I hope you give them a thumbs up openly (especially on this thread) because they just scored more than 5 goals (6 precisely) and they also played very well and not just scoring, they dominated the whole match and at some point it began to look like the boys were just training. I never had a doubt of the boys disgracing São Tomé and Príncipe because I never knew we had an African nation with such name and didn't know they usually play Africa qualifiers. Don't doubt the Super eagles in qualifiers because we always dominate that tournament but chicken out when it comes to the main thing. Although this wasn't a worthy team but I love the fact that the boys dominated in this game so it can send a strong signal to whoever we'll be playing next when the tournaments starts for real that this time around we mean business.

I can't help but laugh over this game yesterday, well 👍 they deserve it but we shouldn't forget that we played a team that ate 10-0 in their last encounter against the Super Eagles.
After I saw the Eagles running them (Sao Tome) street I just know that it won't end well. The visitors don't even have anything to lose, they're out so why shouldn't we eat them up? With this performance I expect the Eagles to do the same when it matters, because I won't forget what happened in the game between the Black Stars vs the Eagles...
We shouldn't be too happy with that scoreline because they might mess up any time soon.
And kudos to V. Osimhen...

The performance of the super eagle shows that there is hope for them winning the AFNC coming up next year.

How I wish the Super Eagle would win the AFCN, which will be held in Ivory Coast on January 13 of next year.
It has been a long year since the Nigerian team lifted the AFCN trophy. The last time they did that was in the year 2013 in South Africa, making it their third time being the champions of AFCON.
Super Eagles teams are in their best form and have quality players who can beat every other African team that will stand in their way. But the fact is, they shouldn't allow their performance to slip before then because the Super Eagles do encounter this(wrong formation and injuries) in each of their scheduled AFCON fixtures.

This their performance was good, but because Sao Tome is not a really strong country in football, I will not see the Super Eagles as without need to improve from this.

We have the team that can get the job done, but I still do not yet believe in the coach. I do not trust his ability to manage these players very well. I will like for him to proof me wrong.

We have the best strikers one of whom was nominated for the 2023 Ballon d'Or, we have great midfielders, a good defense and goalkeeper, the coach has to match up tp their standards and bring the AFCON title home next year.

It is 10 years now and i believe that next year will be an opportunity to lift up the trophy again because we have a strong team this time and winning the trophy shouldn't be a problem,if the right players are selected for the competition.

I agree with you that Nigeria team hasn't been able to get a good coach for so long that has being a big challenge to the players. Let's hope that this coach does his job well and bring home the trophy so that we can taste the joy of victory again. I know that the players are capable of doing the job.

For the first time in African football history, a country has produced male and female Balon D'or nominees in the same year and that I think is a big achievement for Nigeria and also a very commendable feat that's been achieved by the most populous black nation.
Victor Osimhen and Asisat Oshoala deserves their nominations after an impressive season with their respective European clubs. That been said, I don't think any of them stands a chance to win the prestigious prize when it'll be announced on 30 October at the Theatre du Chatelet in Paris.
Victor Osimhen needs no introduction when it comes to football, as his among the best strikers of his generation and has been a top performer for some time & not limited to a season of football and deserves the Balon D'or nomination.

As for Asisat Oshoala, well let me first say I come in peace  Grin For her, I think it's the politics of football at play, as she has gone against some of their beliefs and this is meant to keep people talking and breaking the ice of some of the norms to be eased on women...and btw am not saying she's not a good footballer.. just thought the worldcup isn't enough to win her this  Balon D'or but the nomination itself is a winner.

Although I know that Victor Osimhen might not make it to the final top five in the list he deserves this nomination. He was one of the best players in the Italian Seria A and was behind the success of his club Napoli. It was painful Nigeria didn't qualify for the last World Cup in Qatar because it would have been a platform for the Nigerian striker to gain more support in his quest to become the world's best footballer. His recent performance in the qualifiers where he just scored his first hat trick for Nigeria should also be put into consideration in rating him and he has already started scoring more goals this season in Napoli.

