The Ivorian team is dominating a bit in this first half, and Victor Osimhen just missed an ample opportunity one-on-one chance with the keeper during the early minutes of the game. There has been a series of inaccurate passes from the super Eagle side, from my observation so far in the game, All the super eagle frontline players are on laxity Chukwueze, and Osimhen as the member 9 man needs to be more smart in his finishing with the ball.

Both teams had a scoring opportunity but could not capitalize.
On paper, Ivory Coast is the better team and has better quality football players.
When African Football is mentioned (in the past, Cameroon came first)
Ivory Coast and Morocco are coming.
They had a very good start after Drogba.
Nigeria used to be a very good team, especially in the 1994 World Cup held in America.
Coming to the match, I believe that the match will end in a draw.
Only 45 minutes left for this.

The first half of the game between Ivory Coast and Nigeria is over and I can categorically say that I'm more impressed with the performance of the Nigeria Super Eagles in this game than how they played in their first game of the tournament against Equatorial Guinea. The host nation are also playing well and is currently better in terms of possession but I'm optimistic that the Super Eagles are gonna win this particular game.

There has been a little improvement in the performance of the super eagles compared to their last game no doubt but am still not satisfied with them not having a good passing accuracy and good game communication among themselves that's really bad. Ww need to make good use of the chances we have to score a goal in this game a lot of chances has been wasted  and we can't win the game if we can't utilize our opportunities. Going to the second half I hope to see my country Nigeria win and take all 3 points and we will win hopefully.

Nigeria is really a collection of big names but no team work. Even though the in the game of football, anything is possible, I think it will be funny for anyone to have high hopes in Nigeria winning the host tomorrow. This is just a simple matter of being realistic.

It’s popular opinion that the Super Eagles manager, José Peseiro is unable to make the best of this team. Ivory Coast is not a star studded team, they no longer have big names like Didier Drogba, Yaya Touré and Kolo Touré. Still it is not going to be easy for the super Eagles. My mind is telling me Nigeria will lose but my heart is telling me we will win.

Now, in a situation like this, should we believe your mind or your heart? 
I watched the Zambia verses Congo Dr game yesterday, and though the game ended in a 1:1 draw, Congo Dr played a very good game even though Zambia had the most ball possession, Congo Dr were always in the goal post of zambia and did miss a couple of opportunities they would have converted to a goal.

After watching that match yesterday, I hope for Nigeria winning their game against ivory coast today was raised high, though I am not betting a dime on this game, but I am crossing my fingers for the super eagles and hoping they make us proud this time.

Good around the penalty box shouldn't have just scored a single goal, they should ha e doubled that goal up, that's what we mean by good at goal. Anyways props to em as they gotta point out if the game.
Y'all still have hopes about Nigeria? Funny how the  Nigerian Football Federation goes about dictating what the coach should do and not do in this game. Don't forget too many cooks spoil the soup.

We just have few food players who play as a team in that squad,the rest are complete gamblers. What's a player like Iwobi doing on the pitch for 90minutes if not straight up bribe to the NFF. I can't see them games unless they improve.

I even wanted to complain about the performance of iwobi in that team, is as if he's not understanding the teams game plan, towards the end of the first half you could see how the ivory coast team were putting pressure on the Nigerian team, Ivorians have been coordinated with their their passes and style of play, I feel they might see the back of the net in the second half, because Nigeria has succeeded in holding them down on a goaless draw this first half.
Talking about the Nigerian football federation(NFF), it is one organization that has helped in bringing down the football glory we once enjoyed as Nigerians, from hiring substandard coaches and bringing in players that don't have zeal to play in the national team.

Some of the players that are playing in this tournament have never played with each other before now. The Nigerian fans are hoping that they at least qualify for the next round because at that stage the players would have gotten some level of understanding of each other. But for them to make it to the next round, they must ensure they at least get a draw today.

