It’s quite different comparing him to Casemiro. Casemiro was played for Real Madrid for almost all his life, winning titles most importantly 5 UCL with this experience he can settle into any team in the world. Not withstanding that they both play a different role.

Casemiro shoudn't be compared with Wilfried Zaha that's disrespectful if you ask me. Casemiro is one of the most decorated midfielders out there still playing at the top level in this stage of his career. Even though he doesn't do much in any clubs he goes he'll still be adore because his career will stand for him but same can't be said about Zaha. He'll need to prove himself anywhere he goes because he would never been seen as someone that has an awesome career and needs a break.

Wilfried needs to move. Agreed. Palace is no longer  dependent on him like they once did. And he needs to move quick because he is almost close to the point in his career where he is not a sought after as he once was. Although to me, he is still one hell of a player  and he is still one of the most valuable players at Palace. My suspicion is that he is going to be a free agent. He is still top talent and a super player so there will be a lot of clubs that would be player like him.

I can't really believe that Madagascar is winning Ghana in the African Nations Championship game. Ghana was having one the best team in Africa but in these days, Ghana dey play like Nigeria. K. Razafindranaivo scored the first goal and Randriantsiferana scored the second goal. That means the match has already favoured Madagascar. From looking at things, Ghana is even having more advantages than it opponent but their midfielders are issue they are facing

Yeah, the players been discussed in the transfers are African players no doubt but in a different or should I say foreign league which don't exactly talk about the football back at home (Africa) at the moment.

At the moment, there is an African Nations Championship (CAF) going on and there don't don't to be a thread for it. I could have created one but, with this thread not fully developed, I think it would be a better place to have this discussion going.

It's Madagascar Vs Ghana playing at the moment with Madagascar leading by 2 goals to 1 for Ghana. With about 18minutes of play for normal time, Ghana arent getting much chance to be of any real threat to Madagascar.

I joined this game late because of my engagement watching the El Classico. I have been looking out especially at the Ghanaian team to see if there is any player I will be able to recognize knowing that most of their players should be playing for their respective football clubs, there is none. I couldn't imagine how sloppy Randolph got on the ball to have not added much force in the ball given that the goalkeeper was far off, he had much time and option to shoot the ball out for a throw.
Anyway, its the first game and lose for the black stars of Ghana, let's see how they manage there other fixtures to stay in the game.

Although they fought hard trying to recover, mostly toward the end but failed to convert the chances and also due to the brilliance of the Madagascar goalie. The defense and midfield positions need to sync better. They are too matured a team to be making that kind of silly mistake that happened today.
I watched Cameroon on the other hand as they displayed dominance with possession and discipline as a team. Nice one for them. Hope they go farther.

This side discussion doesn't mean other discussion can't be going on. This isn't the first thread for African discussion, we have done it before with Africa Football Discussion Thread || Current discussion: African teams at Qatar. but it was later locked due to spam and now this self moderated thread has been created to help moderate the spams.

If you noticed, the user just above your comment raised up this same discussion about the game between Ghana vs Madagascar. We're all welcome to discuss everything concerning African football on this thread since we mightn't have enough interested members to separate the discussion, all we just have to do is avoid not making sense with our discussion to prevent people thinking this is just another thread to fulfill our signature task.

Of course they did. In the 90+ minutes, they had several balls directed on target in split seconds but Madagascar's team were not prepared to give up there chance for a good head start and repelled the ball with each shot. There eay 2 mistakes gave them up and the Madagascar players were quick to make good use of it. First was a slip to the floor and the second was a very short back pass. The goal by Augustine Agyapong for Ghana was such a wonder piece of ingenuity. So unexpected by anyone on the pitch but, he timed the goalkeeper just right and as unexpected as it came, he sent the ball straight to the back of the net.
It was good for the referee to call off the wrongfully awarded penalty to Ghana, that would have changed the dynamics of the game for Madagascar.

Yesterday saw Cameroon  beat Congo by a single goal. Cameroon was really good at there ball tactics.  I mean, how could they not, they've got S. E'too on there board to better the Cameroonian side with his years of experience from playing both home and at Europe.
The cut backs and forward push left Congo in shambles. They couldn't read the moves just right and you find Cameroon creating just the Chance they need but we're able to convert just a single goal by Jerome Mbekeli. They could have had at least 3 goals though but, its a lofty 3 points for Cameroon from this game.

