Congrats as well @danherbias07, good hit on that Tapales win.
This is just one hurdle that Marlon did, he was a huge underdog, nevertheless he proved how smart he is, just outpointing Murodjon Akhmadaliev is very tough as this fight in the US. Good thing that 2 of the judges was fair, they even have the same score, so most likely it was very close but at the end Marlon did a good job.
But the biggest challenged for him will be the winner of Fulton vs Inoue. It's difficult fight, either who wins, IMHO.
So seems Filipino boxing fans got a very good news with Tapales' win. And they don't expect that it will be Tapales who will face first Inoue (if Inoue will beat Fulton on their fight). Because most are looking for Casimero to face Inoue, but it seems Tapales is on his track to face Inoue. If Tapales will do his job of preparing and not trash talk like what Casimero usually does, then, for me, he has better chance inside the ring. But we all know, when it comes to odds, Inoue will still be the favorite. For now, let's wait for the Fulton vs Inoue's results.

So seems Filipino boxing fans got a very good news with Tapales' win. Actually it feels like a treat, I am surprised that Tapales is able to get the split decision since the fight is too close. The former champion also performs well and actually I thought he was winning the fight. So I was surprised when the two judges gives the fight to Tapales. And they don't expect that it will be Tapales who will face first Inoue (if Inoue will beat Fulton on their fight). Who would have thought that Tapales would be the one waiting for the other title match to finish and possibly face for a title unification fight. Because most are looking for Casimero to face Inoue, but it seems Tapales is on his track to face Inoue. True! Tapales is actually out of the radar because Casimero is way more popular than Tapales but I think it is the other way around now. If Tapales will do his job of preparing and not trash talk like what Casimero usually does, then, for me, he has better chance inside the ring. But we all know, when it comes to odds, Inoue will still be the favorite. For now, let's wait for the Fulton vs Inoue's results.
I do not think Tapales can endure Inoue's punches. We have seen on the final round that Tapales almost kissed the canvas. So it is not impossible to think Inoue knocking Tapales out.

That is really something unexpected because honestly, PH boxing fans know and understand the gap between Tapales and the champion, Murodjon Akhmadaliev, but most ignored those technical aspects and backed Tapales for support. And guess what, Tapales might be the first one to have a shot on facing Inoue instead of Casimero, for let's say that Japanese monster won against Stephen Fulton in July. This is really good news for PH boxing fans and all of a sudden, Tapales becomes a big deal.

Right, I believe we were just too focused on seeing Casimero's movement rather than watching and seeing Marlon Tapales on his championship fight against the former 2-belt champion Murodjon Akhmadaliev. If I'm not wrong, we even don't a thread for that fight because Tapales isn't that famous compared to Casimero and as a Filipino, I'm guilty enough to admit that I didn't even know that Tapales got a championship fight last night. Anyway, I looked a replay on that fight and was surprised that even if the fight was close, Tapales prevailed and managed to give a hard time on his foe. Even Eddie Hearn was surprised that the judges favored Tapales instead of his boxer, Murodjon. Isn't it great, we got another Filipino champion again and I thought that Donaire or Casimero is the closest one to give that to us. Congratulations again, Marlon Tapales!

Good news for Filipino boxing fans, because we have a new champion in Marlon Tapales who beat and shocks Murodjon Akhmadaliev to wrestle his two belts with a majority decision with, 115-113 for Tapales and then one judge score it a lopsided 118-110 for Akhmadaliev (maybe he is on the payroll, hehehe). Both started slow but it was more of Tapales outworking him the middle to the later rounds and Akhmadaliev have signs of ring rust. And Marlon showing his shoulder roll
And now we have a new champion at 122 lbs, and Tapales or at least the winner of the Fulton and Inoue will be all go out for a super bantamweight unification fight later or early next year.
That is great news for the Filipino community that Marlon Tapales has brought to the Country, and I think he surely has a great record right now if you look at his records he got 37 wins now at the age of 31 but I think it is not enough he needs to have some fights that could surely up his rankings but I think slowly but surely is the key here, but time is at the essence and he really know that,

Wow, congrats on your big win mate. I missed all the boxing fights today as i'm out of town, i could also bet the same as yours.
Nevertheless, congrats to Tapales for unifying the WBA and IBF super bantamweight title. That was a close one but still a win so Filipinos are proud of him but the road to unifying all the belts is an uphill climb as either Inoue or Fulton is waiting in the wings which will make him the huge underdog if ever that happens in the future.
Thanks and yes, all the credit to Tapales' hard work. This may be one of the biggest upsets in boxing history. Inoue or Fulton, that is going to be a task that he should prepare after celebrating his win. That fight will probably put his name in a better place and records will be set if one Filipino could unify all the bets. If it will be Inoue, it will be a bonus as he could avenge the Filipinos that were defeated by him. Donaire. Congrats as well @danherbias07, good hit on that Tapales win.

