Honestly Barcelona has always depended on messi . I mean sure sometimes they were good even without him, rarely but it did happened back in the day, and he doesn't miss that much games neither, but this team saw periods where they had players like henry, eto, neymar and so forth from outside and players like iniesta and xavi most famously and a lot others as in house raised, but right now they really do not have too much, they have been not so great for a while now, specially last year as well.

However lets not overreact and act like Barcelona is relegating out of the league, they are still one of the best teams in the league and already a top 5 team in rankings as well, I am sure messi will figure something out with the team, and if not team will move to become better without messi by spending some money and getting some good young players up from youth teams.

certainly barcelona depends a lot on Messi, but we must consider one thing, the defense of barcelona has become very bad, in 12 games it has conceded 14 goals, among the top 6 teams in the table it is the one that has conceded the most goals. If we think that Atletico Madrid have conceded only 5 goals, then the problem is not Messi because Barcelona scored 25 goals.

certainly barcelona depends a lot on Messi, but we must consider one thing, the defense of barcelona has become very bad, in 12 games it has conceded 14 goals, among the top 6 teams in the table it is the one that has conceded the most goals. If we think that Atletico Madrid have conceded only 5 goals, then the problem is not Messi because Barcelona scored 25 goals.

The defense of Barcelona is always bad. In their golden era, the quality of their defense was questionable when they conceded some stupid goals but in those seasons, they had a few conceded goals. It contributed by their ability to dominate matches and their domination blurs the weaknesses for their defense.

Victor Valdes won some Zamora but his quality is never at the same level of Iker Casilas. The goalkeeper was helped a lot by the whole team to won those Zamora trophies.

In few seasons recently, the slippery of midfielders and attackers contribute to show weakness of their defense system than ever before.

As expected, Atletico Madrid will win against Elche. I won my bet.
Barcelona will play against Valencia today. They played very well in the previous match and won. I hope Barcelona will win today's match and be able to come forth place in the points table. On the other hand, Real Sociedad will play against Levante today. Levante is not such a good team. Real Sociedad will easily win today. I bet for Barcelona and Sociedad.

Atletico Madrid looks and plays like serious champions contender, Beating Elche 3 - 1 and i am sure the experiences of Suarez will further guide Atletico to an easy league victory considering that they have 2 unplayed ties ahead of other teams. Levante drubbed Real Sociedad 2 goals to 1 which is not surprising considering that Sociedad has not won a match day in 8 fixtures, 7 draw and 1 loss to Barcelona last week.

Barcelona held the mighty Valencia, 2-2 at home. I like Barcelona, but they may not even qualify players except Messi this year. They do not have any good strikers, rest are injured or flopped. This Koeman coach isn't taking Barcelona extremely far. Current Barcelona squad has little energy and this is Barcelona's most serious issue.

man i'm really surprised by la liga. even when real madrid experiences some difficulties, opponents manage to lose their matches to the point of real madrid recovering.

In Barcelona, things do not go as desired. the performance of the team depends on messi. When Messi's performance is bad, Barcelona cannot win a match. It is possible that they will lose points in the Valencia match.

Barcelona has very serious problems and Messi’s problem is just one of them.
I’m a little sorry to see Messi unhappy and struggling at this club instead of enjoying football and showing us his football genius.
Barcelona like this is really not a favorite in any La Liga match and that is a sad fact for the fans.

Everyone understands this. But it is very difficult to do. None of the presidents will sell Messi, but on the contrary will try to keep him in the team. The presence of Messi in the team does not allow building a new Barcelona. Everyone is used to the old one and can handle it.

I know I shouldn't say this but I actually laughed when I read this. Messi dyed/bleached his hair in that season and I thought to myself, damn why did he do that? Path of self destruction indeed and terrible Champions League exits ever since, but you know what, this time we meet PSG and have a chance to redeem ourselves against the guys who can never get past Semifinals;)

Barcelona's win against PSG will be very difficult. PSG is a immensely balanced team. But Barcelona is not that much balanced. Griezmann is still fighting to get back to form. But he still misses easy opportunities in every match. On the other hand, I think the main problem of Barcelona is their defense. It will not be easy to win a match against PSG  with a light defense.

Eibar had been performing quite impressive with even the top teams with a win over Sevilla and a draw with Real Sociedad, they would be in a good morale. But real Madrid too have stepped up it's game recently and they'd be difficult to contain. Eibar would have a home advantage and they make try to play a defensive game for a draw. Real Madrid would be without Eden Hazard, Vinicius and Isco. While Eibar would now miss Burgos while Enrich and others are still not in team.

It is obvious that Barcelona is not great with transfers, they rarely ever make a big transfer that works well for them, and whenever they do that, it is usually for a big name anyway. I haven't seen Barcelona make a transfer that is very small amount that turned out to be a great player. They usually either have players that was raised from their youth teams which I still think is one of the best if not the best in the world, or they just buy players like Neymar straight up and since they are good players they just fit right in.

Someone they bought for 5 million that became big name is not really that common at all. They also spent sooooo much money on horrible players, all turned out to be nothing at all, I just can't believe they have wasted so much money in bad transfers as well. This is Barcelona we are talking about, they will get back to dominating eventually but it looks like it is going to take some time.

@slaman29 indeed times have changed in La Liga, but in this particular match Ramos got really lucky when the ball touched his arm, and the referee decided not to punish him. Furthermore Benzema is playing on another level, and we have discussed about his performances earlier too, but I feel that he deserves a special praise for scoring and assisting in this match, and helping Real Madrid secure another three vital points.

Indeed Benzema and Ramos saved the day but will it put more pressure on Real Madrid to sign with him (Ramos) a (good) contract?

There will be a really delightful match between Real Sociedad and Atletico Madrid tomorrow night. Real Sociedad couldn't win their last five matches in the league. They had a really good form before that. They are at third position in the league. But they have too many important players who are injured now. Atletico Madrid have been doing quite nice. Joao Felix won't be able to play in this match because of his injury. He scored 5 goals in his 12 matches in the league. But I think Atletico Madrid will exploit the Real Sociedad's current condition and win this match.
