Morocco had a great performance at the last World Cup. They defeated Portugal 1-0 in the quarterfinals and qualified for the last four. I am sure they will carry their great performance in the World Cup to the African Cup of Nations. They are my biggest favorites. They have quality players like Hakimi, En-Nesry, Bono and Ziyech. Other teams also have quality players. However, Morocco's playing tactics puts them a few steps ahead. They defended very well and had good counter-attacking opportunities in the World Cup. I think if they successfully apply the same tactics in the African Cup of Nations, they will be the favorites again.
At the world cup Morocco can gets 4th place because they lose from Croatia for 3rd place match but indeed this is fantastic achievement from them because this is the first time for Morocco to advances to the semifinal matches of world cup and at African Cup Morocco will be at group F with Congo, Tanzania and Zambia although i didn't know the strength of these teams but if we see from squad quality probably Morocco can able to beat all of them and they have a potention to qualified as group champion

After world cup Morocco still playing to several friendly matches and African cup qualifier matches and so far they still able to managed their performance because from total 7 matches Morocco only lose once even several months ago they can able to beat Brazil through an friendly match and regarding their status at African Cup i am not really sure to placing them as the favourite considering Morocco achievement in this competition is not too impressive because if i am not mistaken Morocco only able to being an the champion once time at 1976 and for the champion favourite i think Egypt, Cameroon, Ghana still being an strong candidate to gets the trophy

@bering for me personally I feel that Egypt will win because of the Salah factor and currently he’s playing very well hence I feel that he can single handedly help Egypt win. Lastly another team on my radar is Senegal because of Mane and even though he now plays in the Saudi League I yet feel that his mere presence will be a big boost for them and they would definitely be one of the favourites to win this tournament.

Mo' Salah has been really remarkable this season for Liverpool, but his success in Liverpool this season has not just been from his own effort, but the general effort of his club members. If Egyptian team and other players can provide same kind of support that is being provided to Salah in Liverpool, he will be able to provide same remarkable performance for his National side. On his own without support, Mo' Salah will not always be able to carry his team.

We(Nigeria) have the best strikers in the competition, and If enough chances are able to be created for them, we have a great chance to win the competition.

Nigeria have suffered a major injury blow ahead of their 2023 Africa Cup of Nations opener against Equatorial Guinea with key midfielder Wilfred Ndidi ruled out of the tournament in Ivory Coast. https://www.allnigeriasoccer.com/read_news.php?nid=49984
Is this really a major blow? I don't know the super eagles line up well but with the little that I know, we aren't doing well and it will take a while so this news of the super way suffering a blow because Ndidi will not be featured in the game doesn't move me at all because the results will not be different.

There are many young talents that can quickly be used as replacements to fill in the position of Wilfred Ndidi. The coach should already have picked Alhassan Yusuf as his replacement. He is not a name I am used to hearing Because he doesn't play in any of the big teams in Europe but plays in Europe. He will want to increase his popularity by performing well, so he should be good. Cameroon's goalie will not be joining them early because the club wants him to play for Manchester United against Tottenham before they release him to the team, so maybe he will miss out on their first game.

Ndidi's form has dropped drastically since their team get relegated. He used to be among the best defensive midfielders in the Premier League due to his talent and good defensive work, but his performance is not more recognized in the League anymore as they couldn't help their team to escape relegation; therefore, I don't think the Super eagle of Nigeria will rely on him throughout this coopetition whereas they have some talented players that can replaced Ndid and play better than him.

The Super eagles lost to Guinea. The players they fielded was liked their team B. Though I am not making excuse for them but then I wasn't expecting too much. The coach should use the formation we have been conversant with. The 352/343 formation was a flop as it made a loophole. He should stay with the 433 formation during the AFCON and not this one he used in this match. I am waiting for anyone who would make an excuse for their loss. We'd see when the AFCON kicks-off.

Morocco have improved on the way they play their football and a big testimony to that fact is the success they got at the World Cup. They are the first African country to get to the Quarterfinals and this a notable feat. Now at the AFCON, they’re in a group consisting of Congo, Tanzania and Zambia which I feel won’t be much of a stress for Morocco, they'll come out of the group stage with ease and move to the next round.

I believe Morocco will top the group and achieve a notable feat at the AFCON this time around. This is also because of the feat they’ve achieved and the way they’ve maintained their victory after about seven friendly matches. Well we can’t see them as favorites yet but they can pose a nice threat to serious teams like Egypt, Senegal and Cameroon which seem like the competition’s favorites.

Nigeria will most likely qualify to the next stage even though their group doesn't contain easy opponents. In their first match, they seem to be favourite than Equatorial Guinea. In the second match, they will face Ivory Coast, in case of defeating them, Nigeria will guarantee qualifications, otherwise they will have to wait for the third round to qualify. Either way, they will qualify and the first place will be important to avoid precious adventure against top teams since the first rounds

Let the games begin for the super Eagles to show their calibre, that's all I wait for because this cup is responsible for taking the time of players like Iwobi from Fulham, Osimhen from Napoli and other great players that have been phenomenal for their respective club sides.
The first and second matches will be the hardest because the Eagles even failed to win their friendly as a warm up match following their African nations opening matches.