Thank you. The other judge though seems to have a different perspective about the fight. I understand how we have different views but 118 against 110 for Akhmadaliev seems to be going too far. It almost looked like he was paid to be a judge. (assuming) It's a close fight, and it should be seen in their scores. The score he gave is too questionable.

Joyce vs. Zhang
It's obviously a cherry pick by Joyce because Zhang didn't even able to beat Filip Hrgovic, Joyce is better than Hrgovic, I think Joyce will win via KO since his KO rate is really high. If Joyce win via KO, it will boost his mental and he will be confident enough to challenge Tyson Fury for WBC belt. If he only win via decision, I think he will take few fight more. It almost looked like he was paid to be a judge. (assuming) It's a close fight, and it should be seen in their scores. The score he gave is too questionable.
It's nothing surprised there's always one judge have a controversial score.

It sure do look that he got paid in my perspective, I mean, look at those two other judge as they both scored 115-113 in favor of Tapales and then there is this Javier Alvarez (judge) who scored way out of the line and tried to pull Murodjon's chances or at least tied the outcome of the fight. If it wasn't for that judge, the fight could've ended with a unanimous decision in-favor of Marlon Tapales because he totally deserved it as he owned most rounds in the fight. Also, Eddie Hearn tried to make an appeal that the score was wrong and his cow, Murodjon, should have won that fight and retain his belts. Better luck next time, Hearn! It's already obvious that your cow(s) really got some help in almost every fight you made.

Congratulations to him, his name isn't noisy but he's lowkey achieving things and bringing the banner of our country. There is now another someone, a kababayan that we can watch the path of his career in boxing. I haven't watched the match yet since we've just come from a long holiday but then, it's nice to see that another countrymen, a boxing professional is making his own name and winning matches.

I'm guilty as well because I really thought that Donaire is the nearest one to achieve a championship status because Casimero is still earning his name at 122 now, what I know is that Tapales is in super-bantamweight as well, but I didn't know that he was scheduled to fight Murodjon Akhmadaliev who had the IBF and WBA belt. I was surprised yesterday morning when I saw the news that we got a Filipino champion who recently upsets a champion at 122 and found out that it was Marlon Tapales. So proud of him because he is so dedicated and fought his way to become a champion even if his fight didn't make any noise.

But have you guys imagined if it's Inoue who faced Murodjon? I mean, their camp must've thought Murodjon could easily defeat Tapales and yet it became upset. If it's Inoue right there we may have witnessed how far Inoue's power is even in a higher weight class. I am excited to see Tapales agreeing on the challenge to unify the belts if Inoue wins against Stephen Fulton. It's either another record-breaker for Japan or it will be for the Philippines. Was there a contract that Murodjon will get a rematch after this? I mean, that's two belts stripped from him and I doubt he will stay silent about that.

I'm also curious if the rematch claw is under the contract in between Tapales and Murodjon, if does then we will expect another fight between them and it might be a tough for the new Pinoy champ knowing that he almost kiss the floor, but for now let him enjoy the luxury and the pride he brings to the country. Again, we have another champ that might bring more glory if ever that there's no rematch and the possibility of facing the other champ to unify all the belts in this division.

Two major surprises occurred. With two belts, Marlon Tapales is the new champion. I keep thinking about whether the new boss is willing to match himself to the victor of Naoya Inoue and Steph Fulton.
Another upset occurred when the powerful left hook of Brian Mendoza caught WBC interim champion Sebastian Fundora off guard. Jermell Charlo, the undisputed champion of the division, currently has two mandates ready to include Tim Tszyu.
Takuma Inoue, the brother of Naoya Inoue, is now a world champion after acquiring the WBA belt left by his brother.

Takuma Inoue, the brother of Naoya Inoue, is now a world champion after acquiring the WBA belt left by his brother.
We might see a fight between Inoue and Donaire in the future, but this time it won't be Naoya. Donaire needs to win his championship fight to become a champion again, and if he does, there's a chance for a unification fight. I'm confident that Donaire will not go down against Takuma Inoue since he doesn't have the same level of skills and power as his brother.

Yeah high likely and it's true Takuma is really different with Naoya, I think Naoya have trained Takuma to become a better boxer, but based on the record they're different. Takuma biggest fight was against Nordine Oubaali and it's an one sided match where Oubaali dominating Takuma. Takuma haven't fight outside from Japan too, so he will be under pressure if he fight outside from Japan.

