There's a an award dedicated to only home based player of the year that's enough motivation to the homegrown players. The South African goalkeeper nominated for the best goalie is a home based player.

A alot of people just get to notice how good Ademola Lookman is but I can tell you that sine he moved to Atalanta he has been super impressive, we all know how he struggled in the English football but at Italy man has been a beast, he scored over a dozen of goals in his first year at Italy and last seasea we all saw what he did both in the league and in the European competition, and he is doing it again already this season. Atalanta are currently sitting top of the Italian league and Lookman have been involved in 12 goals and assist in 13 games in the league already this season.

A well deserved one, no one deserves it better than him, he was the best African player last season and no one even comes close. He pushed Nigeria to the final in the AFCON tournament even though they didn't win it but he was one of the best players in the tournament. Yeah he deserves the award more than any candidate shortlisted and he had the best season amongst them all. Lookman was not able to show a lot of qualities in all the teams he played for but immediately he joined Atlanta it was as if he finally found a befitting club and was immediately able to perform well for them right from the first season and now he is a key player for them. His contributions for club and country last season was impressive and deserved this award after singlehandedly winning the Europa League for his club and also contributing well for Nigeria in the AFCON but ending up as runner up.

Of course if he didn’t decide to Nationalize for Nigeria I don’t think he would’ve been recognized in this manner, England has a lot of players already and after a few call up he wouldn’t be called up again but playing for Nigeria is very different and now he is already an important player for Nigeria as well.

Nigeria has more AFCON award winners than any other country and it proves how well our players are representing both home and away and it’s good news for us and if a Nigerian can win it again next year it will still be good for us.

This is well deserving, congratulations to our very own Ademola Lookman, the 7th Nigerian that's winning the CAF player award, kudos to the other four Africans that made the final list, it's not easy to be outstanding among the rest and hopefully someday any of them might win it if they work hard enough to achieve like Lookman did, he was very outstanding last year and even this year and i was very sure he'll win it when i saw other players contending with him in the final list. People are just trying to be dramatic over this award. Last season was so transparent that there is no one deserving the award like Osimhen and this season, no player deserves it like Lookman but we know because it's Nigerian that's why some of them are trying to start a baseless campaign because they couldn't win. Someone that went to the final in the Afcon and was one of our own that perform very well, the first player to win hattrick in Europa final, won domestic league for Atalanta. People are just trying to be dramatic over this award. Ademola Lookman is one big player, all the accolades, the awards, the recognition, and the hype he all deserved. Winning the best player of the year was truly a dream come true with ease. Other nominees knew they were not near to competing for the award. I want to believe that everyone is on the same page here.

I like to see many African players doing well in their individual leagues. Well, Nigerians have dominated the CAF Award for two seasons now. Last year was Osimneh and this year is Lookman.