The super eagles squad is just a shadow of ridicule. I have lost total confidence in them. I do not know if I am to blame the players or the coach or the NFF, but it seems that all of them are contributing to the poor performance of the country. The players are not patrotic enough, just like Sadiq who dropped because of injury has been named in the Real Sociedad squad. The coach is not very confident of his decisions and the masses are seeing him as inexperienced. While NFF is known for her chronic corruption.

I wonder how Nigeria will face the host today and survive when the Ivorians are already seated comfortably with 3 points.

I have just been seeing comments about the first half of the game and with how they don't have a coach in this tournament, lmao. Three gbusa for Ekong as he has scored a beautiful goal with a pelnaty kick to put Nigeria on the lead. Osimhen was the player that won the penalty, as he was hit by ivory coast defender, when he was about to control the ball inside the 18 yard box.

 Ekong broke the deadlock on the 57th minutes of the game in the second half. I just hope that Nigeria will use this opportunity to take advantage of winning the match since they are on the lead.

So far this competition hasn't really impressed me because we have seen way too many draws just like the last edition did and it takes the fun out of the game, but for some reason as we get to the end of the first round of games we have seen more goals coming in which is a good start...

And from the teams that have played so far, I think a few have impressed,Mali was a slow starter but came out guns blazing to win comfortable, and for other teams like Morroco haven't really have had a real test but remain among the favourites, then Ivory Coast being hosts will be expected to go the extra mile, Congo DR is a team I have never thought of to be a good team but they have a solid game and should go far, but if asked who can win this tournament I think  Mali stands a good chance!

Unlike those days when Nigeria use to have matches like this, the give national light on throughout that day to make everyone entertain and happy but they don't do that anymore or perhaps because the power holding company of Nigeria is now privatise but on a second thought, the privatization should have improve it because we are paying for the light, it should be available.

I think the Nigerian team are not doing well with this game despite now that the are leading with a goal, Nigeria team lack a play maker, the 5 and 11 are just useless and not doing what they are meant to do and there is no any form of connectivity between them. If not for that Penalty, we might not even go far in this game and what I fear most is what they are going to do after this group, that is if they even keep this match without conceding any goal from Ivory Coast.

I'm watching the Ivory Coast game now. The game was equally strong, but Osimhen always endangered the Ivory Coast defense every time he had the opportunity to dribble the ball.
In a 0-1 lead, Nigeria played a little defensively by choosing to include Osimhen, the only player above.
Ivory Coast continues to try to equalize the score. Pepe was introduced to increase Ivory Coast's attacking power amidst Nigeria's efforts to maintain their lead.

The match was on a short break given by the referee and is now continuing.
If the final result does not change with Nigeria winning, then this group competition will be even more interesting because the number of points is very close between Guinea, Nigeria and Ivory Coast.

I am disappointed with Ivory Coast but I believe that gone are the times when Didier Drogba were leading them to beautiful things not only there in the African Cup but also in the World Cup,I guess they need a new Drogba in their squad.On the other side Nigeria has always had good players,really good players I would say but to win away from home is always a great achievement for any team.I think that Nigeria will be doing ok even after this game and that they will get a huge boost in confidence if they manage to win this game tonight when only 15 minutes are left to play and they are leading with that narrow lead.I think also that Ivory Coast will go all in to equalize and this can leave space to Nigeria to score again.

The good old days, how I miss those days honestly, Nigeria is such a country filled with irony, irony in the sense that, we say the future is bright, we all look forward to a better future, things are supposed to improve and become better in the future, but for Nigeria, it is not so, it is completely the other way round, instead of the future we hope and wait for, to be better, it comes and it worster than the yesterday we despised, many of us now pray to go back to where we came out from, rather than pray to move forward into the future.

Well, let's just hope for the best, I personally always consider 1 goal as a draw, atleast until the final whistle is blown, but let's hope that our super eagles will be able to defend this one goal to the end of the game, even if they did not find a chance to score another, they should not concede any goals either, it's only but few minutes to the end of the match.

To some extent Nigeria played well today though there was too much oppression from the opponent but upon all that Nigeria tried their best to score one goal in the second half. Ivory Coast is one of the tight team in this tournament so for Nigeria to win them there means they might go far but we should not put Nigeria in our mind because Nigeria can disappoint fans at the die minutes. But we thank God today thAt finally Nigeria won Ivory Coast with 1-0.

