I think CAF has been a barking dog without teeth in recent times and that's what has given some of these African nations to act out of conduct and unprofessional in different many occasions towards visiting teams.

The sanction as given is laudable and I hope it doesn't just end in paper but strict actions be taken on it. The ban against home games in Libya, at least for this year it's okay in order to dowse the tension, and it's gonna serve as a deterrent to other African nations who will want to reiterate such similar act. Because all of these is rather reducing African football development and it rankings.

I also searched through some reliable sources on the internet about the information contained in @Troytech post but couldn't find any but however, Lybia deserves great sanction and warning from CAF because what they did was literally a great insult on the African football body and it's not to be condoned so that it will stand as a lesson to other African teams that have done similar thing in the past or are looking forward to behave same way in the future. The Lybian government must pay a huge fine for this insolence because it is purnishable to jeopardize the security of world class players just because of a retaliatory behavior if at all their claims ever existed.

Are you sure of this news? I would have to confirm for myself but let's say it's true I think it's the best decision, some people may think it's too harsh but I believe it's the best decision, this would discourage other country from even thinking about such act. The Libya football federation should be ashamed of that action, it goes against what football is all about and CAF has made the best decision on the matter.

I hope the Nigerian team can be strong and see that they win the match when it is held, I am confident that the teams Spirit is still very much high.

But for the match to be canceled, then I don’t think Libya will be freed without being punished, because what they did is totally unacceptable. If Libya are not punished for their actions, then they are going to repeat similar thing against other countries, or other countries will do the same thing, but Libya should serve as an example to others.

I am happy to see that Finally we have come to that understanding that nothing in the Internet should be believed until we see the source of the information and concerning the CAF and Libya matter that has been circulating on Facebook, nobody should believe it until we see an official statement from either the X handle of CAF and her president or at least a press statement from them. It is fake news, it’s unfortunate that wrong information spreads like wildfire. Most people repost things without any verification of what they are posting. I would be surprised if CAF had finished their investigations and took sanctions on Libya this early. CAF are usually slow to respond to these cases and sometimes they never do.

It is fake news, it’s unfortunate that wrong information spreads like wildfire. Most people repost things without any verification of what they are posting. I would be surprised if CAF had finished their investigations and took sanctions on Libya this early. CAF are usually slow to respond to these cases and sometimes they never do.

So far, I have not read or come across any post or publication from CAF with respect to fining Libya for damages as a punitive measures for their ill actions meted on the Sper Eagles of Nigeria. All I have seen is the postponement of the match till further notice and I believe the disciplinary committee are still investigating the matter as such would take a long time because of the possibility of engaging each party involved and the role they played in the circumstances surrounding the act. A thorough investigation is possibly ongoing and maybe they could start from Nigeria on how the events unfolded.

Looking at the tweet and the account that made such tweet, you would notice that it was a direct tweet coming from the  account holder itself because if it were to be  originated tweet from the official CAF handle, the account holder would have retweeted it from the handle of CAF for confirmation and originality but it is not the case here and so far, there have not been any other post circulating this tweet which is to tell you that this tweet is unfounded. Maybe the account was just making fun out of the situation to see peoples action and reaction towards the possibility of the outcome of CAFs decision after their investigations if you read it, so your thoughts are right that the post is fake.

I have not come across the news as well but in any case, my agitation is that Libya should be sanctioned by CAF and penalized if need be else, the transgressions as claimed by the Libyan football teams that when they visited Nigeria, they were treated unlikely which as a result they had to treat the Nigerian football team as retaliation when the Super Eagles team also visited them for a match in their country.

So my intake is that if proper measures is not taken at this controversy incident, it would be frowning that the malice or crisis if I may say might escalate bridging the friendliness of the both countries and not just going to be a common in the AFCON activity.

I saw the same post trending and circulating on media but I can't find the originality of that decision and I rush here to find out the truth behind that information. Unfortunately, I'm disappointed seeing the same thing here without source of where the information originated from. Fake news is one of the demerits of social media, some people will just fabricate news to mislead others, that is why I don't jump into conclusions when I hear a news on social media, especially if it's not coming from an authentic news site. I've also not heard of any official news regarding the decision of CAF on the case between the super eagles and the Libyan authority. Cases like this needs to be thoroughly investigated because it is beyond national teams, the case involves the intergrity and respect between two countries. Let us wait for CAF to conclude their investigation, I'm sure that it'll be a breaking news that'll be all over the places.

