Just because the super eagles have some quality strikes doing well in Europe doesn't mean they have the best squad in Africa. In my opinion to be qualified to be ranked the best squad you should have a balanced team where there are quality players in every or almost every position on the field.

I think Nigeria has one of the best decorated squad in Africa football right now if not the very best  in terms of individual player quality. What is lacking is that high team performance, they haven't been able to bring in that individuality to whole to at least create that dominance in the African football yet.

Above are the games for today, which match are you looking forward to and predictions. My interest is more on the Nigeria match and I won't be missing it for anything.

Two wins and a draw now I think that's quite impressive for the African giants. Though I missed the first half of today's game between Nigeria vs Libya but the second as I watch, Nigeria looked very untroubled as they kept playing Libya at half field giving so much pressure to the Libyans.

The goal came in at 87th minutes after much pressure with Simon giving the assist from that his fast dribble to let the ball to the Lazio forward Dele-Bashiru who was able to find a good positional play to find his place to the back of Libya's net.

With that ball going through to the back of the net, I could see the disappointment from the Libyans squad seeing how much little of a  time left to when that goal came in for Nigeria. Congratulations to Nigeria with this victory their place in the AFCON has been secured.

Do we have anything impressive to say about the performance of the Super Eagles in the first half? All they did was to give the visitors enough time to hang on the ball and if this Libya guys have any chance I believe they'll utilize it and that would be a problem for the Eagles. Is as if we can't control the ball down to the opposition 18 yard box and get a goal, I think the wingers need to do more as well as the left and right back, their crosses are not impressive enough and it makes the attacker look weak in the box. Hopefully the second half they can get something positive.

I know the general idea is to celebrate and be happy with these sort of wins but It wasn't encouraging to see us struggling at home to a team that shouldn't be much of a challenge to us on a good day. I know the general idea is to celebrate and be happy with these sort of wins but It wasn't encouraging to see us struggling at home to a team that shouldn't be much of a challenge to us on a good day.  still need the ref and linesman to explain to me how Ademola's goal was offside because he timed he runs and wasn't off when Chukwueze gave him the pass. Well, if they had played their game well and not throw away chances, we won't be depending on this to at least get something.

Lol that was a clear off-side. When Lookman scored the off-side goal, I told my brother that Nigerians are going to use this as a compensation and say the game was rigged if we lose this game. So I’m not at all surprised that you’re reacting this way, it’s just a Nigerian thing. The same way we have the habit of calculating the points of other teams when the Super Eagles are losing in group stages, it’s the same way we like to argue about referee decisions when it doesn’t favor us. Thank God Adele-Bashiru scored the winning goal. Libya were wasting time before we scored, I think they were hoping for a draw.

I missed the first half of the game, I just found out that the referee denied the Super Eagles a penalty. Also I watched Ademola Lookman’s goal in replay and you might be correct. It did not look like an off-side, I don’t know why the referee blew an offside. Officiating in the African competitions have been without controversy in recent years, but if we see a repeat of poor officiating decisions like we saw today, we may just need VAR in the AFCON.

Yeah about the idea is actually possible and the good thing about it is that other home players who are having the dream of playing for an international team will have the opportunity to come and make there performance noticeable for the international clubs because already as the competition is going on some other international club will be looking for some smaller players they can afford to buy, so given our young footballers the opportunity will also be a good one.

Though the problem is that politics has entered into the supper eagles because there are people who has there favorite players in the club and whether they play bad or not they would always be seeing matches, perhaps that's way we always see the same players all the time and they cannot give a little opportunity to some other players on the bench.

I agree with your thought 100 percent because looking at most Nigerian players, they are very visible in the respective leagues they plays for but when it comes to country games they all start forming big boys on the pitch of play, we have players like Victor Boniface that plays for the last Bundesliga winning club Bayern Leverkusen, Ademola lookman that plays for Atalanta that just won the last Europa league title, and Victor Osimhen a very notable player so far as football is concerned and some other players but yet they don't apply much efforts in country games as they do in their respective leagues it's just very bad. Just take a look at the match against Lybia today, they almost ended in a draw if not for that late minutes goal by Dele-Bashiru. Inasmuch as i'm concerned, Nigeria has one of the best group so far as the countries in same group with them are literally teams that Nigeria can perfectly win but yet they are playing as if they are meeting bigger countries.

The game was not that uninteresting because the Super Eagles dominated the match, but they had issues with creating chances and scoring. The home team would have scored more goals if not for the spectacular saves by Libya goalkeeper Murad Al Wuheeshi. This match reminds us of the match between Brazil and Chile, where the former got a winning goal almost at the same time the super-sub Fisayo Dele-Bashiru got the goal. The Nigerian should have done better against a relatively unknown Libyan side, but the three points are most important. Nigeria is not topping the group with seven points. The next game will be on Tuesday in Martyrs of Benina Stadium in Benghazi. The Knights will want revenge for this painful loss.

Dele-Bashiru have just scored a goal to give the Super Eagles the lead less than three minutes before the end of the normal time in the game between Nigeria vs Libya. Nigeria have been the better side but was been resisted by the Libyan defense from getting a goal. Few minutes before Dele-Bashiru scored, Atalanta attacker Ademola Lookman's goal was harshly ruled out as offside. I think the Super Eagles of Nigeria are going to get win this one even when their visitors are to find a late equalizer.