Ivory Coast goal keeper tried today if not Nigeria would shock them with goals today because the keeper saved almost 3 good shots. Individually Nigerian players do well and collectively they did better. But I will want to them to do better in the next match because the knockout stage will be stronger than like this. Frankly speaking I don't know any beat player in the Nigeria National Football Team like Musa, Kanu, JJ Okcha time. The team only have average players and not professional players.

Yeah Nigeria where lucky to be awarded penalty that enabled them to win the game against the host nation 1-0. The star defenders for me in the Nigerian team where, ola Aina, semi ajayi and  Calvin bassey, this guy's where exceptional in their deface prowess. I would say it was a lucky game for Nigeria, as the ivorians maintained their pressure till the last minute. Nigeria don't have  good frontliners that can create chances, I saw a few one-on-one chances they had on the mouth of the goal post and they couldn't convert it to any goal. Going by prediction it could have been very possible to say that Ivory Coast would win this game and they did played very well to show that they have a lot to offer unfortunately, it ended in favour of Nigeria.

At the moment it looks like Nigeria is going to walk away with the one goal record the currently hard with CIV whi is already at extra time and the player are doing everything possible to protect their 18 line from every possible penetrations.

I think if Nigeria is able to away with this match against the host nation in this round, this will be alot of motivation for the Nigeria team ahead of the whole round.

Ivory Coast goal keeper tried today if not Nigeria would shock them with goals today because the keeper saved almost 3 good shots. Individually Nigerian players do well and collectively they did better. But I will want to them to do better in the next match because the knockout stage will be stronger than like this. Frankly speaking I don't know any beat player in the Nigeria National Football Team like Musa, Kanu, JJ Okcha time. The team only have average players and not professional players.

As much as I am also happy for the super eagles for having their first win in the AFCON 2023 tournament, let's not forget that there win today was as a result of a penalty they played against ivory coast, I personally assume this match would have also ended in a draw (goalless draw) if not for the penalty the referee awarded the super eagles.

Overall, it was a good game even though the ivory coast team had the best stats in this match, they have the best ball possessions, shot on target, passes and so on, but I guess all this doesn't really matter, what matters is which team scored a goal or goals, which in this case is the super eagles through a penalty.

It  is very clear that our Nigerian players played better today, than they played on their first game against equatorial Guinea, let's hope they keep improving with every game they play, so that we will go far in this tournament.

I think if Nigeria is able to away with this match against the host nation in this round, this will be alot of motivation for the Nigeria team ahead of the whole round.

Nigerians will be pleased with the outcome today, having gained three points in this match. However, based on the match statistics, they were extremely fortunate to win today. The host nation dominated possession of the ball, shots on goal, and passes, while Nigeria relied solely on a penalty goal awarded to them in the second half of the game. Nigerians have a lot of star players in their squad, but they're not using them to their full potential. If they don't improve their performance and keep up this pace, I doubt they'll make it to the tournament's finals.

Congratulations to the Super Eagles, I was worried about this game. My heart proved to right after all. To be honest we were not the better team in the game, thank God we got a penalty and held on to our advantage. Even though I am relieved that we won, this victory is a lucky win and does not impress me at all. The Super Eagles need to improve their style of play because this performance will not take us very far in the competition.

There is nothing impressive about this match honestly. Nigeria is not supposed to win by one goal in this match. Many fans from all over the world expect Nigeria to have won by 2 or more goals. I am very confused till now why Nigeria would be so weak to the extend of winning the match by a small chance. I even see the goal as a luck because Nigeria is a big country with a great team, why would they have to win by slightest chances.

 The most annoying thing about this match is that many of the fans of Nigeria are in great loses. Most of us bet on this match with over 1.5 thinking the match is going to end with more than 2 goals. Nigeria team had so many opportunities to win this match but still could not meet up with the ability to score. My money is gone...holy shit!
