Yes.. this is a contentious issue. I am not in favor of including Ashwin, as he has performed poorly in overseas conditions. For the spin option, there is Jadeja. But then the question is whether India will be comfortable in going with 4 pacers + Jadeja? New Zealand are not very good against spinners and in case the match gets extended to the 4th or 5th day, then spinners may have some role to play. So the big question is whether they want to go with 4 pacers + Jadeja, or 4 pacers + 1 spinner (Ashwin) + Jadeja.

Don't know if you follow Test cricket or not but since 2018 he's performing quite well with the bat in the SENA countries.

He's number 8 batsman and bowling all rounder so ofc he won't score 50 or 100 regularly like other batsmen or batting all rounders but he has 5 test tons under his belt. He did fairly good job in SA with couple of 30s +7 wickets in 2 games and don't forget recent match saving inning in Sydney + 12 wickets in 3 games. In last English tour his average was like 25 ish with the bat and took 11 wickets in 4 games, didn't bowl single bowl in 1 match because pacer finished the job, this seems good all round performance to me tbh.

If he manage to get 4 wickets and contribute 30-40 runs when batting at number 8 then would say it job well done, failure is part of the game, which can happen anytime but its fine too because atm he seems best bet for India considering his confidence is high due to recent success.

^^^^ I am afraid that in the end it will come to a choice between Ravichandran Ashwin and Mohammad Siraj. Given the stats and recent form, I would go with Ashwin. For the pace bowling lineup, I would prefer Mohammad Shami, Ishant Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah. Now I am not sure whether Kohli would be OK with this. He may replace Ishant with Siraj, given that Ishant is a genuine tail end batsmen. But I would still prefer Ishant, as he is more suitable to the English conditions and has tons of experience.

India management has put together a very good team. New Zealand players are not accustomed to playing spin ball. If India can take this opportunity, they will be able to perform tremendously. Moreover, Jadeja and Ashwin are experienced batsmen. They will not disappoint the team management.

New Zealand has taken new batsman Devon Conway in their squad. His batting performance was marvelous against England. They have also other qualitative batsman. I am surprised that India picked the team and included two spinners when the pitch would help the fast bowlers in the first three days as pet the curator who prepared the wicket, Ashwin and Jadeja will pack the tail end with batting power and the toss is going to be crucial and with two spinners in the team India might choose batting if they win the toss then only they can exploit the spinners in the final two days.

I don't see anything wrong with the XI that was announced. I am actually happy that Ishant was preferred instead of Siraj. Ishant is definitely a more experienced and skilled bowler. The only argument that goes against him is that his batting is not up to the mark. But when you consider slots for pace bowler, it is the bowling ability that needs to be considered.

I think the Indian management has included Jadeja as a batsman. Jadeja is a good batsman. He can bowl it is an extra advantage for the India team. This team from India is a perfect squad. Experienced batsmen, experienced pace bowlers and experienced spin bowling allrounder like Aswin are in the squad.

It's WTC21 Final yet rains keep on disturbing play the match between India and New Zealand. Beneficial thing is rain stopped at this moment and if the groundsman works well, we could observe some game today. England should not be the venue for any important match during June-July. Rain could probably impact all the playing days. ICC don't have any sense to select a venue for an important match like Test Championship Final.

They have an extra date for the WTC final but today the entire day was washed out and what happens if a few more days the rain will halt the match and it will be a draw and if that happens then it is going to be a boring end to the hyped up final.

The second Test between South Africa and the West Indies is being held. West Indies decided to field after winning the toss. Looks like they made the right decision. Because, South Africa lost their valuable 3 wickets by just 37 runs. I didn't think they would lose 3 wickets so fast. Hopefully Dean Elgar and Kyle Verreyenne, who are now at the crease, will be able to build a good partnership.

Dean Elgar is still in the crease and he is now joined by Quinton de Kock as they lost their 4th wicket and it was a good decision by West Indies to win the toss and electing to field but the problem is that South Africa also have a good bowling unit who could bowl at exceptional pace and test the batsman and how West Indies players are going to handle that determines how this game will end.

England Woman and India Woman are playing and the most disappointing aspect was that India was in a dominating position reaching a century partnership for the opening wicket reaching 167 runs and then getting all out for 231 runs was a huge surprise and i am sure many lost their bet if they made innings bets.

As per the weather forecast we could see the match tomorrow and day after tomorrow as the weather is shown as cloudy but there is a forecast of heavy rainfall on Monday, so expect one more day getting washed off if that happens and the long awaited match will end up in a draw and the WTC will be shared between New Zealand and India and the fans will miss a great contest between the top two teams in a neutral ground.

Now i have a feeling that Virat & co going to make change in the playing XI as rain changed the scenario and toss still pending so there is a good chance of including 1 more pacer in the team, may be Siraj in place of Jadeja-Ashwin.

Are they allowed to do so? Technically the match has started and today is the second day. And also, I don't believe that they will suddenly change the team composition. There is a reserve day for this match, and the match will stretch in to the last day, which means that spinners will have some role to play later. Including Siraj in the place of Jadeja is not something that I would prefer. Because he has rescued the team from many tough situations during the past. If they want to go for the replacement, then I would prefer dropping Ashwin.
