Corruption is not only an African thing so we have to stop giving excuses. If our football was entraining, the government won't have any excuses to help out the sport.
Corruption is not the only thing, but it is the major thing. It is not just the government who are corrupt or can be corrupt, the governing body of the sport in some African countries have some corrupt officials who do not care about  making the sporting environment in the country attractive enough to attract government interest to invest more.

Let me take the entertainment industry as an example, you can see ours are better than some other part of the world and that's because those in charge are delivering when it comes to quality production so they draw in fans and more revenue gets generated which is then use to make the sector up to standards.
The entertainment industry is more of an individual effort and effort of your own team which is you, your producers, manager, marketers and promoters etc. If there was a governing body controlling all entertainers and the content they can put out, it will not be as successful as it is today.

So I ask: where is soccer in Africa evolving?

with so much corruption in soccer in africa, evolution is impossible, in soccer fields in africa only a few big teams can see the fields with many people watching, and the reason is simple: few people have the financial power to buy tickets and go watching the games, it is a sad scenario, corrupt managers do not watch the games, probably they should not even be a fan of any team, in Africa there are still problems of a country not being able to pay the player's salary when he represents the national team, things that they just embarrass africa
Not only do few individuals have the financial power to buy a ticket for a game, but many African nationals are less inclined to watch African games in the first place. It always seems as though we lack the enthusiasm to accomplish that due to our poor stadium management, the potential conflict that could result from opposing fans attacking one another, the absence of an effective game plan, and the officials' poor officiating.

When it comes to receiving good pay as an African player, our leaders perform poorly. They don't want to sponsor or pay the players properly because they don't think that football will bring them riches or add anything to their state's or nation's economy. Because of this, they are never as concerned about the welfare of all the players. Because of this, the players wouldn't play or give their all for the team they are playing for.

Corruption is not only an African thing so we have to stop giving excuses.

well, i'll have to explain better why soccer in africa is so different from other places and why corruption is the culprit, in my country which is also an african country some years there were 20 teams in the main league, there was a B league in that the 3 winners went up to the first league, this is something that has in europe and america and in other countries of africa. but the problem is that all teams in my country have government companies as sponsors, they are public companies managed by the party that is governing my country, so the leaders of the teams are people from the party that is also governing my country country

with this system in place, there is no room for the teams to have someone intelligent and not corrupt to direct the team, the league itself is manipulated in such a way that it makes them decide which team will be champion to please the electorate of a given region of my country and also the salaries of the players become low and they become hostages of the politicians, they cannot make serious claims because they will not play in any other team

so you can ask me: why when they play they just keep kicking the ball up and the ball is hardly rolling down like in European games and in other continents?
the explanation is very simple:

1 - they are the same limited coaches who have been teaching players from the lowest to the highest levels, even with various formations of these coaches by fifa they do not change and the system keeps them in the positions of coaches, they just leave a team and they go to another one, but the system does not want new coaches and when the foreign coach appears, he is sabotaged until he leaves

2 - the stadiums in africa where these players start playing from the lowest level are stadiums where the wall height is low allowing the wind to enter the field and change the trajectory of the ball but unfortunately the players get used to that style of playing and pick up the ball and kick it across the field and they don't realize that it's a disaster and with that, people won't watch the games because these games don't have quality. but everything is the fault of the corruption that starts from the top of the government to the lowest leader

You guys talk about all these problems that are almost an exact template for the problems of football in Southeast Asia.

Regular people affording tickets? It's not as bad as Europe in terms of price, but in terms of percentage of minimum wage, a normal person has to give up 2% of his salary per game for the shittiest ticket.

Corrupt owners and states who mismanage? Check. Absent managers who are political appointments? Check. Salaries unpaid? Check.

But I highly doubt it's just a problem of salary -- I agree it needs to be fixed across all sports, because it is not seen as a viable career in Southeast Asia where pay is not certain, and pension is non-existent. We have gold medallists and Olympians fall into obscurity as soon as they are too old to compete.

Our peak was in the 70s to 90s, when we were playing amateurs and semi-professionals. Today it's professional football with higher salaries, but that didn't help the game or our overall rankings. It made stadiums nicer. It made jerseys nicer. Sponsorships glitzier. Loads of Balkan, South American, and African imports to make it look as if we're international. But football quality? F* me but I can't stand watching a game anymore. At least in the 1990s there were bucketfuls of spirit from the players.

but the problem is that all teams in my country have government companies as sponsors, they are public companies managed by the party that is governing my country, so the leaders of the teams are people from the party that is also governing my country country

Allow me to introduce you to Serie A then. Berlusconi just passed away and he is the symbol of how Italian football was for a long time deeply tied to political parties and Italian leadership. No need to wonder about corruption in Italy and football -- Juventus stripped of titles before, and now more recently again. After the PM's adventure with Milan, he bought Monza and took it up also.

