Apparently, football riots has been for ages but in today's modern football I think it has drastically reduced in many parts of the world we see football as lucrative business and provide measures to ensuring it's mitigation to the barest minimal. The media moderation isn't exclusive to those continent even in Africa there are occasions of this kind in some countries domestic league's that the media don't flag off. If erecting the iron barrier around the pitch would be helpful then it should be made compulsory for every stadium to build.
The reason those iron barriers were removed from stadiums was to modernize football, not just in Africa, so that it does not appear that anyone is watching the game from a cage and to provide a physical connection with the players, but some parts of Africa are beginning to abuse that privilege. Attacking players, ruining stadium facilities, and causing nuisance in stadiums. Bringing back stadium iron barriers is not something that any club/country would want to do right now; they simply need to sanitize fans entering stadiums more, and anyone with a violent background should be barred from entering stadiums. There is a way a modern stadium can also be built with the kind of pattern that attracts for beautification, security and other normal stadium standards, things have advanced now, there is more advanced technology measure taken over the new modern stadium facilities as used in many of the developed countries, we can also step up in some ways just to ensure things are working as appropriate enough for the desired standard and safety of the spectators in the same vein, government and the football regulatory authorities have many things to work along hands together towards realizing a common goal.

It seems Augustine Eguaveon will not keeping his job for long even though he qualified the Super Eagles for the AFCON. NFF have decided to employ a new coach in January. The quality of the quality of the foreign coach may be lower than the local managers we have. The timing is wrong because we have the World Cup qualifiers to prepare for. How much time does the manager have to access the players and find a strategy that works for the team.
Why employ the servicing of a foreign coach all the time? Does it mean that there is no single qualified coach in the whole of Nigeria? The very issue with Africans is that they don't value their own. That's why Africans excel more when they are not in their African country. They prefer working or showcasing their talent abroad. If Austin Eguavon were in abroad coaching for years, wouldn't the NFF seek for him to take over the Super Eagles on a permanent deal? What other tactics will the foreign coach employ that Austin Eguavon won't be able to utilize properly since the Super Eagles team players are mostly foreign base players that play in big-known clubs.

The Super Eagles have achieved some good results under some foreign coaches like Clemence Westerhoff and Bonfrere Jo. Westerhoff led the Nigerian team to the African Cup of Nations finals and an outstanding performance in the World Cup. Jo led Nigeria to win the first Olympic gold medal. Apart from this two, other foreign coaches bring so much improvement to the team. Some former Indigenous coaches like Sunday Oliseh, Samson Siasia, and Emmanuel Amunike are supporting Austin Eguavon to continue with the Super Eagles. They are urging the NFF to consider giving him a permanent deal. My problem is not about foreign or local coaches but getting the right person for the job. They shouldn't go and bring a jobless and weak foreign coach who lacks modern tactics. And they should stop delaying and act fast.

Its sad that till this time the NFF is yet to have complete confidence in our local coaches despite their performance even when the foreign coaches aren't even good match we still want to prefer them over the local coach whos doing so well already, if only this our local coaches are given the enough time they really do need, i believe our local coaches will do better if they are given the enough time they need to get the kind of results that is expected of them, i even believe due to the Nigerian factor this local coached will even know theses players better than the foreign coaches.

I don’t think Augustine Eguaveon is the the main cause of the Super Eagles poor form in the AFCON Qualifiers. I think the blame should go to the players. They didn't show any sign of seriousness in the way they played, it seems they were forced or begged to come and play for their country. Playing for your country is a thing of joy and whenever you put on your country colour. I will suggest the NFF should watch out for home grown players who are eager and ready to play for their country instead of calling up players that feel that they are bigger than the national team.

What can we mean by fault of the players, closely i have never seen were this players are being begged to come play for their country, instead they defy every odds of taking the international break for their own personal rest but decides to welcome the invitation to come play. If you are good watching the African football you will understand the difficulty to play in the local competition compared to playing internationally. Our style of football in the whole of Africa especially the fully blacks are mostly aggressive kind of football, you can see that our squads mostly play Europe which makes them a little shift from the usual local style. Lookman and his brilliant performance in Atalanta and you think he will not likely want the best for his nation, Osimhen scoring, Boniface and the Naija brothers in Fulham all giving their best to their teams and i am positive they will surely want the same for their country. In the case of changing coaches, more detailed information should be placed and talked on before appointing anyone, we no longer need the quick change of management as soon as our play goes bad, sometimes we need them for the long run, a coach that can build his team from the scratch and put team in other, i do not necessarily care if it's a foreigner or local, both has been giving the chance to make things possible but yet no outcome, i really do not give much of a care now.

Time is really not on Super Eagles side but if the NFF should work on appointing a new coach by January next year, it will do a lot good in filling the gap between new coach and the Super Eagles players to study and know each other tactics since the Super Eagles World Cup schedule matches are in March, September and October. In March 2025: Rwanda vs Nigeria(March 25), and Nigeria vs Zimbabwe(March 24). September 2025: Nigeria vs Rwanda(September 1) and South Africa vs Nigeria(September 8 October 2025: Lesotho vs Nigeria(October 6), and Nigeria vs Benin Republic(October 13). From the quoted matches above for Super Eagles, the match that is a bit close is in March. The Super Eagles match against Rwanda and Zimbabwe. The rest of the upcoming matches are very far for whoever that becomes the coach to get the Super Eagles team in good shape for the crucial matches ahead of them. I just hope the signing of new coach by NFF paved well for the Super Eagles to qualify for 2026 FIFA World Cup