Quite some Interesting development in this transfer. We all know the Cameroonian strikers contract got terminated after Ronaldo move to his former club Al Nassr. Now he's replacing Weghorst who just left Besiktas for Manchester united which means this three clubs just swapped players with in themselves. Nevertheless, I'm very happy for Aboubakar who now has a club and a job to look after his family.

It was quite a shock but understandable the reason behind his previous departure from Al Nassr and I just wish him luck at his new club. We all know that Vincent Abubakar has gone passed his peak years but do you think he still has something to offer to the Besiktas side. They must have seen something he can offer before going after him or do you just think this was a panic buy that they'll be looking for a better alternative in the summer transfer window?.

From what I hear in the commentary and have been observing on the pitch, the absence of familiar players is largely due to the fact that, they've gone to be playing for therr various respective club side football leagues. Most of the players featuring in the competition are those that plays in individual nation's league.

More like a circle I would say. Given that, they aren't particularly having a direct swap but, that's just on the sides. The goodnews is, his got a good side as well as, Besiktas is surely a good team in the Turkish league and a Champions League competitive team as well.

Mean while, we've got Congo Vs Niger game going on in the CAF and as it is, the game is still barren. Although, the Congolese forward with the number 9 Jersey Bassinga came quite close with a goal but, it was ruled out to be offside by few inches. Personally, I think that should have been given.

No it was a clear offside as the highlight shows that clearly. Although congo was very dominate in the game but I'm surprised they didn't win the game considering they have more upper hand since they were favorite to defeat Niger. At the end of the game both nations shared equal points. This drop in points means congo now seat third in group haven't lost three points to the Senegalese side earlier. The other game for yesterday also ended goalless draw as both Mauritania and Angola shared a point each.

Libya plays Ethiopia today what's your prediction for this match, both side haven't been in form as it seems they haven't been consistent in their play, so are we looking at another draw game today? I think as much as I see no way either of the nations could defeat the other. I still think we could see goals in the match so I'll go with a 1:1 prediction or probably Ethiopia winning since they have previously drew their last game while Libya lost.

The Moroccan team in the world cup is different from the Moroccan team in the CAF as they've got most of there players back to there respective club side leaues like, Hakim Ziyech playing in the Premier League and Hakimi in league one. You could as well say the same thing for Ghana and this have got to affect the performance of the squad being field with average and inexperienced players.

Madagascar rubbished Sudan today! The Sudanese team defence line was a thing of ridicule. The Madagascarn attackers were just finding there way through as though they weren't there. 3 easy goals in the first half and the goalkeeper was finding it very difficult to stay in his post. It's a surprise too that Ghana could defeat them. In the last 3 matches played across all competition, I think this is the first time, the ghanian side are victorious over the Moroccans and this was a disgraceful one, 3:0 without any consolation.

To be sincere, this forum section has made me keep up with African football. I was thinking how possible it was that a national tournament was ongoing without its major stars. As you explained, it is for the local players. I wonder if many of these players played in the just concluded world cup or is it just a different squad altogether?

Thanks for taking time to explain this because I personally wondered why an African competition was ongoing and some of big name players playing abroad never returned for it.

It can be expected that due to some major players not playing, we will see unexpected results.

The competition is a great opportunity for home based players to show that they deserve a place in the National team and to show case their talent to scouts from other Leagues.

I was really surprised with the results too and was about asking if they really featured or played with their main key players in that game for such results, because I didn't have that time to go watch those matches due to my tight schedules, but now I'm being clarified from your explanation.

I don't, the competition is just another means for them to milk players to get revenue for themselves. It isn't even getting enough promotion so people can watch the matches. I would advise they put all this resources into promoting the local league and their competition instead of overworking this players. We already have the local champions league which top clubs from all over Africa come together to compete so why do we need this competition again?.

Aren't this the same players that are competing in this same tournament. They should leave national teams to only compete with all their strength when it comes to national teams competition. I bet you nobody even knows what's going on in this tournament, the matches are boring to watch and I have resulted to only watching the highlights. We should focused attention on local league to bring them up to standard and not competition like this that makes no sense.