So we can blame corruption, but we can also blame a general lack of interest in football development. You can have corrupt leaders who see football clubs as a passion project and make them successful. Of course, today, the scene is different as big teams are already owned now by China and USA (thinking of Inter and Milan anyway) but I believe you see the same in Russian league, proving that you can still have good footballing clubs even with corrupt leaders meddling in club ownership.

I still think it's down to structure, and will. Is football a big enough priority? In many African and Southeast Asian countries, unfortunately, it is not.

Mozambique is leading with a goal which was scored in the first half. Rwanda is playing brilliantly but they are finding it difficult to break the deadlock in Mozambique goal post. One thing with the Mozambique players is their play style, if they are with the ball they easily confuse Rwanda's players.

Rwanda is having many opportunities to score but they don't have a good ball finisher. They are pressuring Mozambique to equalise the goal but I don't think that it will be pissible because Mozambique has a good defense. As for me the match is boring. It is will a poor result for Rwanda if they lose at home

Good play from the Madagascar players as the could manage to hold down Ghana from scoring any goal in the first half. Ghana been a strong country in Africa tried their best to net their opponent's post but it was not possible and Ghana lost many opportunities. Madagascar surprised me as they played very well and also had so many opportunities to in the game. I hope that the second half will be more interesting than the first half and both side or one side would net the post. The score is still goalless.

Neither team scored in the first half so there was an expectation that there would definitely be goals in the second half. But the two teams had to return with zero goals in the whole match. However, in Group E, Ghana was a very strong team and they had a chance to win but it didn't happen. However, despite being a weak team, Madagascar has performed very well. In Group E, Ghana get 2 win and 3 draw out of 5 for their total of 9 points but Madagascar didn't win. They have collected 2 points by drawing two matches.

Napoli super striker has proven to his country that he is a goal machine,as he scored two superb goals in the first half on the19th and 32nd minutes back to back to put his country on the winning side. Osinmeh has scored 17 goals in 25 appearance for Nigeria. Moses Samuel is playing very well in this game and the Nigerians are struggling to score more goals and gaining possession of the game all through the first half. Sierra Leone scored one goal to cancel out Osinmeh first goal on the 41st minutes. It was a great performance for Nigeria in the first half but they missed so many opportunities. I just hope that Nigeria can score more goals in the second half and let them not allow Sierra Leone to equalize the goal. I am so happy with Nigeria performance as a Nigerian

So many people have lost hope on our Super Eagles, even myself but that doesn't stop us from celebrating the players who have done well this season across Europe.
They {Super Eagles} are back to hit on the Sierra Leone national team and I expect the Super Eagles to do better than their last game. With the Eagles leading 1-2 at half time I pray they come out with full force and get more goals to make our opponents lose focus because I don't see why the Super Eagles who are 40th place in the FIFA WORLD ranking be robbing shoulders with Sierra Leone who are 117th position. More goals should be coming in for the Eagles as soon as they kick off the second half.

Don't be so happy yet because the second half can come with a surprise that you never imagine. It's 35 minutes(80mins.) into the second half, and Sierra Leone's performance has improved much better than the first half, Nigeria dominated them.
The match can end in favor of Nigeria or a draw for both sides. Whichever result it is, Nigeria qualifies but let it not end in a loss for Nigeria because it will be disgraceful that a country you are leading with 2 goals ahead, equalizes and later win you at the end of the match

With 12 points, Nigeria is now in first place in Group A, followed by Guinea Bissau with 10 points.

My observations during the game are as follows: the playing field is too small, and the field grass is synthetic(it withholds and doesn't allow the ball to roll properly).

Nigeria players couldn't defend one goal in 45mins. I will blame the coach for this because he made a wrong change which affected the game. Sierra Leone are taking advantage of the substitute made by Nigeria to equalise the game and the almost even win the match because after equalising the goal they were still pressuring to score another goal to win the match.

Nigeria made six substitute which wasn't necessary. Sierra Leone equalised two goals. What a good finish from Ihenacho to give their winning goal which he scores on the 95mins to end the match. What a magnificent victory from the super eagles this evening. Nigeria now tops their group with 12 points

Nigeria made six substitute which wasn't necessary.
Substitution is necessary when necessary, and a professional manager decides it. If Nigeria made six substitutions and lost, then you can call the substitution unnecessary. If the National team manager did not make substitutions and the lost the game, he would have be blamed for not making any substitution. Nigeria won the game and that is the bottom line.

