Maybe, but it's just the beginning of the season and I strongly doubt that either of Barcelona or Real Madrid  wouldn't win the league... If anybody thinks otherwise, I'm willing to put a punt on it my $40 for their $10, that either Barcelona or Madrid would win the league.

Yeah, quality is too good at the cream at the top, and others who should be challenging more like Atleti aren't quite willing to go for it all the way, so it's still going to be the same winners. I would think we need a few more games, at least till Match Day 10, to see if any of the teams NOT competing for Europe will get a chance. This is a crazy season so packed, it's going to throw up SOME surprises.

Quite alright, I'd agree that it's always about going all the way for a these underdogs, because more than not, the big dogs not performing to well isn't always enough, except the underdogs are having a stellar season too.

I'm not too sure the Odds are is too small (from my own 40bucks point of view, Lol), I'd love to know if there's a sportbook with a similar special

Both matche were supposed to be won by the two Spanish giant, but the result were unexpected. Once Madrid lost, I thought Barcelona would maximize the chances of winning the match. But in fact Barcelona also had to lose and that was really not fun. There are doubt that Ronald Koeman will not be fit to lead Barcelona to the end of the season (maybe just me) because of too many unpleasant result he has had in the last few game.

I took Barcelona as a favorite team to win LaLiga this year but to be honest they don't have a coach and some players are old enough in order to make them think of retirement like Pique , Bosquests , Jordi Alba and maybe even Messi to move to another team as nothing last forever. At least Real Madrid began the reconstruction 2 years ago with major changing in the squad and it's time for Barcelona to do the same.

Yeah, you know when I first started following European football in 1999 (thank Liverpool for that) I really had no idea of history at the time and so could only understand football from the scenario then. That was when Deportivo won too, and I thought they were going to be giants! Valencia winning also not long after, in fact with our beloved Rafa Benitez (who won it for them, like Klopp for Liverpool, after 30 years absence btw) but in the past 20 years after that, Real/Barca could only lose it 3 times, so yeah that's roughly 1 in 6 or 7 times for them NOT to win it;)

So yeah at least 1/6 is about right haha =p Still, I'd bet on either two.

Ah, give him a chance. I'm not so sure about him myself but he just needs to get the most of rising stars and past ones. But no coach will get them anywhere if they don't sort their board out first tbh.

Valencia continues the bad performances as they lost today with a 2-1 score.
It was an away match against Villareal but all those years Valencia was a better team. They conceded an early goal at 6' from a penalty shootout and then they couldn't take the lead at the match leading to a lose and a 3 point miss.

Real loosing at there he to Cadiz was the worst part of it all, not like they rested players, almost or should I say the entire first team featured in the game but, they still couldn't help it. They list right from the first half. Benzema had a few great balls but, it's often not going on target, often off target. Real tried to bring up there usually pressure at the die minutes but sadly, Ramos was on the bench and so, nothing seemed to work.

Barcelona on the other hand lost a good chance of taking the lead. Look at the chance the french man Antonie Griezman. That was practically a one on one and he missed, a world class striker as he is. I guess the both teams were destined to loose yesterday, even though Barcelona lost by a penalty.
It was funny because, the both teams shared the same scoreline. 1-0 for Barcelona and 0-1 for Real Madrid.

Cadiz and Getafe winning 1-0 defeating the two best teams in La Liga (arguably). Pity for me I couldn't predict either of it. A lot of rather surprising results tonight. Barca, Real. Atletico scoring two haha. Maybe we do get a surprise season after all, eh?

The result surprised me, madrid were dominant in possession but lost. I think Madrid have almost 70% bali possession. But winning ball possession does not mean Madrid can win. Cadiz was more effective in the game, I saw five shots on goal from Cadiz  and Real Madrid only twice on goal. Madrid can't seem to think which way the ball should be directed, they seem to have a deadlock in scoring goals. On top of that, Cadiz accumulated lots of players to defend after they scored.

The lose in the El Classico if happens will pull Barcelona back to serious troubles. Griezman, Messi, Bartomeu, and many things. I don't see how they can end this season as a champion. I don't want to make you sad but honestly I think Barcelona will end this season as a loser again, in La Liga and in Champions League. In Champions League, if they are luck enough, super luck, they can win a surprising trophy but it is very small odds. Bayer Muchen is here and they are still strong.

