I am looking forward to the games starting again. Most of the teams have already returned to action in the Carabao Cup but they will be playing Premier League games this holiday weekend starting Monday 26th December 2022:

Brentford vs Tottenham Hotspur         
Crystal Palace vs Fulham         
Everton vs Wolverhampton Wanderers         
Leicester City vs Newcastle United         
Southampton vs Brighton and Hove Albion         
Aston Villa vs Liverpool         
Arsenal vs West Ham United

^  Finally!  With the World Cup now over and done with, it's now time for the real thing.    I'm not too keen and excited to make bets on these matches tho but I might.  Lol.  They're def be going to be really unpredictable as it's like it's the start of the season again.  :/  And of course I'm pretty sure there are gonna be injuries from international duty too.  That's what I really hate about the whole thing, be it World Cup, the Euros, etc, etc...

Anyway, I feel like a couple of underdogs could snatch some wins on Boxing Day.  What do you guys think of Brentford draw no bet at 2.80 and Aston Villa draw no bet at 3.10?

The thrill is back along with the English Premier League. observing Manchester United return to winning ways following the World Cup break makes me happy. And I'm eagerly anticipating a thrilling game on boxing Day. Being 26-12-2022. Now let's all concentrate on the club football. World has ended.

I quite understand you on this, and the same myself, I believe many would have this same feeling too. The reason is that clubs play almost every time, but the world cup is once in four years, which makes people more curious about it, and it's more fun too as players seem to be more serious with the tourney.

However, there is nothing you can do about this, you will surely adjust with time. I was even surprised when I heard that Liverpool and Man City played on Thursday, my thought was that it was EPL, not knowing that it was an EFL match.

The game you are referring to between Manchester City and Liverpool which ended 3-2 to Manchester City took place in the Carabao Cup (EFL Cup) and it was not a Premier League game. Your post would have been better placed if you had put in the Carabao Cup thread  

As for the Premier League, as mentioned in an earlier post the games start from 26th December onwards and there will be a succession of games over the new year period.

Manchester City and Liverpool had a great match, scoring five goals together. This time Manchester City won with 3 goals, two of which were scored after great passes by De Bruyne and a couple of times City could score more from the same De Bruyne. Haaland also scored as usual, his scoring sense is just "animal", no chance for the opponent if he is at the edge of the attack.
Liverpool also played well, but from the outside it seemed that they lacked skilled players in attack, and Salah alone was not enough to win. It's good that after so many years Milner is still in the ranks and plays very well, gives out assists and manages to insure the defense.

Now everyone will watch the Premier League game which is very interesting, the World cup is indeed interesting, all the star players are summoned to their respective countries to play in the world cup matches, and now the world cup is over of course, all the players return to their respective clubs and of course they will be busy practicing to strengthen their clubs, it's time for us to watch this interesting English league.

Actually, this club football is no less interesting than the world cup, here there are many top players and stars who play perfectly and in this club there are also some very interesting clubs.

It does not make sense for clubs to put out their strongest team for a domestic competition at this early stage (unless semi-final or final) but they will have to do it in order to try to get three points in the Premier League.

Eventually when clubs start fielding their first choice starting eleven players and go for wins the feel of friendly matches will be gone and they will be as competitive as they can be. If there was not much excitement in the Carabao Cup games it will be nothing but excitement from 26th December onwards when the Premier League action returns because it is all about getting as many points as possible.

I thought it belonged to the English Premier League, but I understand the EFL Cup does not belong to the Premier League, or rather teams that play in the Premier League participate in it.  Apparently it is not as prestigious as the FA Cup, but nevertheless, judging by the composition of the teams it is quite a representative tournament.
Well, and getting into the Europa League of the EFL winner (Carabao Cup), also an incentive for smaller teams.

We are only two days away from the first matches to start finally.

Leicester vs Newcastle seems like a competitive match to me. Newcastle are favoured by bookmakers @2.22. However this odd shows that they are also thinking that their job won't be easy at all. Because we don't have the same Leicester at the beginning of the season. They had really serious issues in defense at first. There was no problem with scoring goals but the weaknesses in defense dragged them down too much. But for many weeks, they have got really positive results by improving their defending as well. I think Newcastle should make as big effort as possible if they want to win this.