We're all proud of him but he wasn't given the same attention as the other champions that we've got. But this is just the start for him and I'm sure that there will be more fights about him as well and also the media should cover more of him. So that his name will get some recognition and many will start to know who he is and that he's not just a nobody but another champion that has already been made and there's more of him.

Technically, that should be the case.
However, there are things that might influence a supposed fight. Canelo sticks to his quote before that he will never face a fellow Mexican although, at some point in his past interview, he added that if things really can't avoid, he will fight anybody. He might consider facing Benavidez in the future as the latter earned his spot to be eligible to face Canelo.
Ah, that is why many are saying Canelo is ducking Benavidez, it s not because he is afraid of Benavidez but the statement he made before that he does not want to fight his fellow Mexican unless is avoidable. It does make sense now why there is almost no chance for Canelo and Benavidez unless mandated by the sanctioning bodies. Moving forward, Benavidez is determined to beat Caleb Plant for the possible face-off with Canelo later on. And if Canelo will still insists on not fighting Benavidez because of his view about fighting fellow Mexicans, no choice but to drop his belt or there might be some boxing-related politics that will ruin the possibility of that match happening.
If Benavidez beat Caleb, the super middleweight boxing will be more interesting because there is a chance that WBC might implement a mandatory title fight between Benavidez and Canelo. I think Canelo will give in to the order and fight Benavidez. The truth is, I would like Canelo to be able to face Benavidez, also, as Canelo is, he should accept the challenge, I don't understand why some boxers have to beg so much, Canelo wants to fight with everyone and in the end he doesn't fight with anyone, I understand that Canelo He wants to measure himself with the best, but if the others already have their commitments, a Famous boxer should not be with those things, he should have enough Conviction of what he is and what they have, There is no other way. I agree. The governing bodies should step up and meddle in in these situations because they are the only ones who can fix the system because there are lots of good boxers that are waiting for their time to shine and it may take much more than a while to have their chance because these champions are keeping the belt at safe while only fighting cherry-picked fights. These interim champions should be given the priority to have a bite against the regular belt holder because they thrived hard to be in the exact position where they are in now. Just look at the welterweight division, there are a lot of good names there but they cannot move because Spence is taking their chance away and messing with everybody's time. It is that this is what I have always been seeing, but lately things have been more shameless, I was a boxer and I did that, what I am showing is that I am afraid, and with fear one cannot live, especially in this sport, there are many who want to emerge, but they create a kingdom where it is very difficult to enter if you do not have the right sponsors, if you are not in the business model, no matter how good it is, they do not include you, that is sad, I see that in my country Because things are handled based on money, if the athlete is related to someone from the government or has a lot of money, then they give him the opportunity, here that is called "Rosca", but at high levels like in professional boxing It is very cheeky and what is seen.

I think that's what Filipinos started in their journey, they started low key like Manny Pacquiao and suddenly burst into scene like recently John Riel Casimero. And it seems that Tapales is somewhat late in the party, we even haven't heard his name in the last 3 years if I'm not mistaken. So it's good to hear that another Filipino won a belt against the bigger opponent and the obstacles that he has to go through. Now he is waiting, against the winner of the Fulton vs Inoue fight. And it's good that at he will have more time to prepare as that fight is moved to June. So congrats for having another one of our 'kababayan', having a championship belt.

I don't really want to think that BIG BANG Zhilei Zhang is just a cherry-picked for Joe Joyce, even though he didn't beat Filip Hrgovic and it is a Unanimous Decision victory for Filip Hrgovic A fight with Joe Joyce is also a different story, but that is what you think but for this fight, Joe Joyce is 2 years younger than Zhang so maybe he can get this done, or analysis it with their fight maybe Joyce have seen that he has a significant advantage against Zhilei Zhang, Two major surprises occurred. With two belts, Marlon Tapales is the new champion. I keep thinking about whether the new boss is willing to match himself to the victor of Naoya Inoue and Steph Fulton.

Naoya Inoue after the Stephen Fulton fight if he wins that fight the next target will surely be Marlon Tapales to unify the WBO super-bantamweight titles sure that will be a great fight to watch but I indeed am worried about Tapales because seeing how Naoya Inoue's style and how he fights well I am not really underestimating Fulton but I really think that Inoue will win against Fulton, so yeah I guess I will bet for Naoya Inoue if the odds was great,

Yes, he is very different from his brother, but as of late, I've seen glimpse of his recent fight and there are some flashes of Naoya too. However, he is too cocky as compare to his brother and maybe this will be his downturn just saying. As for the Marlon Tapales upset, he riding high on a 3 fight winning streak, including the eliminator as who is going to face Murodjon Akhmadaliev. You can call it upset, but for me Tapales is somewhat on his prime right now, it might be very short for him but as least he has taken advantage of and his next fight could really define his career.