Asisat Oshoala was wonderful in her club Barcelona where she scored 21 goals in 28 games.  But his performance in the World Cup was not encouraging. The Super Falcons had so much confidence in her but she ended up scoring just one goal and lost so many opportunities. I am also pleased about her nomination but I predict that she will not also make it to the top five. Nevertheless, this is an uncommon accomplishment by Nigeria. But it is not also a surprise because the country is a goldmine of quality footballers.

For me, there is nothing to celebrate here. The Nigerian Super Eagles obvously were the better side. I do not rate the match above 2 on a scale of 10 not that it matters though. There was no challenge just a stronger side playing a weaker opponent . Totally unbalanced game.

I would take a draw or a 2-1 win from the Nigerian Super Eagles against a team like Ghana or Egypt as a good challenge than what we saw in the just concluded game. We didn't go into the game expecting the visiting team to win. The fun of the game was seeing our stars, Osimhen and the rest of the other play live in the motherland.

I'm pleased with the Super Eagles performance against Sao Tome but I hope the team won't be carried away by the victory because they are still far from their best. They possessed and controlled most of the ball because the visitor posed little or no threat. If we had been paired against Ghana, Egypt or Cameroon, I'm certain we wouldn't have gotten this scoreline but in all it's a good win, so let's savour it, keep our head down and keep improving.

I'm also glad to see Osimhen bagging his second international hat trick for Nigeria and making the Ballon D'or shortlist, the dude is just unstoppable.

A solid performance from the talisman striker Victor Osimhen who equal Rashid Yekini record of scoring 2 hatricks for the Super Eagles; and also one of the fastest to reach 20 goals for the super eagles team, with 20 goals in 26! Napoli owner will be very proud (remember he mentioned that 250M is too cheap for Victor Osimhen).

Victor Osimhen deserved to win the award because he has down so much for club football and also for his national team. For Nigeria to win the AFCON tournament would be very difficult irrespective of how well the boys have been playing but we haven't faced the real deal yet because we have to play teams like senagal, Egypt in the main competition to lift the trophy and we have a bad record against those clubs. Victor Osimhen will pass Rashid Yekini soon, he's the highest goal scorer for the nation but from the rate at which Victor Osimhen is netting in goals, it'll be a surprising if he doesn't become the highest goal scorer. Victor Osimhen needs to move to a better league for his talent to be fully utilized because I believe he's bigger than the current league he's playing in.

She didn't win the world cup so her chances of winnings the Ballon D'or is deduced. Expect for few years, mainly when it's the world cup year, players that impressed the most doing the world cup tournament while also having a decent club career for that year always win and although she gave in her best but her best wasn't enough. The super falcons didn't even go that far in the tournament, I was disappointed as I was expecting more from them especially as this time was like the last time this group of women can play together as alot of them will be retiring from international football very soon. Asisat Oshoala been nominated is a win for her already, she just have to wish her name stays longer on the list but she can't win and that we all know.

How I wish the Super Eagle would win the AFCN, which will be held in Ivory Coast on January 13 of next year.

The African Cup of Nations won’t be an easy one, but from the matches played by the super eagles and the current squad that the super eagles are having currently, I have confidence that the super eagles will end up winning the Africa Cup of Nations next year. The super eagles are having quality players, and from their performances, we can all see that they are really ready to play for their country. I don’t think any club will be able to hold the super eagles down in the next African Cup of Nations. I haven’t seen any African country that’s having the kind of squad that the super eagles are having currently, and am sure they will also want to win the cup for their country.

How I wish the Super Eagle would win the AFCN, which will be held in Ivory Coast on January 13 of next year.

Yes indeed, super eagles are really trying at the moment, winning their games with lots of goals, and if you look at the kind of players that are in this Nigeria side, you will see that they are good players who are doing very well at their respective clubs, and coming together to play for their country will really put a winning mentality in them, and I think they will go far in this tournament.I imagine this good Nigerian side with Saka of England who is a Nigerian born,I think the squad would have really been a wonderful one full of talent, because Osimhen is at the peak of his career, and so as Saka, and the combination of the both upfront would terrify any team they play against.