In a group that contains Equatorial Guinea, Ivory Coast and Guinea-Bissau, I expect the Super Eagles of Nigeria to surely progress to the knockout stages. The only game in that group that I think will give the Nigeria national team serious concerns will be the game against the host nation Ivory Coast but that will be the second game of the group and if they can beat Equatorial Guinea in their first game of the tournament, it'll give them the confidence and morale to play in their full strength against Ivory Coast. There are many other teams with quality players but I still think the Super Eagles are the favorites to win the tournament.

The super eagles happens to be in a team of their equals so it's more likely a qualification for the best teams, in recent times the super eagles have not failed to get lass the group stage in most of their AFCON encounters and I doubt if this may be different because they have got a good and formidable team this time around, but the absence of Boniface almost sounded like a setback and For me it's really sad he had to exit the AFCON even before the main competition started but then I wish him quick recovery.

Seeing victor osimhen , Ahmed Musa , and the other international Stars in the super eagles team gives me a lot of confidence as to how week they will be able to perform in this AFCON this year, I just feel if they are able to get to the quarter finals, it's very possible they can come home with the trophy but until then let's wait for their first AFCON game for this year.

I hope we are not going to Ivory Coast to mess up in this AFCON, I just hope that our group shouldn't make we the supporter to start using our calculators at the end of the group stage. The Super Eagles have what it takes to qualify from that group and I'm not talking about winning the AFCON yet because we need to take it one step at a time if not is going to hurt us badly.
I wonder the kind of formation we're going to use because it seems we don't have any formation that favors us, today we use 4-4-2 tomorrow we use 3-4-3, like what is José Peseiro planning for we the supporters? Are we even sure the Super Eagles are ready?🤔

We would all likely be confused if we tried to predict which nation would win the African Cup of Nations based on the quality of players they have in leagues like the Premier League, La Liga, Bundesliga, and Serie A. This is because nearly all of the African nations that made it to the AFCON hosted in Guinea Bissau have one, two, or multiple strikers who have played in the leagues I mentioned above.

The most amusing thing about football that I've noticed is that no player can ever bring home a trophy for his nation or team. It's a group endeavor. Not to mention, assembling players from local and international leagues into a specific team to bring a positive match result for the country team is not always an easy task for a coach to deliver. Even a team with quality players occasionally falls short of expectations. Instead of giving up for a country to win, let the best-organized nation win the AFCON since, in the end, their poor performance leaves us unhappy.

Nigeria are pretty favorites for the AFCON especially with the number of stars in their team, and I believe they’ll be able to scale through the group stage of this competition. Against Equatorial Guinea, I think they’ll get a win and against Ivory Coast, i think they could manage a draw. And wait for the 3rd round of the group stages to know if they stay top or 2nd. The absence of Boniface is a pretty crazy setback but can be covered up immediately because the Super Eagles have a formidable squad that could challenge for the league.

The stars in this team needs all dedication, commitment and focus they can get to get this trophy back home and write their names on history book and it’s quite possible only if they’re serious, cause there are many tough teams in the tournament that would give them  tough time in the league.

With the number of stars? LOL, Is as if you did not watch the past AFCON competitions that Nigeria participated, Since I started watching the AFCON competitions, one of the major problems I have discovered that Nigeria's team usually face in the AFCON lately, is the problem of Coach, Nigeria is indeed blessed with talented players who play both at home and in the European leagues but when its comes to playing in the father land competition AFCON, most of these players flop as a result of poor management. We might have the team to do the job, but not have the right coach to help us lift the trophy.

Quote
Nigeria have suffered a major injury blow ahead of their 2023 Africa Cup of Nations opener against Equatorial Guinea with key midfielder Wilfred Ndidi ruled out of the tournament in Ivory Coast. https://www.allnigeriasoccer.com/read_news.php?nid=49984
Is this really a major blow? I don't know the super eagles line up well but with the little that I know, we aren't doing well and it will take a while so this news of the super way suffering a blow because Ndidi will not be featured in the game doesn't move me at all because the results will not be different.

Hell Yeah! Having Wilfred Ndidii out of the tournament is a huge blow, because if you follow up with the Premier League Competition he was a vital player that year for Leicester City who dominated in the Premier League.

He has to be the best defensive midfielder at a certain season but lost form due to Injury and stuff. Nigerian National Team has good attacking players maybe fee defenders I know ( Calvin Bassey, Ola Aina and Trust Ekong ) these are names I know and I'm sure of what they can do for the squad.
All Nigeria lacks right now has to be good midfielder's, Iwobi and Aribo are not the midfielder's to win us big games, I'll see what the coach got cooking for us.

How will they give their best when they are not well taken care of? Most of these players are abandoned immediately after they are injured and they will be left to take care of themselves without any support from the Football Federation. In some cases, they are not paid their bonuses and allowances after they have represented the nation wholeheartedly.

Regarding the technical team of Nigeria, it has always been politicized and marred with allegations of bribery and corruption. Most of these coaches got the job after they struck a bribery deal with some top football official and not because they are qualified. Most of the foreign coaches that have been employed to manage the Super Eagles are not world-class and have little or nothing to offer. It would have been better for Nigeria to focus on using indigenous coaches because the country also has some quality tacticians.

Am very much interested in the performance of Victor Osimhen in the AFCON. His performance may help his chances of moving to his dream club, before his contract expires with Napoli and that he deserves the African player award given to him.
Although the super Eagles are among the favorites to be champions, they lost in a friendly match some days back. I know it's supposed to be a warm up match, but, the unseriousness of the team most times follow them into the first match fixtures of their group.
Am hoping this time it's different and they make it through to the finals with possiblity of winning the cup.