I still think Barcelona has more chances to win this season title comparing to Real Madrid which is very inconsistent right now. However, koeman has to find a suitable tactic and count less on Griezmann and more on Fati and Messi. On the defense line I will just pass, it requires more efforts...
In the other hand, ATM is doing quite well, didn't lose any game, 2 wins and 2 draws, it surely can do better and fight for the title. BTW they will face Bayern this Wednesday in CL

This week Saturday games were a total disaster for bettors.Real Madrid,Barcelona and Sevilla both lost their games to weaker opponents.This however is really good for the La Liga as the other title contender Atletico Madrid win their game and now the standings are a bit better.

Barcelona may not be in top 2 this season.

They certainly had a disastrous summer. The Bayern Munich debacle brought everything to a head, and their response to this has been poor. They've got rid of good players for hardly any money, forced Messi to stay against his wishes, and not really brought in replacements for the lost stars. They are really entering a transition period now, and the chance is there for Athletico or others to break into the Spanish top two.

If we look at Athletico, they already had a good team, and now they also have Suarez who has a point to prove against his old team, and is no doubt out for revenge after the way he was forced out. I don't think this will end well for Barca. I'm quite surprised that we have (currently) 38.2% of respondents to the poll picking Barca as champions.

I'm prepared to see them lose the crown again, but I have hopes that Koeman is also interested in rebuilding and stabilizing as opposed to winning rightaway. Though the board needs to fix itself first of all before all of this happens, so we're in for a rough ride this season.

Or Messi pops up as usual and carries us all the way to the end. Has happened before.

Yeah, Madrid have 75% ball possession. But i can't say that Madrid played well. Cadiz got less ball possession but they got 11 corner kick and 5 on target shots. After scoring a goal Cadiz played defending football. Because their target was to draw the match or win. And i appreciated that. If they had wanted to score more goals and played aggressive football, they probably wouldn't have won the match. Because Real Madrid's midfielders and forward are strong enough.

City have lost almost all their games last season while maintaining high possession rates. Liverpool used to also play like that but we now no longer treasure possession as much, and I can see more direct approaches being tried more often. It's of course correct that opponents cannot attack if they do not have the ball, but mistakes on the break can mean opportunities without creating chances -- which is almost how Liverpool lose goals this season too.

Madrid are now also learning that possession without creativity is going to kill the team spirit after a while too. They allowed 15 chances? Absolute recipe for disaster once defence starts getting tired.

don't worry because real Madrid is a team that even if it doesn't play well in the end always gives a way to be a champion or stay on top. Real Madrid is like a cat that has 7 lives. I wonder what would happen if the morning barcelona lost against Ferencváros, barcelona fans would the madness on social media if barcelona lose tomorrow. mainly because Koeman said that Barcelona is not the favorite to win the champions league, but he hopes that barcelona will get far, maybe he is talking about reaching the final

as a fan of real madrid i am very admired for the work that zidane does, even though real madrid doesn’t have a very beautiful way of playing like barcelona, real madrid wins the games and stays at the top, that's what matters at the end of the day

Rebuilding in a team like Barcelona is not easy. You can't just send players like Arthur which is young and get 30 year old players and call it rebuilding, that is not even a thing, plus Arthur was at least that good and had a potential to be better. Sure they have la masia which is worlds greatest youth team academy type of deal and I won't deny that, the amount of players that got out of there and became amazing is shocking, however not even they could produce another 2009 like situations from there, which means they will have to get some young and talented players.

Plus they have to be good as well, because if they are not good enough to fight for a title, that is not enough, Barcelona may not be champions every year but they have to be in the discussion every year.

Shows how corona impacted all the leagues and players.Players are not fit, have to go through so many procedures, cant relax a bit, can't focus only on football and as a result we have really volatile performances across the leagues.

You are right. Players are not fully fit at all. Their game play has become slow. Neither team has continuity of play.  After a long break everyone took to the field. It may take some more time to correct their mistakes.

Yep, win the ball possession won't guarantee the victory. It's not the era of tiki-taka anymore. Which team that can play effectively and can optimize every chance, they will win the match. It is about how the players can convert the opportunities to be goals and don't waste them. In my understanding, modern football won't rely on ball possession to win the match but focusing on how effective the players to create opportunities to make goals.

Why are so many strong teams now experiencing defeats, including Real Madrid, which already controlled the ball possession unexpectedly,
finally lost, because as you said as long as a player cannot effectively create opportunities to make goals, dominant in ball possession is useless.
Even though the coach's strategy is good, when players cannot create opportunities to score goals they will eventually lose. This is a lesson for
strong teams, focus on making even the smallest opportunity a goal, so don't play ball possession for too long.
