Kraigg Brathwaite and Rahkeem Cornwall played well, to rescue West Indies from a difficult position of 222/7. I don't know why Cornwall doesn't bat higher up. At no.9 position, his skills are just getting wasted. It is going to be another even sided match. Sri Lanka could have bowled out West Indies for under 250, to gain an advantage. But they were unable to do so. And it doesn't look as if West Indies will be able to make a total of >350. So as of now, there is no advantage for anyone in this match.

They only need 60ish runs to touch 350 mark and Braithwaite still batting beautifully along with Cornwell, he seems set as well so there is a chance that they might get close to 350, unless SL wrap up tailenders quickly with the new ball, ball is just 6 overs old so both possibilities are open.

May be because of fitness he's not batting up, also Alzarri Joseph knows thing or 2 about batting too.

The one thing i like about Ind vs Eng series is. India won majority of games despite losing the toss. I think that Kohli should start toss practicing otherwise upcoming England outing is going to be very tough for the Indian batters.

You are right. Kohli must practice tossing more. Although it largely depends on fate. Kohli was able to win the match after losing the toss because they played on their own ground and the England team could not adapt to this pitch. If the series held in England, the results would have been different.

Indian team always wins at home despite toss outcome (They only lost 2 tests at home since 2014-15 i guess). But we can't say the same about other team, especially England. Kohli lost 10 toss in this series. If he wins same amount of toss in the England then i'm sure this Indian team will perform much better, may be Test series win?

The partnership is worth 65 now, so why don't you think that adding another 63 is not possible? Rahkeem Cornwall may be batting at no.9, but he is a very talented batsman, with a few first-class and List A centuries to his name. And then they have Kemar Roach, who is not that bad with the bat (can add another 20-30 runs easily with one of these batsmen). I think West Indies will be very disappointed, in case they fail to reach a total of 350.

I would say that the match right now is even with no team in front, some might say the WI because they have the runs on the board but SL seem to be batting fine right now with the partnership building between Chandimal and Dhananjaya de Silva, if they can bat through until lunch with not losing a wicket, I think SL will be in a good position to take a 1st innings lead but a lot depends on this partnership.

^^ They are batting okay except few dodgy moments at the end. Game looks balanced right now considering they were 77/3 at one time. There is no demons on pitch, if Windies no 9 Cornwall could bat then you could expect similar performance from the SL middle order. Tomorrow they should be careful tho and try not to lose wicket in the first hour, this pair already did the hard work so they would be very pissed off if they throw their wickets.

On top of that, the West Indies domestic cricket structure is in a much better shape. There are 6 first class sides and the domestic matches are of very high quality. On the other hand, Sri Lanka is perhaps the only country which doesn't have a solid first class structure. Their domestic competitions comprise of matches between various club sides, such as the Chilaw Marians and Badureliya.

Its looking like this match will end in a draw now which is a little disappointing. I still give the WI a chance if they can get these last 2 wickets quickly and then get at least 250+ runs lead which will make it hard for SL to win and maybe even survive on the last day trying to draw the match. The draw looks very likely outcome right now though.

Almost all of them got the start but they failed to capitalize, SL team was lucky that rain interrupted the game otherwise Windies bowlers could have been get through their tailenders as well. Only minor positive for SL is Pathum Nissanka still at crease and batting nicely, now his task is to bat with the num 10-11 batsmen and get close to Windies target as much as possible, may be add 40-50 runs.

Considering the domestic cricket environment of these two countries, the West Indies team will definitely be far ahead of Sri Lanka. But a few years ago Sri Lanka was a very strong team. While players like Jayawardhane, Sangakkara, Dilshan and Malinga were in the squad. They had the ability to challenge any strong team. It seems that the lack of domestic league is not creating any talent in the youth. That is why the Sri Lankan team is in so much trouble today.

Yeah pretty disappointing performance from the Srilankan's point of view, today they only added 7 runs before getting all out and now their fielders are also letting them down by dropping catch. Windies is in good position despite losing 2 wickets and lead is already 165 runs. Approx 69 overs left in today's game, it would be good if Windies get some quick runs on the board so that they can give their bowlers 90+ overs to get opposition out in the 4th inning.

There are still about 27 overs left today. If they are not able to take at least 2 wickets today, then this match is going to be a draw.

This is turning into a interesting match as now the WI are in full control and its there match to win as SL won't be able to chase down 377. I thought the WI have played well to at least try and get a win here by declaring early on and making SL bat late on day 4, now SL will need to survive the whole day on a day 5 pitch. It will be an exciting end to the match, its a shame that its not on T.V here but I'll see if I can watch it on a stream.
