Can someone send me an Invitation Code, please?
Also if I activate the code and be online part-time, and solve the flip on time, will I get terminated?

Thanks

You are not protected.
And this completely contradicts what is written in idena manifest - "web without servers and censors, blockchain mining must be democratic, decentralization..."

Dear Idena community,

A new version of the Idena node is about to be released. This will be a hard fork. All the balances and identity states will be saved.
❗️Please do not submit flips, do not provide invitations and do not deposit DNAs to exchange during the next 1 hour.

The release announcment will be published soon. The miner status for all nodes will be deactivated. Once you update the node version, please activate the miner status.

Planned changes:
1. Delete flip submission transaction
2. Synchronization improvement: apply online mining status once per 15 minutes
3. Broadcasting protocol improvement: push & pull blocks and votes
4. Increase the number of flips for the long session to enlarge qualification committees
5. Limit the number of available invitations per epoch for the foundation address: min(500, max(50, 1/3*networksize))
6. Block proposer selection improvement
7. Bug fixes

How can I update to v0.17.1 on my VPS? Same steps as below but with the new version number?
Code:
cd /home && wget https://github.com/idena-network/idena-go/releases/download/v0.17.1/idena-node-linux-0.17.1
chmod +x idena-node-linux-0.17.1
screen ./idena-node-linux-0.17.1

Thanks!

Edit: Yes, replacing the version is the way to go.
Note: You can use the code above to update your node.

After the candidate passed the first validation no one can terminate your identity. Your inviter can only delete you from his contact list and even if this is possible, who are in their right mind that will do this since every successful validation of your invites gives you idena rewards upto 3 epochs.

One of my invite is already on its age 2 and i receive a total of 500 idena from his last 2 validations.

Oh god... so, your invitation got terminated and you got so pissed about it that now you are going to dedicate your entire life to bring down justice on Andrew?
Oh my god... that is so funny... Testnet guy and Hackerman...

By the way, no one mentioned that devs sent most of the funding for comunity proposed projects (Telegram bots) that Endogen is developing...

Why it is that I'm only getting one peer sometimes none at all and sometimes I got up to ten peers other sometimes even though I have a very good internet connection, what must be done to maintain those nodes, I have a bad feeling for things when the validation happens again.

I had the same problems with built-in node. Never got more than 5-6 connections. Then I decided that is better to go on VPS rather than running the node locally. There I have 17-18 connections all the time, and I don't need to keep my PC on 24/7.

If you still want to run the node locally, you should have a look in here: https://idena.io/?view=guide#guide-issues-1

That's interesting but I don't have knowledge on running IDENA in a vps can you please post instructions here on how you run IDENA in VPS and what is the monthly cost and what is the name of the VPS network that you are using to run IDENA there.

VPS is considered as advanced setup (I'm not responsible if you loose your nodekey...). Basicly linux setup, so you have to know some basic linux stuff... There is no graphical interface, which makes it even more dificult for linux begginers.

This is how I've done it:
1. Got promo on vultr.com for $5. This package is enough if you want to run one Idena node. Kudos to team for optimizing node in regards to CPU and network utilization.
https://www.vultr.com/?ref=8488851-6G

2. Once you register account, you must enter your credit/debit card.

3. Chose Operating system for your server. The OS that most users are using is Ubuntu 18.04 x64, this will install linux ubuntu without gui, and it runs great.

4. Under vultr console you'll find your server IP and password for root user, you need this to connect to your server from your PC... Let's presume you are running Windows on your home PC.

5. Download putty, it's a free program that connects to your server, and you can type in commands to deal with idena node and stuff...

6. In putty, connect to your servers IP address, just enter address in first screen of putty and hit "Open", it'll ask you to import some key, confirm it

7. Login as user root
and use password from vultr console... you can copy paste it since its complicated, when you right click in putty, its pasted, just hit enter after that

8. Next steps are from reb0rn's tutorial in discord, these are commands that you need to copy paste in putty...

a.
Code:
cd /home && wget https://github.com/idena-network/idena-go/releases/download/v0.19.0/idena-node-linux-0.19.0
(this takes us in home directory and downloads idena node)

b.
Code:
chmod +x idena-node-linux-0.19.0
(this gives idena node file, permision to execute, security measure)

c.
Code:
screen ./idena-node-linux-0.19.0
(this runs idena node in separate screen, If we dont run it this way, you would have to leave your putty window open all the time, as well as your pc)

d. Ctrl+A+D to exit the screen (use screen -r if you want to connect to it again)
(this disconects us from that screen where idena node is running but leaves it running in background, so we can exit putty without stopping idena node)

e.
Code:
nano /home/datadir/api.key
copy that code that you get and save it somewhere on PC
(nano is like notepad for linux, we use it to open api.key file, you need api.key which is password for accessing your node... so you can connect from idena client on your PC)

9. Now, close putty, open it again and setup putty tunnel for connection as in this picture
https://idena.io/?view=guide#guide-remote-2
In source enter: 9999
In destination enter: localhost:9009
After you click Add, tunnel is saved, you can close this window now.

10. connect to server using putty as beffore, using root/password... but now we have node running and tunneled connection...

11. Configure Idena client to use node on your VPS. Open idena on PC, go to settings>node turn off "Run built-in node", turn on "Connect to remote node", set:
Node address: http://localhost:9999
Node api key: that key that you saved previously using nano
Save both settings

12. Now check if you have some idena address by going to My Idena, you'll have some new address(robot) that is not yours... This is normal because you've run new node that generated new address.

13. Now you can transfer your private key/nodekey/identity to the VPS... We must find it on your PC, go to
Code:
%userprofile%\AppData\Roaming\Idena\node\datadir\keystore
(best if you copy paste this in some folders address) there you will find nodekey file. Open it with notepad and copy it... ALSO, IMPORTANT, BACKUP THIS, THIS IS YOUR PRIVATE KEY, DON'T SHARE IT WITH ANYONE.

14. Now we must put it on VPS... in putty, run nano to edit nodekey file on vps so you can paste it there
Code:
nano /home/datadir/keystore/nodekey
this will open current private key on VPS, you must delete it and paste your from PC. After paste, just exit nano(Ctrl+X) when it asks you to save, save it. Now you have transfered your identity to VPS.

15. We must restart node on VPS so it runs with new key/identity
Code:
screen -r
(return to running node)
Ctrl+C (shut the node down)
Code:
cd /home
(change directory from current /root to the /home where the node is)
Code:
screen ./idena-node-linux-0.19.0
(run it again)
Ctrl+A+D (disconnect from node screen as before)

Now when you go to client, you should see your identity/address/robot.

Now, you need to connect putty every time you want to open Idena client on PC (when making flips, doing walidation, sending coins etc...)
But node runs and mines on VPS...

So... this setup might take some time, make sure to check if mining is on, after all that you've done.

Also I have bot that checks your node online state and sends you an email notification if node goes offline... so you can restart it and avoid penalty... for third time on BTCtalk, PM me if you want to use it, its free...

I take donations Smiley

Well its easier just to put nodekey on something like gdrive if you use gmail. Then from vps download it and replace existing one.

Maybe someone from the team or a very earlier miner.

No, it was rather a buyer, because he has made a withdrawal of DNA he bought on the exchange. Probably investor (newcomer) who don't want to bother with mining.

I see. With "withdrawal" I thought you mean, from a bigger wallet to exchange, but it seems I misunderstood.

Maybe he is also a miner and he wants as much as he can get until it will take off. Either way is a good thing for DNA.
