Players will not perform well in every match and will not win every match.

Nope, I'm not suggesting. I'm just saying that. Srilankan team is too much unstable. They have to be stable. And steps to stabilize the team needed to be taken by the board a few more years ago. They have failed to prepare the best replace players like Sangakkara, Dilshan Malinga. Yet the behavior of many players on the team is very unprofessional. It would not be a bad thing for them to take such a step experimentally.

To add another one there was some new clash between players and board regarding new contract policy. According to the players board clearly showed their biased when handing out grade or points to the players, like player who play all 3 format for the national team got lower points in comparison of who play only 1 format of the game.

Then there is new contract for every new series, which means no security for the players at all.

The last part really sound ridiculous. Why there should be a new contract after every series? If the board wants to pay the players based on the performance then they can add a variable pay component on top of the annual contract. A new contract after each series sounds really absurd. None of the other boards have this policy of series-wise contracts. It looks to me that some incompetent people are in the SLC right now. The ICC needs to take action, or else I am afraid that they will end up like Zimbabwe.

Politics messing up their entire system, players already facing salary cuts under new national contract. Lankan board even refused to give annual contract to players like Dimuth Karunaratne and Angelo Mattew. I'm not sure if series -wise contracts are permanent thing but recently they gave 2 different contract for Srilanka tour of England (where player got banned due to covid breach) and last series against India.

Since Mayank is injured, either Gill or Shaw will open alongside Rohit. I don't like either of them, as I can't see any maturity with these players. Both have been given enough chances, but they have wasted them. I would have preferred Devdutt Padikkal, but he doesn't seems to have powerful backers within the selection panel.

Abhimanyu Easwaran is someone who had consistently impressed me in the 4-day domestic tournament (Ranji Trophy). We don't hear much about him usually, because he is not suitable for T20 format and therefore doesn't participate in the IPL (still averages 36.20, with a strike rate of 137.64 in this format). But I guess the selectors will go for KL Rahul, since they don't want an inexperienced opener for the first test. Also, India as usual is not planning any warmup matches and this might have given an opportunity for Easwaran.

I would still say that India is having the advantage at this point. They still have 6 wickets in hand, and are trailing by just 58 runs. On top of that, we need to remember that the Indian lower order is really strong, with the inclusion of Ravindra Jadeja and Shardul Thakur. But it needs to be seen how the Indian players handle the combination of James Anderson/Stuart Broad, who have a total of 1,140 test wickets between them (without any doubt the most experienced pace bowling pair ever to play test cricket, since the first test match was played in 1877).

If England can pick up this wicket quickly, then maybe India will not be able to collect too many runs. Rain will assist the England team to draw the match.

183/10, this is probably the most lowest innings of England yet bowlers have thought other thing. Virat Kohli has gone by Jimmy without batting. A wonderful start totally wasted due to the rain, where really lovely start of England. India could comfortably win this Test Match but weather have different plan.

No doubt India bowlers did their job and now it is how their batsman will perform and looking at the way in which the pitch was behaving you need to bat for a longer time to get settled and none of the England batsman was able to do that and for India apart from the opening pair they lost wickets and if the match was not interrupted by rain i expect England bowlers could pick more wickets...

The same could happen with India, Virat Kohli getting out for a golden duck will be the highlight of the series, he is consistent but when he gets out he will get out without scoring any runs and i would like to see his stats on how many matches he got out for a duck.

We are frustrated to see how rain interrupts Indian batting when they were performing well. As this is cricket in England and the weather cannot be guaranteed, no guarantee can be made for tomorrow. Here, the fact is English conditions from one of the best bowling attack. England's batting has been destroyed by Indian bowling, now it is the turn of English bowlers. I predict a draw since it's raining and the batsmen will have a tough time.

After Jadeja's dismissal, India managed to score 46 runs. I thought they would collect 20/25 runs if too much. India is leading by 95 runs. That’s a lot for that kind of pitch. England players have to play very carefully today. Maybe 30-32 overs will be played today. The match will be drawn if England does not lose any wickets today, otherwise, I think England is more likely to lose.

What the heck is wrong with Ollie Robinson? He successfully made his comeback by taking 5 wickets in this match, but still managed to make himself look like an idiot by rubbing shoulders with KL Rahul.

He should have learned his lesson after his recent fiasco and should have acted more professionally in my opinion. Disappointing stuff.
