When we were younger, the Super eagles used to be the pride of Africa and we would always cheer the team in every game showing our support and patriotism with joy but now supporting the Super eagles team only brings pain and disappointment. We have the players, the team is blessed with top professionals but we fail to win games comfortably. The government and politics seem to have major impact and influence on the game, it really has to stop because it is causing more problems than good and soon good players we have abroad will not want to represent the country anymore for the fear of failure and wasting their careers playing for an unserious national team.

Like you rightly said, political interference in the Super Eagles team is one huge problem that has affected the Nigeria national team and for team to flourish in not just Africa but also the world stage, the federal government must allow the team management to make decisions on their own especially on players to call up for games.

But talking about their lost against Guinea-Bissau on Saturday, i think it was caused by tactical errors. The team they never played like a unified team and the fans were relying on the brilliance of star players to win the match which never materialised because the Guinea-Bissau team where disciplined in their defense. Another factor that led to their defeat is that it a belief that the national stadium in Abuja isn't  good ground for the Super Eagles.

I wouldn't say the Guinea-Bissau team were that discipline but the Nigerian team were poor with their crosses or passage of the ball to Victor Osimhen. I felt bad for Osimhen because of the kind of players he was playing with. Imagine leaving Napoli with their brilliant players to play with someone like Lookman, Iheanacho that were very poor on the ball, Ahmed Musa was the only one that looked like a threat when he came on, the rest were just average and Victor Osimhen can't work with average.

In the return leg, the coach better starts Ahmed Musa irrespective of his age because that players still has a lot to offer than this other guys thinking their performance won't affect their position. If I was the coach, I'll bench 90% of the players that started that game. Also don't he have another goal keepers, I think the correct one is a mess and needs to be changed with immediate effect. We have good keepers playing in the domestic league. They should go scout and call them up to the national team.

Could it be true that a stadium has anything to do with the Nigerian team's success, especially on their home soil? It is also believed that homegrown coaches are not capable of winning on the big stage. Is there a difference between countries using indigenous coaches in foreign countries and countries that use foreign coaches.
Nigeria had opportunities to score but were ultimately unable to find the back of the net, resulting in their defeat. I sort of blame the pitch for the loss. You may disagree but  I noticed the grass on the pitch as too high compared to other pitches. They need to carry out regular maintenance on the pitch. Who else noticed that the grass almost swallowed the boots of the players. If affected the players firing range. One other thing is that the Nigerian team lacked understanding and team work was lacking. I don't blame them though because they need more time to play together for better understanding to ensue.
It is expected that the team and staff will analyse and discuss the game in detail, including a report on what caused the defeat, which should include the pitch's condition. Almost all Nigeria players play in leagues with better pitches, and you bring them to a pitch that favours the opponent. Leadership still plays a crucial role in this, as they don't require success from everyone appointed

The supper angle did not have pitch malfunctioning since the Abuja national stadium is up to international standard and approved by FIFA,  so I can't ascribe supper eagle losing to the field condition I watched the match live, and the Nigeiria team were playing like over feed babies.

-While their opponent came out fully prepared to win so that was what made the references.

Generally the standard of pitch in Africa is low, but that is not the reason we lost the first leg. In this second leg, the Nigerian team have played pressing football from the start of the game to the end of this first half, we were lucky to win a penalty that Simon Moses was able to convert to goal. We had another very good chance were Chukwueze and Osimhen were against two defenders but Chukwueze decided to be stingy with the ball and went ahead to try his luck playing the ball off target. Had he passed the ball, Osimhen who was perfectly placed would have scored.

Passes from Iwobi have been very off target, this is not the Iwobi that we know from Everton.

You are right there is no doubt the fact that the standard of most African pitches is below average standards but to say the bad condition of the pitch becoming an advantage to the away team rather than the home team is something that doesn't go well with most of us.

-That brought us to the other points you mention in your comment, I think instead of blaming the defeat on the pitch condition we should blame the players who failed to cooperate or contribute adequately to secure goals.

My time was entirely wasted throughout the match and I regretted going through the stress of watching the match live in the stadium, I could have watched the match via tv but decided to watch the match live since the match was around my neighbourhood.

Going through the ticket-buying process and wasting my 1k to watch the suppers eagle playing life super chickens, and the eagle has lost its faders.
Even as you watched the match, I learned that the Abuja stadium was somehow empty(there was not a huge turn-up in the match between the Nigeria team and Guinea Bissau). People choose not to come out in mass to show their support for the super eagle based on the fact what transpired in the country's presidential election(election rigging).

It is disappointing that Super Eagle, who is currently rated 35 in the FIFA rankings, lost to a team that is ranked 118.

In the second leg, Nigeria's Moses Simon scored the only goal in the 30th minute. I wonder what changed with the team. Were they more motivated? Maybe they were just under pressure to win after receiving a heavy backlash from Nigerians following their defeat at the National Stadium. I expected that there would have been more than two goals since the first goal was from a penalty kick. Anyways, they are two points ahead of their opponents on the table and on June 12 will face Sierra Leone.

At least they have secured a win which is the most important thing, I was really disappointed from the result they got from their first match, the fact being that they were playing from their home ground but nonetheless they have equalled the match up today by securing the needed win from away, although they would have been more goals in the game but I guess the single goal from simon mosses was good enough to seal the job.