Congratulations to the super eagles, they have already qualified for the AFCON even though there is a game to play.

I still think it's down to structure, and will. Is football a big enough priority? In many African and Southeast Asian countries, unfortunately, it is not.

Corruption exists in most countries, when I spoke that in Africa the problem is corruption I spoke of the corruption in Africa in which the members of the political party that govern the country use teams and soccer to win elections for positions of president of the country and other positions, they clearly have no interest in the teams winning anything, that's why I even made the effort to say that they set up the entire organizational machine so that nobody changes anything. they put government companies to sponsor the league and teams. I'll give you a great example:

team X from province X has a game tomorrow against team Z which is in province Z which is very far away, so they need to arrive by plane, and the sponsor of both teams is precisely the only government airline, the hotels have owners, which they are also the members of the government, so they create all sorts of unpleasant conditions for one of the teams to arrive exactly close to the time of the game to lose against another team, the referees also turn a blind eye to everything that happens on the field, the floor of the field is also not good, there are many bad conditions that make the games in low quality.

while Europeans, even though they are corrupt, love something and steal to use something else that produces something good (although stealing is a crime), the corrupt African is mentally ill, all he thinks about is destroying.

RWA 0-1 MOZ

luckily my country won that game, we managed to score 2 goals, but the Rwandans played better, but had a bad attack, while my country had less than 8 chances to come close to causing danger to the Rwandans and still scored 2 goals and we won

 Shocked Shocked

Ghana and Nigeria are in decline

The Government are not doing more to make the various league to be competitive, corruption and favoritism wont let the leagues to grow. They hire coaches and call players based on connection and not on merit, and that's the corruption we are talking about here, other nations are corrupt too but they limit it when it comes to national interest, but in Africa we play with everything. that's why the football is not developing to full potential.

Sierra Leone 2 - 3 Nigeria is quite disappointing, especially when you see that the last goal was scored by super eagles in the end of the game.. They returned to the first place but there is serious questions about how far they could go later.
Apart from Egypt, Algeria, Mali and Senegal groups, the others ranking can switch easily at any time. The level of African teams tend to be close to each others, with big classic clubs falling and the others rising a bit.

Talking about losing hope in super eagles I should be the first name you should mention because I lost hope a long time ago from the consistent loses and unseriousness shown in past world cup games, AFCON games and even qualifiers. The super eagles team don’t impress me any more and until I see some real changes I am staying away from their games, I will rather check the scores on the net.

Some of the results that happened in this weekend qualifiers match was not expected by me.
Gambia 3 : 0 Ivory Coast
I was wondering when the Ivory Coast of Didia Drogba that used to be the night mare of Nigeria become so weak.
Ghana could not win also and same thing has nearly happened to Nigeria if not for the miracle last minute goal.

It was a big miracle bro, I have even given up on the game after Serra Leone equalised the goal and I was mad at the coach for making changes when the boys were already winning the game.

But to my surprise I saw that Ihenacho managed to score at the last minute of the game. This was when I was happy and wasn't mad anymore at the coach for making 6 substitutes. I hope they will be able to win their next match in September.

It was a shock to see that Ivory Coast was defeated with much goals. Ghana couldn't score any goal,I guess that this forthcoming Nations Cup will be full of surprises.

I wouldn't criticize the Nigerian team for its inability to stop Sierra Leone's goals because of the coach's unneeded substitution. As I mentioned in my match-related observations,
Quote
My observations during the game are as follows: the playing field is too small, and the field grass is synthetic(it withholds and doesn't allow the ball to roll properly).
the stadium's poor condition is what has me scared and concerned. How are the AFCON organizers bringing professional players into a stadium where the grass is synthetic? That is horrible.

Congratulations to the super eagles, they have already qualified for the AFCON even though there is a game to play.
About four times have Nigeria and Sierra Leone squared off, with Nigeria winning twice and drawing twice. Prior to yesterday's AFCON qualification game, they last faced off in Nigeria's stadium in June of last year, with Nigeria coming out on top 2-1.

Nigeria's upcoming game is against Sao Tome and Principe. That will be their last match to play for the qualification for the AFCON. The event will take place on September 4. Whether a win or draw, Nigeria still qualifies for the AFCON

Watching African games this days is as boring as you can imagine because of the low picture and viewing quality, bad pitches and poor facilities. Africans are not investing in the game to raise our standards to try and meet up with the global world, we are still far behind. Something needs to be done, we have to start investing heavily in the sport, if our competitions become interesting people will be happy to buy tickets to watch a game.
