may give him some advantage. The other England bowlers are not in good form and therefore I don't expect much from them (both the pacers, as well as the spinners). The toss was supposed to be crucial. But England is sliding towards a humiliating defeat despite winning the toss.

Moreover I don't know whether it's the pitch or it's the Indian bowling attack or the Indian batting attack but since quite long I haven't seen a team struggling like this against spin. This is even worse than previous match. If it's the pitch I think there shouldn't be this amount of help for the bowlers that the batsmen can't even judge the ball.

It's all over. England blasted out for a total of 112 in less than two sessions of play. Axar Patel picked 6 wickets, while Ashwin got 3. The so called "world champions (after obviously stealing the CWC 2019 trophy from New Zealand)" can't play against a bowler like Axar Patel. Another humiliation for England. These are their totals in the last 3 innings - 134, 164, 112. Making a total above 200 in India seems to be very difficult for them.

Didn't expect such start from ENG after winning the toss and ended up in complete collapse, now Indian openers too struggling to take their initial runs and there was an initial drop chance at slips which saved the wicket of Subham Gill.Rohit Sharma need to kick this innings which just happen few seconds ago, hope the rain of boundaries will continue from him.

English batsmen opted to play back foot shots and got out on straight balls. It seems that last test pitch still playing tricks on their mind. --------- England need quick wickets, not just 1 or 2 but at least 10 early wickets for comeback.

Surprised by the slow start from Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill. These two are batsmen who have a good strike rate even in the 5-day format. I guess it may take some time for them to adjust playing against the pink ball. Also, two of England's best bowlers are bowling right now (James Anderson and Stuart Broad). Perhaps once the spinners come to bowl, we will see these two scoring at a quicker pace.

It's good to take a cautious approach especially when the opponents just collapsed for 112 runs. I'm sure the instructions would have been to see the Day 1 out and start fresh tomorrow with a new approach. 9 wickets to spinners on Day 1 of a test. Is that some kind of a record? It just might be. Imagine if they are making havoc on Day 1 with spin. How day 5 will be haha. I guess Eng made a critical error by not including more spinners into the lineup.

England's players have failed miserably, 3 batsmen have been dismissed for 0 and 7 batsmen have failed to score above 10 runs. I have rarely seen such poor performances by England players. But I don't think India will play very well. Soon we will see their batting disaster too.

I think they planned on waiting the ball to spin properly before selecting a shot on each ball. While Axar's Ball was coming up on the batsmen immediately after bouncing. I think instead they should have tried to reach the pitch of the ball. Surprised to see such a naive approach from them. on the other side Indian openers are batting in a very intelligent way. Nice to see them batting in such a way.

Unpredictable first day with the Pink ball. Generally team batting first has a better chance in day in last 2 matches, but here seems to be different equation. Brilliant speel by Axar and picking 6 wickets just never allowed England to settle down. India need to have a cautious start and not to lose many wickets on day 1 which is what exactly they are doing it. Let see if they can have a good first innings run lead to put more pressure on England or will England make a comeback from here.