Osimhen...

Yes São Tomé was an easy opponent for us. Looking at the scoreline and the team’s performance yesterday I think there are improvements in the team, the Super Eagles looked more composed, organized and reflected good team work throughout the game. It has been a very long time since the Super Eagles displayed a spectacular performance in any tournament. This year the squad is looking upgraded, and much better. I believe this could be our chance to redeem ourselves and test glory again.

In as far as the match was against a very weaker team like Sao tome, I was not too impress with the scoreline. I expected more considering the super eagle current squad and the quality in them. Although, it's undoubtedly that the Nigerian super eagle has really improved in the recent games but it is important to notice how the couch is using the players to play wrong position when he has players that fit into each position. Playing Awoniyi as a winger is a wrong formation from the couch.

Having a top class players is one thing and knowing how to use them is another. Either with strong or weak team, players should be use to play where they are best fit in in order to be conversant with their respective wings. I know some players are versatile and some can be converted from one position to another by couch but that should be done through training. Some error formation can cause you the game and it's very painful. Congratulations by the way as super eagle sealed a spot in the AFCON tournament.

They played very well with good team spirit but I can't still bank on the Super Eagles at the moment until they continue with that fantastic form I mean against a much more competitive team.
We shouldn't give the Eagles too much praise because the team they played are not even close to their ranking not in the world but in Africa ranking, São Toméare has never been a match for the Super Eagles but if you're talking about Algeria or let me say Ghana, ok that would have been awesome if we beat them with that scoreline or something close to that scoreline but as for now I'd say the Eagles should keep up with that form.

With the official list of referees to officiate the AFCON 2024 Tournament out, no Nigerian ref was included and I'm beginning to wonder why. The last time a Nigerian ref officiated in AFCON was 13 years ago. Ever since then, there has been no Nigerian ref being called up, not even a linesman. Is it that our refs are lacking what it takes or are we that bad? Or is that we don't have refs with good reputation or what? What do we have to do to change the status quo?
In England where there are controversial calls, they are still invited to ref Europa games, why then is Nigeria's own different?
Here's the list of refs chosen.

Not having a single Nigeria referee in the upcoming AFCON is something to raise eyebrows. It is somehow for other African countries to provide a referee, whereas the giant of Africa we claim to be, has no single officiating referee to officiate any of the AFCON matches. I find this as an insult.

This is odd, even some people can see it as nothing, that it doesn't matter. The NFF(Nigeria Football Federation) had to question CAF as to why it does seem like, there's no inclusion of Nigeria referees in any of the AFCON matches. Reasons have to be given for this because it is like an insult that we have no qualified referee in our local league to be among the selected referees that will officiate the Upcoming AFCON matches that will be held in Ivory Coast

               Cameroon vs Burundi

I am watching the match between Cameron and Burundi. It is still goalless and they are on the extra time of the first half. I was expecting much from Cameroon but is like they aren't that better than Burundi. This is because Burundi created more opportunities of scoring but they couldn't break the deadlock. Kudos to Manchester United goal keeper Onana who didn't allow any ball to pass through to the net.

Cameroon should be happy that the had a goalkeeper like Onana, if not Burundi would have be at the lead of the game. Burundi have good players and they are desperate of scoring. Maybe in the second half,we will see a goal from any of these countries.
Cameroon 0-0 Burundi.

This is as a result if our corrupt practices, they say charity begins at home and most of our home based referees have had some negative pr and it also seems they are easily compromised. Aside from these, I don’t think there are any other reasons why our indigenous referees would be left out entirely for the AFCON games. It’s a question of the integrity of our referees than qualification.

What left is Morocco vs Liberia match and I don't know if it was rescheduled yet or not.

Burundi was swept of their feet in the second half by the Cameroonians and they performed poorly in the second half. Cameroon players played very well in the second half and they took advantage of the chances that they has to score their goals.

The last goal wqa scores at the injury time of the second half with a super finish by the Cameroon striker. Burundi couldn't continue with the performance that they put in the first half that made them almost scored. I wouldn't blame them though because Cameroon has a good goalkeeper.