Finally, they won the match. This has put a  smile on my face because I thought that they will mess the game up. Moses scored with  PK,which has given Nigeria victory over Guinea Bissau

An away win, shows that they took this game serious. Nigeria players are stronger than Guinea Bissau and this is why I wasn't happy with their lost at home. I am looking forward to the next match which is between Nigeria and Seria Leone. This match should be taken serious by the players and let them not ho and fill relaxed because they won today's match.

Now Nigeria Super Eagles are struggling to even qualify for the African Nations Cup which was a work over for them. If Nigeria Super Eagles continue like this in their football matches, Nigeria football game will just die down which has already happening now. Look at today match

Guinea Bissau(0) - (1)Nigeria
Super Eagles which was one time African champion could not win Guinea Bissau in their first game and struggled to survived in the second leg today. I was really ashamed of the match. I don't think Super Eagles can go far in the tournament. They can't impress anyone again.

Nigeria took the revenge from the defeat they got from Guinea Bissau by the same score 1-0. They are currently in the first position in Group A with 9 points followed by Guinea Bissau with 7 points. Nigeria is able to finish in the first place in my opinion.
So far I see all classic good nations in football topping their group except Ivory Coast in the second position in Group H since they still lacks a game comparing to Zambia

The second leg of the encounter between Guinea-Bissa and Nigeria showed that the Nigerian team improved. They controlled the game and created many goal scoring opportunities. The score would have been more than one zero if not for the classic display of the Guinea Bissau goalkeeper Jonas Mendes. Terem Moffi and Victor Osimhen were constant threat to the defense of the host until Moses Simon got the winning goal through a well converted penalty. Jose Peseiro’s men need to improve if they are interested to make a mark in Africa.

We also need to note that Nigerian cannot just have a free day winning all their games against lowly rated teams. This is because almost all the teams in Africa have developed thier football sector. Some of them have experienced and committed local coaches that understands African football. Nigeria needs to improve because other perceived small teams have kept investing in thier national team. Regardless of the goal margin, Nigeria have just collected three important point.

If we had not had the penalty, the game would have ended goalless, it is what this result means. We played better than the home game but still had the same challenge of scoring goals. Even players that use to be impressive before when they just started are now playing selfish and bullshit football. We are lucky to be be topping the group with Guinea- Bissau following closely. José Peseiro has to do a better job with our super eagles because their performance is not yet satisfactory.

We will play against Sierra Leone next before we meet Sao Tome and Principe for the final game to determine if we will play in the AFCON or not. Before those games, we have to become used to scoring goals again.

The black stars on the other hand were lucky to have gotten an equalizer in the second half after Angola scored from the penalty, they maintain their place in top of the group.

The Nigeria supper eagle really improved in today's match at least they won the match with a penalty all win is won anyways, but sincerely speaking the supper eagle team is still performing below average which is not something to be encouraged.

-Let's just hope they match up the games in subsequent matches unless they don't want to qualify for this round, I lost my motivation to watch the match due to my experiences in the last game.

A match that I have been longing to see has come and ended in a disappointing manner, is it me or is this Super Eagles a joke or what? I can't say their performance was great or outstanding, 0-1 win to a team that I was expecting that they [Eagles] would beat with a 3 goal margin at least and the game ended in a disappointing fashion, is really not the best I have to say.
Let's leave the first game aside but I was expecting a much serious force to be in today's game, with all the Eagles have to beat a 118th place Guinea-Bissau and yet the Super Eagles who occupy 35th place in the FIFA World ranking could not, only to get a goal.

I just feel that the Super Eagles are making players like V. Osimhen, Iwobi, Moses Simon and the others look like players who don't know how to play football but right in their various clubs they're the key players, frankly speaking I think there's a lot of work that need to be done in this Super Eagles team.

Back to business end, everyone? Morocco now joined by Algeria as certain contestants for next year's edition. I admit I haven't been following these qualifiers a lot, and probably a good thing too... as I see the regular favourites getting wins while the guys I backed in last edition haven't (looking at you, Madagascar!).

Time to back one of the virgins: CAR, Congo, Guinea, Nigeria (duh) and Sudan? They all won the last game.

Maybe the pressure and critics was what they need to force them to do better. It's a shame how poor our national team is performing and still bearing the name "Giants of Africa" when in my opinion the real giants of Africa are senegal and Morocco. We were lucky the Super Eagles were able to secure a win with that one goal they scored.

Ongoing match result
Guinea Bissau(0) - (1)Nigeria
In the second leg, Nigeria's Moses Simon scored the only goal in the 30th minute. I wonder what changed with the team. Were they more motivated? Maybe they were just under pressure to win after receiving a heavy backlash from Nigerians following their defeat at the National Stadium. I expected that there would have been more than two goals since the first goal was from a penalty kick. Anyways, they are two points ahead of their opponents on the table and on June 12 will face Sierra Leone.
I watched the match, it's a pity that the Super Eagle couldn't score a goal in an open play throughout 90 minutes, if not the penalty awarded against their opponent the match would have ended goalless, Super Eagle ought to have thrashed the Guinea Bissau team, unfortunately poor finishing was the order of the day, Chukwueze was very poor in the attack and often selfish with passes he couldn't link up perfectly with Victor Osimen while Moses Simon dribble unnecessary, though the Super Eagle did controlled and took most the possessions but their final third was very poor, however it's good we are topping the table and will surely qualify but I wanted a more improved Super Eagle who will feared by their opponents.