Nigeria is disappointing today again, even in national team ranking I cant even say where Libya is, they are not even known as a football playing country and Nigeria could barely even penetrate their defense with the number of quality players on the pitch. One thing I have noticed about this Nigeria team is that when Victor Osimehn is not around they always struggle to score, I would say if Victor Osimehn was around today they would have score more than 3 goals. Victor Boniface is a good player no doubt but I think his style of play is too soft for African football, maybe if Taiwo Awoniyi had started today i think things would have been more easy for Nigeria.

Well I wil still praise the Libya defense, the whole team play well, they kept their compact, worked hard, defend together and attack when they had the chance. I think deserve at least a point today but sometimes that how it is in football. I hope to see changes in the next super Eagles game.

I was unable to watch the match, but am not really impressed with the result of the match, I was thinking the super eagles will conveniently win the match, but all they could get in the match was just a goal, which was even towards the ending of the match. I heard Libya played a defensive game, which from the statistics that I checked, it’s obvious that they played defensive game, because they had just 2 goal attempts, and didn’t even have any shots on target, but the super eagles are having experienced players, so they should know how they will disorganize their defense.

But Congrat to the super eagles, they were able to get three points which is the most important thing, they are now at the first position on the table, but they should just try am improve their performance, they are not suppose to be finding it difficult to win all this counties.

I'm sorry but I don't see Nigeria as a great national team. Only if they can go far in the next World Cup would they convince me that they are a great national team. The biggest problem with us Africans is that we are content with little. We don't criticize our countries' national teams harshly for not winning the World Cup. We are content with small achievements and the politicians who run our African countries are happy because they see a people who do not complain and are content with little. In Africa we need to have national teams capable of winning the World Cup. If they don't win the World Cup then they are weak teams.

A big disappointment. We were playing at home against a weak team, we scored the first goal but conceded a goal and lost points. Honestly, it was a very disappointing result.

When watching matches between your country and another country, even your club and another, you be watchful and not be biased because you're supporting your country, their is some certain things we see like something that's not fair or good from the referees but from var it's good, do you know that before you officiate matches as a referee you most at list understand understand some basic things and you most be tested, so referees officiate matches base on what the observe from matches, so you don't need to conclude that offence required penalty why it wasn't,  so they didn't denied supper eagles any penalty

If we are to talk about dominance, Nigeria dominated every aspect of the game from the beginning till end. Super eagle were actually unlucky with the goals but the performance was impressive. I hope you noticed how Libya team was defending through out the game as if they came for the draw. No matter how good your team is, you can not easily penetrate into your opponent box when more than half of their squad are there defending. Moreover, super eagle doesn't have a reliable striker and it make things worse and difficult to convert chances. Victor Boniface is more of a supporting striker than playing the role of a striker. Wingers efforts wasted as there is no one to make good use of those crosses.

Have a look at the stats of the match and you can see how super eagle dominate every single aspect of the game.

If not, I am a patriotic citizen of Nigeria I would probably say, it is better you did not watch the game. The game was too dull because Libya only focused on defending and nothing else. The most annoying part is that their keeper kept on fainting on the field just to delay time till the game ended. They knew they wouldn't be able to score any goal or win the game if they had come out with force, so they kept on delaying time and defending throughout the game.

Apart from that, the Nigerian strikers were too cold on the field. I can tell you how many times Victor Boniface was able to get hold of the ball. He did not have a better score opportunity and he couldn't create one for himself. The only player I was truly impressed with is Ademola Lookman because he tried and create a goal opportunity and was denied one goal because of offset. If the team doesn't work on their finishing it will be difficult during the knockout stage.

I carefully watched the match of today between Nigeria and Libya and I drew the following conclusions.

• Nigeria has good players but majority of them lack capacity or motivation to represent Nigeria.
• This could be because of Nigerians bad economic situation that made the boys lose interest.
• Victor Osimhen seems to be the only one that plays with Passion.
• Lookman didn't show capacity and motivation until Boniface was substituted.
• Work needs to be done on the team, so much work.

I was not happy about Nigeria's super eagle performance today, Ive not yet seen any improvement from the national team considering how they were pressured by a minion team like Libya in their home. I saw how Nigeria struggled to net a goal with the help of Bashiru when they had all the opportunity to score the team with much goal difference. Nigeria end up losing their chances to later score a goal and be happy. Is this how we envisage winning the world cup when till date we fail woefully in the continental championship like AFCON. We really need to wake up guys.

Sorry mate your position is not correct about that, no one is settling for less in sports in Africa  and I see no need warranting the connection of politicians attitude with the discussion of football, your perspective about the Nigerian football team and African countries teams is out of context in the first place and I can contest it.

The World Cup as they call it has a Western and European dominance with virtually all the spheres of management and organization is under their charge. And with many controversial technical decisions that has been given in the officiation of games in times past when African teams play against their other counterparts I can unapologetically tell you that African teams are yet to be given a thorough fair play ground in the World Cup for them to thrive like their other continent counterparts in the tournament.

Maybe they haven't also on their own part shown much of a tough performance to find their place in that apex in World Cup tournament which I in some part partially agree but the above reasons I gave has also stand as a huddle too.