For me with everything that's happening time is virtually not what the super eagles have because from what I have observed time given to coaches only make the teams more disorganized well that's the sequence with clubside football but I don't how it relates when it comes to national teams and more over the job is way more harder for coaches as they get to blend player from different leagues and clubside to play perfectly together.
when you even consider the way the team is structured, you get to know that it's not all about how long a coach has to stay with the players that matters most because it's not as though the super eagles are a team that played together frequently other than the times when there is a serious game and they will havr few days of training. If as a coach you can't get them into the spirit of playing well during that small interval of days, even if they give you years you wouldn't be able to do anything different because you will have to adopt to the different names you will be working with at different instances. Changing coaches wouldn't do any better also except we are looking at scouting for local team players that will make up the super eagles which are not playing in different clubs that are far away and so the coach can do a long term work on them. The responsibility lies more on the players to turn up big whenever they are called up to represent the country. African football doesn't really more on tactics so it's not going to be an excuse that untill you get an English coach that is tactically inclined that you can't get the expected result.

We don't value our own and it's becoming a big challenge, few National coaches from within the country were poorly treated by the NFF when they were coaching the Super eagles. We give more value to foreign countries and that is why our economy is not growing but if we can value and support our own, a remarkable change can be seen. Austin Equavon is a good coach for sure but he will not spend longer time with the eagles even if he leads the team to victory because the NFF might not value his efforts. Equavon has devoted most of his managerial career to Nigerian football since 2002 and he deserves accolades for his love and devotion to Nigeria even if the government may not recognize him.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced on Thursday the final lists of candidates for its 2024 awards. The Moroccan city of Marrakech will host the CAF Best of Africa Awards ceremony next Monday.
Can they be done with this competition already and give the award to Lookman. I am tired of having this discussion linger. Any other player aside from Lookman winning the men's player category is a scam. I think the NFF should have given Augustine Eguaveon more time, at least so as to not disrupt the team's preparation for the World Cup. I don’t think Augustine Eguaveon is the the main cause of the Super Eagles poor form in the AFCON Qualifiers. I think the blame should go to the players.
I am beginning to think that maybe there is something that these NFF officials gain from regularly changing coaches, because what is this new development? They bring in a foreign coach to come work with the layers for a short while when they can have Indegineous coaches who can be long-term coaches to the national team without complaints, even devote more of their time considering it a national duty. I hope however the option they bring in is someone who can fit in to the team and help us win something again, because if the person is not, it will be another period of shame and embarrassment.

Few hours ago, Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced the finalists for this year's African best player award and surprisingly to me Real Madrid and Morocco forward Brahim Diaz didn't make the shortlist. My prediction from the moment CAF first published the nominees for the award this year have been that Nigeria and Atalanta winger Ademola Lookman is going to win the award and that's because I feel he's had a better year than the other nominees but considering the contributions and achievements of Brahim Diaz this year, I feel he should've at least made the final shortlist. What's your opinion about the finalists? Do you think they deserve to be there or is there any name you think is missing? Let me read your views. .

The reason it seems as if the Super Eagles of Nigeria have achieve more success under foreign coaches like Clement Westerhoff e.t.c. than with local coaches is because of the numbers. I believe we have had more foreign coaches than local coaches in the last fifteen years and the foreign managers receive more support from the NFF in terms of salary, bonuses. It’s no secret that local coaches are paid less than foreign managers. The players are more bigger than the managers, that’s why the players do not respect local coaches because they know the coaches job is not secure and can be replace by a average foreign coach.

What would someone who only switched nationalities from Spain to Morocco a few months ago and has never touched a ball at the AFCON be doing on the list? He isn't even a second-choice at Real Madrid; he won everything from the bench with no significant impact. He scored a couple goals for Morocco in qualifiers, but he achieved nothing (individually) last season to earn a spot on that list.

But we can still get a suprise winner, sometimes it may not really go the way most of us thought it would, Taking Vinicius Jr case, majority of hoped the award would have been given to him, but ended up being Rodri.

The poor performance of the Super Eagles eagles should not be centered on getting new coach alone but instead to be able to select the right players with the zeal and determination of wanting to represent their country. And if they want to replace Augustine Eguaveon, the NFF should get a local coach for the job. I’m tired of seeing foreign coaches who have no allegiance to the team/country coaching our national team.. Gernot Rohr who was quick to take the job as Benin head coach after he was sacked by the NFF. Foreign coaches don’t care as much as a Nigerian coach would.

It should be a rubbery if he doesn't win but I believe CAF will do the right thing. My concern is more on the best goalie, how's Onana in the top 3 and Nwabali isn't on the list. That's absolutely rubbish from CAF. I'm not saying he deserve to win as there were better performances from the others in the list but he should have been among the final shortlist and not Onana. Onana was very awful for the period the goalie performances were being considered. Lookman performance this season should be putting him in another CAF best debate for the net award as I see only Mo sahal giving him a tough battle.

Lookman deserves it if he eventually wins because I'm hoping no fowl play takes place, looking at the performance of all others who made it to this list, you will agree with me that Lookman has had a very interesting and more things he's achieved on the list, one of which was winning the man of the match against Madrid recently, another person who I see as deserving on the list was hakimi, hes been of a good performance but not as much as lookman both club and national.

Did you see how Victor Boniface, Alex Iwobi and Kelechi Iheanacho were playing in the AFCON Qualifiers? I wouldn’t have started them in any game if I was the manager. The excuse of African style of football is more tasking than Europe is old. This is not their first rodeo, all the players selected are not novices to African football. They should know what to expect and know that their playing style in their clubs may not work here because this is a different team and tournament.
