This is going to sound strange but there is a logic that can be seen if Liverpool do not even buy any players before the season starts. The manager has a good pool of players (some young and some vastly experienced) to choose from and has more than enough talent to put forward an excellent starting eleven until the winter transfer window opens.

If their new manager prefers to select a team from his current squad to give him a perspective on how to engage during the winter transfer window to strengthen his group, that is his right. I will not blame the owners for not buying players if the manager does not want them. They should allow Slot to move forward the way he thinks best.

I think we need an elite defensive midfielder and a centre back. Not squad players, I’m talking players that go straight into the first team.

Slot did say the other day we will sign players before the end of the transfer window. We could conceivably start the season without signing anybody but get the deals done before the transfer window ends on 30th August at 11pm UK time.

There is insufficient squad depth, 2-3 injuries, and the team would have a major problem, Liverpool currently only has Academy players and a few world-class backups from the backline to the attack line. We all saw how they suffered during Salah and Jota's absences.

A club with a good transfer strategy does not need to wait until the deadline to get players done; instead, they do it earlier than anyone else. Take a look at Real Madrid and Manchester City transfers, for example; they never get players done on deadlines; instead, they enter the market early and pull out before it becomes crowded.

In improving the team's performance, Chelsea does indeed have quite a number of challenges. Despite having strengthened their midfield by acquiring a couple of talented midfielders, the problems in attack and goal are still evident.

Nicolas Jackson has shown his potential, but consistency in finishing would be needed from a main striker. If Chelsea wants to be competing at the very highest level, they might consider another proven striker.

With Nkunku injury-prone, Chelsea needs to figure out how to have enough depth in the squad, not just relying on one or two players.

The situation is also uncertain in the goalkeeping department. Now that Kepa is back and Petrovic is in good form, Chelsea will have to decide who to go for as the first choice between the sticks. Stability from behind is what begets confidence for the back line.

Overall, there are still a few areas in which Chelsea needs to address to be as competitive next season.

Let us just mention on paper they have a brilliant front line: Salah, Diaz, Nunez, Gakpo and Jota.

Their defence is pretty solid too: van Dijk, Alexander-Arnold, Robertson, Konate and Gomez

It is their midfield that seems in need of strengthening: Mac Allister, Jones, Elliot, Carvalho and Endo

As you said, a defensive midfielder would be a much needed addition but maybe a centre-back can wait until the winter transfer window. If that were the case they would want him to walk straight in to the first team rather than warm the bench but even after watching the Euros I cannot think of a name that would be appropriate for Liverpool.

Let us not mention race in this issue because it has nothing to do with it. Osimhen, with his injury history, is not worth €120m, and we all know it. Napoli did him wrong with his contracts, and PSG is the only club striving to make anything happen after other clubs dropped out due to the exorbitant fees.

It had to be thought about because when it involves African players, fees are always an issue. We know PSG to be big money spenders, they have quite a high reputation for spending big but as it's Victor Osimhen all of a sudden they don't want to spend again.  I think they're just using the money as an excuse. Osimhen is slightly overpriced but not as much as other teams has overpriced their players yet they're still being bought (that's football right now). You have to look at the race sometimes because I doubt it would had being the same outcome if it was a white player PSG were interested in but it's their money and their choice. PSG isn't even a top club and my boy Osimhen will get a better team (fingers crossed).

I think that's a good way to go about it.  Minimal spending, low expectations.  The kind of expectations that Manchester United should've had when Alex Ferguson retired.  I think the club would've been more stable under Moyes if he was given a chance.  They wouldn't win any trophies or finish top 4 every year tho.  But then again they didn't really win a whole lot after all the big spending and the different managerial changes.  Lol.

But yeah, no matter the results Moyes should've been given at least 4 years for stability before making the transition to a better manager.

Yeah, Chelsea has many goalkeepers already but still they are going for another goalkeeper. Another interesting part is that there is even a rumour like we could see a Kepa - Lunin swap deal soon. Swap plus money would be better to describe it in fact. 

I mean Lunin is a really great goalkeeper. I liked his effort while Courtois was injured. Then just finish only this deal, why would you sign Jorgensen too?    Unless they sell one of the current goalkeepers it doesn't make sense.

I agree on Osimhen. 130 million euros for him is just too much.

That defeat was a really huge one. Maybe this is only a friendly but it still give some signs about how prepared they are. I hope replacing Pochettino with Maresca wouldn't cost them too much. Because Pochettino was giving hope on the final weeks of last season.

With the manner in which Slot has gone about this process during the transfer window, he has kept Liverpool mostly out of the limelight. There have been no big buys or sales and he is keeping the squad as it was towards the end of last season. He is a new manager at a club that has a solid history behind it, I am sure he does not want too much press at the moment regardless of whether it was positive or negative. It sounds like a good strategy.

As for Manchester United, I agree Moyes should have been given more time. Ferdinand, Vidic and several other highly influential players were coming to the end of their careers at the end of the season and that would have allowed Moyes to bring his own players.

