Ravichandran Ashwin just got out to a horrible shot. He seemed to be in a hurry and was going for shots almost every ball. And in the end gave Tim Southee his first wicket in the test. A total of around 250 would be good, and if the tail enders give proper support to Jadeja, then it may be possible to go beyond that mark.
The tail is exposed and India already lost the 9th wicket and Ravindra Jadeja is still in the crease and all he needs to do is score runs and the last three wickets will not contribute anything as they are typical tail who do not know batting and India scored just 217 runs and the interesting aspect is how New Zealand will tackle the Indian pace bowlers.

Edit:
India all out for 217 runs .

Not expected, however Indian bowlers won't let New Zealand easily get this total in these conditions. Since it's very clear extreme conditions to bat. It will be extreme for NZ hitters also. Time will say, whether this is a decent and fair score or not?

That is true. The New Zealand openers seems to be struggling against the pace and bounce of Ishant and Bumrah. But let's not forget the fact that some of the New Zealand batsmen (especially Conway and Williamson) are in excellent form right now. Devon Conway averages 89 against pace, and therefore I would say that it won't be a bad idea to bring Ravichandran Ashwin or Ravindra Jadeja early on. India needs a few quick wickets early on. The first innings lead is going to be really crucial in this match. Anyway, the Indian pacers seems to be in very good shape.

Historically, the Indian batsmen (apart from Virat Kohli) had issues against bowlers with a lot of pace and bounce. In this test also that was the case with Kyle Jamieson breaking the backbone of Indian batting. And at the same time, the Indians have performed better against medium pacers and it was not surprising to see de Grandhomme going wicketless after conceding so many runs. I would have still preferred New Zealand to include either Mitchell Santner or Ajaz Patel in the place of de Grandhomme.
Unfortunately Kohli and rahane were not able to score any runs from yesterday. I was expecting Kohli and Rahane to atleast reach 50. This was an appalling batting by both the batsmen. Nothing can be expected by the tail enders, still Ashwin scored a few. Nothing went well for the Indian batting line up. The score is not that much for NZ, they all need to do is to stick to the wicket to the end for today's session.

Could anyone have imagined that India would lose all their wickets for just 217 runs? India has one of the best batting lineups in the world. By taking all the wickets for 217 runs, the New Zealand bowlers have shown how efficient they are and how much the pitch is helpful for pace bowlers. From this, it is clear that keeping Jadeja and Ashwin in the squad is the wrong decision of the Indian management.

The pitch was swinging a lot and it was a huge test for the batsman and they were not able to build partnership and ended up with 217 runs on the board which is disappointing and i expected India to pick up some early wickets but New Zealand is surviving and already scored 54 runs without loosing a wicket and India needs to somehow find the break through if they wanted to win the match.

The last two days the pitch might assist spinners and you cannot conclude now whether it was a bad decision, Indian bowlers are not getting the swing the New Zealand bowlers were able to achieve and that means the pitch is changing.

For me, it was not surprising. Kohli and Rahane are the best test batsmen India have in SENA conditions. Once they got out, it was a collapse. I wasn't expecting much from batsmen like Pant in the middle order and Gill in the top order, because they don't have enough experience in such conditions. On top of that, Kyle Jamieson under favorable conditions is almost unplayable. The Indian batsmen had a relatively easy time, because the foolish New Zealand captain persisted with the gentle medium pace of de Grandhomme and Southee for quite long.

I think India's top order batsmen did not play well so India lost all their wickets by so few runs. Although they relied on Kohli and Rahane. But they also failed to build resistance in front of New Zealand's bowling.

New Zealand scored 101 runs losing only 1 wicket. Conway is unbeaten on 54. My guess is that New Zealand will be able to collect more than 380 runs.

Devon Conway got out almost at the time you made the post. New Zealand was well on front foot, but the wicket of one of their best batsmen pulled back some momentum for the Indians. And it was Ishant who took the wicket of Conway. Before the playing XI was announced, there was a lot of debate about replacing Ishant with Siraj. But I was against that idea, because Ishant is one of the most experienced pacers in the Indian lineup and I thought that he will be more effective under the English conditions.

The momentum is still with New Zealand and i thought the Indian pace bowlers will trouble the New Zealand batsman like Kyle Jamieson did to the Indian batsman but Jasprit Bumrah was disappointment while Ishant Sharma and Mohammed Shami bowled well and Mohammed Shami was unlucky as there were some tough chances when he was bowling.

New Zealand played really well against England and they are continuing their performance against India pace bowlers as well and lets see how they will be playing against the spinners tomorrow.

The morning session will be important and what i thought was that Jasprit Bumrah should bowl a more fuller length/

South Africa is struggling in the second innings and Kyle Mayers is turning out to be a wicket taking bowler as he once again took 3 wickets and they lost 7 wickets for 73 runs and they lead by 222 runs which is not that huge. The match is getting interested because i think West Indies has the team to chase down anything around 250 runs.

Day 1 - Rain
Day 2 - Indians were in strong position + lost almost 1 session due to bad light
Day 3 - Kiwis fought back and won the day + Half n hour lost due to bad light
Day 4 - Rain?
Day 5 -
Reserve 6th day

So far both teams are playing quality of cricket in challenging condition, which is exciting to watch but at the same time its frustrating to see that we're losing overs after over due to bad light.

I thought that the Indian bowlers did relatively well, against one of the top test sides in the world. Devon Conway was batting really well and frustrating the Indian pacers. On top of that, the Indian batsmen had failed to put up a good score. But life was not very easy for the New Zealand batsmen. Bumrah was slightly wayward, but I could see all the three Indian pacers generating a lot of pace and bounce from the pitch. Anyway, I guess things will be different in the fourth day and the match situation may change.

Changing condition is really challenging. There is more chance of match ending in a draw. After the day 3 game New Zealand is quite strong with their performance. Let's see how the day 4 goes. What happens today seems to make the conclusion of the match. Everyone will be expecting an win out of the match by one of the team.

Three days remain in this match, so there is a good chance that we'll get a result (even if there is some disruption from rain). On the other hand, if the match ends in a draw, then it will be a blow for the ICC in their attempt to make the test format more appealing. Who in their right mind would spend 6 days from their precious time to watch a cricket match, which ends with no result? I am not impressed by this entire WTC setup. First of all, the ICC needs to divide the test championship to two divisions.

I have a feeling that everyone here commenting only after checking scorecard instead of live match.

I'm personally not even watching this game. Admitting that and just don't have time these days, but I got myself a big bet on India win, most 6s, most 4s, simple. So just checking livescore stats every few hours. And it's not going the best way for me -- disappointing from them seriously.

Rain is expected today as per the weather reports and yes it is frustrating to see the WTC final affected by weather and even with an extra day it looks like we might not see a result until we see another collapse from India in their second innings like they lost in Australia and usually they get defeated in their first match in their past few series and usually comes back and win the series.

According to the weather prediction, no play is possible until tomorrow second half. So unless some miracle occurs, this match is going to end in a draw and both the teams would be declared as combined winners. Time has come for the ICC to think about a stadium with retractable roof. I know that it is going to cost them a lot of money, but in the long run they may be able to get good returns. With climate change getting more severe, we can expect more rain interruptions in the future as well. Even the addition of the reserve day hasn't helped here.

I was checking the match result of West Indies vs South Africa. South Africa scored 298 in the first innings but lost all their wickets for just 174 in the second innings. However, West Indies lost 2 wickets for just 26 runs. South Africa will easily be able to pick up all the wickets of the West Indies and win the match.
