it looks like result is back on the menu in SL vs Ban match. At one point Bangladesh were batting at 214/4 comfortably and it looked like that this game is dead but they faced a fine collapse and everything came to alive, thanks to debutant Jayawickrama.

I thought this match is also going to be a draw but Sri Lanka changed the match altogether with their bowling performance and now they have a healthy lead of 259 runs and there is plenty of time left in the match and they can set a target of over 350 runs and put them to bat and Sri Lanka can win the match.

Pakistan won the match by an innings as expected and it is a shame that Zimbabwe is playing Test cricket .

Pakistan won the match by an innings as expected and it is a shame that Zimbabwe is playing Test cricket .

Pakistan needs to sharpen their game as well as Zimbabwe needs to learn how to Play Test cricket again and none of the other teams are ready to face them may be because of monetary reasons. I wish the odds were better consider Pakistan can always play the odd game.

SL will need to score as many runs as they can within 2 session which will give them 4 sessions to try and bowl Bangladesh out. I think 350+ is enough so it will be interesting to see if SL will go for the win.

In recent times Sri Lanak does knows its limitations and they always look for the safer option than playing for the win. The match depends upon how Bangladesh will bat in the final two days of the match.

These scenarios are applicable only if Sri Lanka wants to win. From the first test, it looked as if they are playing just for formality and have no interest in getting a result other than draw. If they were really aiming for a win, then they would have asked Bangladesh to follow on. And it was not like the bowlers had 150-200 overs of work. Bangladesh in the first innings was bowled out in just 83 overs, and most of these overs were bowled by spinners (Ramesh Mendis and Praveen Jayawickrama bowling 63 overs in total).

But they will have zero chance if 90 overs of play is possible tomorrow. Liton Das is batting along with Mehidy Hasan Miraz, and both are very good batsmen capable of surviving for 40-50 overs. Given the weather forecast for tomorrow, that should be enough to hold Sri Lanka to a draw.

Bangladesh as usual in the losing track. Bangladesh are a good team, however they need to improve in test side otherwise this thing will repeat again and again. Congratulations Praveen on 10 wickets haul on Test debut. Amazing young talent, and such promising performance should be carried out. Hope upcoming ODI series will be competitive.

All they had to do was to survive another 40-50 overs and the weather would have done the rest. But they couldn't even survive the first session of the 5th day. All the five wickets gone in just 23 overs. And look who got the wickets. The inexperienced spinners Ramesh Mendis and Praveen Jayawickrama shared 9 wickets between them (the remaining wicket went to Dhananjaya de Silva). If Bangladesh perform like this, then soon they will end up like Zimbabwe.

Sri Lankan team would loss in the same way if they didn't choose to bat first after winning the toss. There was huge difference between the pitch condition of first two days and last three days. Sri Lankan batsman was capable to make good runs on first innings while they struggled a lot in their second innings. And Bangladeshi batsman struggled in both innings. Agree with you, this series wasn't important but both team had a good practice. And we have seen incredible performance from few individual players.

Well.. this is the problem. For both the teams, the players are not able to convert the individual performances to team victories. On multiple occasions during this series, we saw some of the batsmen scoring too slowly, when they had to declare the innings after scoring quick runs. These people care more about their own stats, rather than attaining a victory for the team. Overall, this series left me in bad taste. I guess I need to stick with watching test matches between the big 3 teams only.

I usually only watch certain high profile Test series including England Australia and if India tours to these countries because the matches are usually competitive but if you had the patience to watch all these matches then you are the hardcore fan as i am not having the patience to watch these long matches unless i am willing to place live bets .

I don't think that any of us watch test matches continuously for 5 days. For my part, I watch for 10 or 20 minutes at a time, may be 2-3 times a day when good teams are playing (India, New Zealand, Australia and England, and may be West Indies as well). I usually avoid watching matches involving weaker teams such as Zimbabwe or Sri Lanka. During my student days, I had a lot of free time and could afford to watch five days on the trot. But that is not possible now, due to work commitments and family responsibilities.

Blaming the toss is useless excuse as no one controls the toss outcome, its 50-50 for both the teams and no one is going to get rid of toss benefit in home condition anytime soon, may be never. Everyone knew that batting is going to be tough in last 2 days so Bangladeshi batters needed to bat well during their 1st inning, unfortunately for them everyone failed.

Toss had hardly any impact on the outcome of the game. The pace bowlers received no support from the pitch and there wasn't much bounce or seam movement. The spinners also failed to get any sort of assistance from the pitch. Ideally the match would have ended in a draw, but the batting collapse from Bangladesh in the fourth innings gave the advantage to Sri Lanka and they were eventually able to win the match. The Bangladeshi batsmen looked like they were in a hurry to get back home.

Talking about these three teams, what happened to the Asia Cup? The last time we had that tournament was way back in 2018, in the United Arab Emirates. Another edition was scheduled to be held in 2020, but it was postponed due to COVID 19. Initially it was scheduled for June 2021, but from what I am hearing, it is again postponed and may not happen this year. Even the qualifier tournament hasn't completed as of yet. 10-15 years back, it used to be one of the most popular cricket tournaments.

Test series? Why would you want one, it takes 2-3 weeks for 2 match test series. You can imagine what would happen if 3 nations playing test cricket with each others back to back. For limited overs cricket we already have Asia cup, which getting delayed but its temporary.