In the summer he made just one purchase and that was Fellaini for an astronomical amount (£27.5 million) as he was not worth that amount. Later in the winter transfer window they signed Mata for £37.1 million but he arrived in January and it was too late to try to save their season and his job. Getting sacked 10 months in to a 6 year contract must still hurt him today. He should have been given at least one more season but the club were impatient and sacked him.

Liverpool football club and their fans do not want Slot to head the same way.

It is true that Africans are undervalued; nevertheless, as I already stated, no team will invest that much money on someone on less than a 24-month deal who may become a free agent anytime soon.

There are rumours that Chelsea and Napoli may arrange a swap deal involving Lukaku for Osimhen, but Napoli must reduce their estimated fee, and Osimhen must also reduce his weekly wages for that to happen

The relationship between Conor Gallagher and Chelsea is over, he looks set to be sold for around £40 million. Atletico Madrid, Aston Villa and Tottenham are in discussion to try to get a deal completed. Atletico Madrid made a £30 million offer but it was rejected by Chelsea.

Aaron Anselmino completed his medical at Chelsea today. He cost £15.6m from Boca Juniors.

MANCHESTER CITY:
Manchester City manager Guardiola does not know if goalkeeper Ederson will stay or leave for the Saudi Pro League.

He did say the club did not receive any offers from the Saudi Pro League for De Bruyne therefore he will be staying even though his contract expires at the of next season.

No decision has been made about Kalvin Phillips after he returned to Manchester City following his loan last season to West Ham United. It seems as though Guardiola does not want him and it is best he finds a club that will buy him.

ARSENAL:
Elneny was allowed to wind down his contract at Arsenal and joined UAE team Al Jazira.

Runours suggest Arteta will try to sign Leroy Sane from Bayern Munich if he asks to leave the club if he is not happy with his contract extension offer.

Fulham are trying to sign McTominay.

Osimhen's agent is a real pussy, going about lying to the media and not telling the truth. The truth is that there were direct contact, Chelsea wanted a loan and option to buy, but the agent insists on "obligation to buy" rather than "option to buy" - not a bad clause if you ask me after the way we treated Saul and Felix after the end of their loan. This could be the only way out for Napoli to get their man Lukaku and for Chelsea to finally get rid of him.

I understand Mctominay, he did not play well at all, and he wasn't used that much. But, why Wan Bissaka though? Like that player is a good one and played very well whenever he did, they already bought a replacement for him, so now they are trying to unload him to another team but that doesn't make sense to me at all, it's such a terrible decision and I feel like we are going to end up with a lot of trouble as well.

The thing is that we are going to face a lot of issues if that new transfer doesn't work out, like how they sent De Gea away just because they got Onana, and for a while Onana looks like he is a worse goalkeeper than anyone here, they basically lost the UCL group stages because of him as well.

If De Gea was there, they could have given Onana a bit more time to mature with the team, and play them interchangeably for a few games, and they didn't. If they send Wan Bissaka away now, and the new transfer doesn't work out well, even for a while, that would mean that they would be basically having one side of defense lacking all game every game. They should keep him, and basically use them per game, that way they would have a chance to see new player grow, and be better, before they send Wan Bissaka away.

I am sure most Chelsea fans do not want Lukaku back and most would want Osimhen in their team but the latest I have read is that there is no update. What reason would FGS have not to back the new coach, they just appointed him, and he is supposed to have the full backing of the owners. If Liverpool don't sign players this transfer window it's going to be a big problem for them. I don't think that finance is the problem here, there haven't been any financial crisis report about Liverpool. Klopp was always backed up to get his players, but why is Arne Slot own being treated differently. As a new manager he should have brought in his players by now so they will do their preseason together to enable the team blend. If they don't get new players Liverpool will not make top 4 finish when the season starts. Although I read somewhere that Liverpool focus is to get English players to join their squad, as they are short of English players in their first team. Rumor have it that they are tracking Antony Gordon's of Newcastle and few other English players too, but time is going. I just hope this change of manager will not send them back to their struggling days in the premier league.

I had to check the latest news about this. Yes Chelsea have agreed terms with Atletico Madrid but reports say that Gallagher will be back from holiday next week therefore we do not know whether he will go to Spain (even though rumours suggest he would prefer it) because Tottenham could be making an offer too and he might opt to stay in the Premier League.

It seems the reason why Gallagher wants to leave is because he wants to be a regular starter and not just a squad player. If fairness to him, he is highly talented in his position therefore he has a case but it will always be up to the manager to make the selections. If it were about the money he would simply sign the new contract with bumper salary increase but he wants to play regularly at the highest level.

One other report suggest Napoli want to sell Osimhen because the recent contract he signed includes a massive salary they no longer can afford if they want to bring in other players. It seems Napoli will accept taking Lukaku if he takes a pay cut and sell Osimhen to Chelsea to get him off their payroll. It seems to suit both players and both clubs if a deal can be agreed.