As it was speculated that the super eagles were not allowed to book their flights back to Nigeria and were held against their will until there is confirmation of what will be the faith of the match tomorrow, the super eagle media person posted on X just 2 hours ago that they have been allowed to fly back to Nigeria, which they are already ready to depart, which can only mean that their decision not to continue the match tomorrow stands. This is actually unprofessional, and the worst decision a country like Libya could do to it's sister nation such as Nigeria, because in situations like this, I expected the organizers of AFCON to have come to an aid by calling the president of Libya to resolve all issues before it got to the media amicably, but it's obvious they decided to keep mute, and allow it longer this level, because if the Super Eagles come back tomorrow without playing this game, it will really mean a big slap to the Nigerian Football Federation, and it's organizers AFCON at large.

Even Nigeria too has lost his respect by having bad leaders. When a country has a bad leader this is what happens. Libya know that Nigeria would not do anything and that was why they did it. Bad leaders and fail continent. CAF should have alternative ways to remedy such situation in next time.
As for me it is not a big slap to Nigeria and this what you get when you don't respect yourself, APC government has reduced Nigeria to be disrespected to this level. We should wait to see what will happen in this case whether they will reschedule to play in another country or in Libya again but some of the Nigerian players said they will not participating anything with Libya again. CAF should resolve this issue fast.

Such a behaviour from the Libya management have nothing to do with the other country's leader been corrupt. It is an act i condemn which is not suppose happen. When it comes to football Libya is a team that is not well known, an act like this is sometimes which they shouldn't have even have planed because it brings a bad name to their record. We know how the Nigerians normally react to such situation that happens to the super eagles in terms of bringing or coming up with an irrelevant information just to confuse people, so anybody who believes on such rumors are obviously messing up their head because I only believes on what i will see on the live news and so far I have not seeing any news that has it that Libya has been given a sanction because of what they did.

Yeah bribe can be very common in all the African government but I believe this case will be a different one because had it been that it was just a case of two or four hours stranded on their airport it would have been very understandable to everyone but in this case they were held till the next morning without even occurring to them that the super eagles will need to have enough rest before they will have the strength to play the match the next day.

We just have to see this as part of the frustration coming from the Libya team knowing fully that they have lost hope of qualifying for the 2025 AFCON, they are last in the group table and a lot of points beneath which would not add to their progress even if they are giving the whole 3 points, but that is the least possible result that can be decided by CAF.

Their investigation doesn't need to take too long, everything happened publicly and their actions were based on revenge which certainly does not relate to what happened when they came to Nigeria. Wasn't certain when I saw the information because it was not coming from the official CAF social media pages. I literally got the information from my WhatsApp group and I believe solid information where provided there. To be honest, I believe these are possible sanctions that the masses want the CAF to render on Libya for their act. In the meantime, CAF has been unable to say anything good about the whole situation. As if their hands are tied or they are afraid of something. Giving sanctions or penalties shouldn't take that long. It should be a day or two day long.

Football should represent love among those who are into it, so even if the Libyan team was not to qualify for another round they should not have been that frustrating enough to behave that way towards another team that has enough point to qualify because on the first place nobody held them back from qualifying, so it was the results of their performance they got, so they shouldn't have putting their frustration on the Nigerian team.

This table has always look this way in terms of rating and is going to be a very long time before we can see any change from this positions however seeing the super eagles ahead of so many other countries in football shows that we have not completely lost our glory and so far Morocco is the only country that has been representing Africa with consistent performance on the world Cup, they made us proud the last world Cup by reaching to the stage they did, although from this list I realized that their seem to be a little touch because I don't think it was this way before because their was supposed to be some other countries before Egypt.

You should have at least confirmed the news from reliable sources before posting here and asking for our opinions on the topic. It doesn’t hurt to verify information before posting. Even transfer news posted by Fabrizio Romano can be inaccurate sometimes. The fine of $10million is an unrealistic amount for Libya to pay, what does CAF regulations say is the fine for this type of conduct?

Nigeria on 39 position is not too bad, and not too good because Nigeria can do better than Tunisia, Egypt, Senegal and Ivory Coast, but we lack the quality of a good coach and the commitment of players to play with passion for the country. Apart from Ghana and Cameroon, who are behind Nigeria, I don't see any country that has played well in the past. Nigeria needs to improve and step up their position on FIFA ranking because we gat all the quality players anyone can think of.