Happy Xmas in advance everyone and it’s great to know that the premier league would be back on Monday Boxing Day, I must say the Qatar World Cup was probably one of the best in history and also there is no competition without dramas.

Leicester has improved a lot in recent times, in their last 5 games they managed 4 wins and only one defeat, something quite incredible knowing that until a few months ago Leicester was very close to being relegated, but they managed to get out of the bad results, however their opponent newcastle comes into this game with a sequence of 5 victories in the last 5 games, newcastle is a very strong team that even when playing against strong teams they have not had difficulties, while the same thing cannot be said about leicester that playing against strong teams they don't do very well

for me this is a game in which newcastle not only comes with an advantage but will also be able to win this game, because one of the great qualities of newcastle is their excellent defense, newcastle and arsenal are the two teams with the best defense in the premier league, in 15 games they conceded only 11 goals, while leicester in 15 games conceded 25 goals, that's why I think newcastle won that game

Another loss for Lampard as Everton manager. Frankly, is Frank good enough to be a Premier League manager? Newcastle score a big win at Leicester and show their determination at trying to finish in a Champions League position. They currently sit in 2nd place now behind leaders Arsenal. As for Tottenham, they had to fight back to salvage a draw at Brentford. Welcome back to the Premier league after the winter World Cup in Qatar

The Premier League started and our thirst has been finally clenched. I have figured out and came up with couple of reasons why the premier league is good. One misses PL badly even after the world cup is over, the best reasons for this are:
1- The quality of the pitch. The environment is possibly the best for football
2 - The revenues of attendance and broadcasting is very high even for the teams playing for relegation.
3- Fan culture. Aside from their voices and reactions during the match, they support their teams with a focus on pleasure rather than results.
Because of these things, the premier league is number one. And what I have counted, there is neither in La liga nor in Serie A nor in Bundesliga. France League 1 is already not in these level. But there is a Bayern Munich, a Real Madrid, a Barcelona as a club, or a Manchester United, which has as much prestige in Europe as Milan in the past, and then Liverpool. Chelsea Arsenal has been seasonal. But the best league is the premier league, that's for sure.

Brentford 2 - 2 Tottenham

I had the opportunity to watch that game, and when Tottenham were losing by 2 - 0 and they were playing very badly, I confess that I had no hope of seeing Tottenham reverse that result, until then it went away for a while and when I came back the game was tied, and I remembered that this is not the first time this has happened to Tottenham, they need to improve in defense, so they didn't get far

Crystal Palace 0 - 3 Fulham

well, for me Fulham won that game because of that result because crystal palace was reduced to 9 players very soon, they couldn't do anything with such a disadvantage

Everton 1 - 2 Wolverhampton

honestly everton is a disappointment, they form the first to score a goal, and could have managed to get out of this game with victory but once again they lost, they already have a sequence of 3 defeats and are close to the relegation zone, I hope they think about signing good players

Leicester 0 - 3 Newcastle

as expected from newcastle, they won the game without much difficulty, they are the team with the best defense in the premier league and are also a strong candidate to win the premier league

Southampton 1 - 3 Brighton

Brighton dominated the game, they won the game without having too many difficulties and with this result they move to position 7 meanwhile Southampton's situation has worsened even more, it's almost certain that they will be relegated, it's sad but this is the most likely scenario that will happen

Aston Villa 1 - 3 Liverpool

luckily we managed to win even with so many good players who are injured, this victory is something very important

I hope he comes back as quick as possible. He has been much better than Nunez so far. It looks like Nunez still needs time to collect himself. He isn't even close to his performance at Benfica.

Everton is obviously not in a good form. They lost another game and with three games lost in a row they will have to change something soon or they will lose all hope to stay in the Premiership in the next season. However, this win for the Wolverhampton is a great first step for their new coach Lopetegui.

@JollyGood honestly I’m surprised that he’s yet not been sacked, because if the owner’s want to save Everton then Lampard should definitely be asked to leave because he’s not ready to handle a premier league club. Furthermore when the club fans boo on their own team it’s a clear sign that something is not right, and Everton board need to act right away before it’s too late to keep Everton in the premier league.

maybe with Cody Gakpo officially moving to Liverpool, they will play even better of course even though I'm not a Liverpool supporter but I think the win against Aston Villa last night was good enough to secure points, at least Liverpool didn't lose points and even though Firmino is still injured, I think Liverpool's game not bad
