Bangladesh has the opportunity to win as the wicket was spinning earlier and tomorrow is the final day and the pitch should turn but still Zimbabwe was able to score some runs and Brendan Taylor was once again unlucky as he missed a well deserving century as he is out in the 90s and if the spinners are able to turn the ball then we might see another collapse like we saw in the first innings.

Taylor is a very good player, but one thing that he doesn't know is how to play for the team instead for himself. On both the occasions, he got out by playing unwanted shots. This was a rare opportunity for Zimbabwe to get a very rare test win against one of the teams in the first division of test cricket. But they wasted the chance. At some point of time, the ICC need to ask the question whether it is good for the health of cricket to given them any more chances, while teams such as Nepal and Netherlands doesn't get any.

Rare chance before the toss but Bong bandhus didn't gave them much choice after that.

After Bangladesh mammoth score they had some chance of comeback which they lost after bundling up under 300, still there was some hope of comeback but Bangladeshi top 3 batters batted impressively and went to add 250 + runs more at the scoreboard. 73 overs left in the game and they can still draw the match but of course their batters need to show some backbone.

A minimum of 42 overs remaining, and the 9th wicket has added 40 runs from 11 overs so far. I don't think that the tailend batsmen can survive for 40+ overs. I don't agree. Bangladesh is already playing tests against top teams regularly, since they are placed in the top division of test cricket. Zimbabwe on the other hand has performed pathetically, despite playing a total of 111 test matches so far. The other countries (such as Ireland, Netherlands and Afghanistan) also deserve the chances that Zimbabwe is getting right now. Opportunities and funding should be directly related to performance. As of now, Afghanistan is performing much better than Zimbabwe, and still the former is receiving only around 1/4th of the funding when compared to the latter.

Although, a rumour is going on that Mahmudullah has taken the decision for the negligence of BCB. Team management ignored him in some test series even though he was in good form and fit for playing.

What is going on with the Bangladesh cricket team? It sounds like almost every senior player has got some issues with the BCB. We all know the case of Shakib al Hasan. He has spats with BCB from time to time and probably that was one of the reasons why he got very harsh punishments in 2014 and 2019 (when he was banned from playing). Sad to hear that Mahmudullah also faced the same issues. Why there is no protest against the BCB, if they are mistreating the players in a regular manner? I am 100% sure that the BCCI would not have the courage to take such actions against their best player.

^^ He's 35 years old and his time was about to come anyway so he did good by taking retirement after such a good performance, which most of the subcontinent players avoid (unless they get drop) so good for Mahmudullah. If Shakib is not good term with BCB then i think his retirement is also coming.

If we take the financial aspect, then Shakib earns a lot more from franchise T20 leagues when compared to what he earns by playing for the Bangladesh national team. And along with Mustafizur Rahman, he was one of the top performing Bangladeshi players in the IPL. He is not going to lose anything if he announces his international retirement. Anyway, already he has been banned twice by the BCB, and they may also be happy about it. But the big question is whether anyone can replace Shakib in the national squad without weakening it.

Bangladesh's cricket board management does not like Shakib Al Hasan. I don’t know why they dislike their best player so much. I think Shakib is always against corruption so maybe many people dislike him. Moreover, many times we have seen a lot of news about the corruption of the BCB. I think that could be a factor.

The same is happening in Bangladesh cricket and Sri Lankan cricket, I think and to some extent, there are problems in South African cricket too because some good players have left for county cricket and I cannot imagine someone playing county when they have the talent to represent their country, players like Rilee Rossouw.

Shakib was banned because he was approached by a match-fixer and he failed to report it, which I believe was the right call from the ICC or BCB.

Shakib was banned because there was a delay in his part in reporting an approach from one bookie during the IPL. Now I don't understand the point in punishing solely him for this incident. He was representing an IPL franchise that was accused in match fixing. And the chances that the bookie could gain access to him without the knowledge of the franchise is minimal. In the end, Shakib got the blame for the fault of his franchise. The ban was decided by ICC, but the BCB offered him no support.

I saw the news. But how many players have not been positive so far has not been confirmed yet. Those who interact with these two players have been instructed to stay in isolation for 3 days. It would be sad for India if more players were affected.

I am not sure about the reason when they started the issue with BCB and Shakib Al Hasan but i came to know when he was banned about a charge a few years ago and he might not be a good character in their books because of his personality and and not listening to them and he is getting offers from other franchise boards when they are having matches and may be that is the reason

This is not a good sign. It looks like the COVID situation in England is once again worsening. I am quite surprised, because they have achieved more than 60% vaccination. The Delta variant seems to be resistant to the vaccines to some degree, and that is probably causing the spike in England. But my biggest worry is that once again the matches will be called off and we will be having a situation similar to what happened in 2020. Already many of the bilateral series have been postponed. If there is any more disruption, then these matches will be called off.

ECB saying that you have to live with the covid and they are not going to force English players in bio bubbles any more so i don't think they are in mood of cancelling the tour, even remotely. They quickly changed their full squad against the Pakistan when their players got infected in recent ODI series, this tells you their approach. On the other hand if more Indian players tests positive then situation could get bit tricky as all back up players are playing in the Sri Lanka.
