However, the most important thing is that Nigeria will be at the African Cup of Nations next year.
I don't know how the FIFA ranking was done last month, but I think it's way too much for the Super Eagles to drop eight places in the FIFA ranking because of the last lost match and draw they had. However, this is the biggest drop the Super Eagles have had in years, and it raising eyebrows for Nigerians despite qualifying for AFCON.

The Nigeria rival ''Ghana" on the other hand dropped four places in the FIFA ranking, despite not even qualifying for the AFCON tournament. The Black Stars of Ghana last secured a match win in June, since then they have suffered an embarrassing home loss match to Niger Republic, followed by a draw to Angola.

Why did Ghana have to drop four places while the Super Eagles dropped eight places, considering both team performance and achievement in this year's matches via tournament qualifications? This is the question that is in the mind of most football lovers in Nigerians about last month's FIFA ranking

I believe the reason why Nigeria dropped eight places in the FIFA ranking last month may be due to the fact the Super Eagles keeps struggling against lowly ranked teams that are supposed to beat easily. Nigeria is a far more better team than Ghana and as much, they are expected to maintain a certain level of standards. It’s hard to defend Nigeria’s position on the FIFA ranking when we can’t beat teams like Rwanda and Benin.

I can agree with your analysis, FIFA ranking criteria probably includes high expectations for a country like Nigeria, in terms of performance. Losing to a lowly rated team can cause more damage to a rated team's ranking than losing to a team that is in the same category or a more superior team. So I guess that could be the reason why Nigeria, slumped lower than Ghana, I guess that the expectations from the Ghanian team wasn't so high like that of the Nigerian team. I hope that the super eagles current ranking will be a lesson to them to buckle up to live up to expectations in their future matches because Nigeria, should be a force to be reckoned with in African football.

Super Eagles drop in the latest FIFA rankings I don't think came as a surprise to anyone especially after we saw them lose to at home to Rwanda and got a draw at their away game against Benin Republic.
I think the team became too relaxed after it was confirmed that they've qualified for the 2025 CAF African Cup Nations but have now paid the huge prize of dropping from their initial place in the FIFA rankings. Hopefully, they'll do better when they return to play international games next year

My concern is that the drop was too massive, they dropped eight places. Last month they were ranked The three-time African champions, who were previously ranked 36th, now they occupy 44th position. I don't know the impact of this rating but it looks disrespectful to fans to see their country rated below countries will less quality players like Nigeria.

Nigerian Super Eagles would have to redeem themselves when they meet the Black Stars of Ghana on the 22nd and 28th of December, when the two African football giants will meet for the African Nations Championship qualification.

I don't really understand the criteria that FIFA used in its ranking, and I'm wondering too seeing this very list, especially where Ghana is positioned ahead of the Super Eagle team as a more better team , however FIFA is in charge and I believe they are transparent with their decision. The whole thing balls down to super making sure they step up their game a bit in their form, and in their forthcoming competition that they'll play going forward in other to gain back to their place in the FIFA rankings.
Performance has been the point of emphasis in most cases but I'm not sure if that is all that is to it with the ranking so I will only speak about that which I have some idea about which has to do with their performance, the super eagles have had too many poor performance and for each game I believe there's a point with which they do sum up to getting all of that that builds up for the ranking and so if there's such then the eagles would probably have performed poorly summing their points and so the drop in their ranking.

Africa in the football news again in a bad light. A football match in Southeast Guinea  has left not fewer than 56 persons dead as club fans clashed due to a controversial decision given by the match officiating referee which spark fans into what led to a stampede in the stadium.

Football is believed to promote peace bringing people together but unfortunately it's heartbreaking to see it marred by violence. What a sad turn of event. Why always Africa?

Africa in the football news again in a bad light. A football match in Southeast Guinea  has left not fewer than 56 persons dead as club fans clashed due to a controversial decision given by the match officiating referee which spark fans into what led to a stampede in the stadium.

Football is believed to promote peace bringing people together but unfortunately it's heartbreaking to see it marred by violence. What a sad turn of event. Why always Africa?

Football fan riots did not begin today; they have been going on for a long time, and they do not occur exclusively in Africa; there have been reports of fan clashes in South America this year, with the only difference being that they do not discuss it on social media in the same way that we do in Africa. The media in those countries is moderated.

The ideal solution would be to bring back the supporters jail (iron barrier) in our stadium to safeguard players from riots like these.

Apparently, football riots has been for ages but in today's modern football I think it has drastically reduced in many parts of the world we see football as lucrative business and provide measures to ensuring it's mitigation to the barest minimal. The media moderation isn't exclusive to those continent even in Africa there are occasions of this kind in some countries domestic league's that the media don't flag off. If erecting the iron barrier around the pitch would be helpful then it should be made compulsory for every stadium to build.

Football is believed to promote peace bringing people together but unfortunately it's heartbreaking to see it marred by violence. What a sad turn of event. Why always Africa?

It's quite sad to hear such news, but here is something I want to point out here. I think football is a very emotional sport, not just to the players, but to the fans as well. The problem actually is that majority of the football fans across the world don't know how to handle their emotions especially when things doesn't go in their favour. You asked "Why always Africa?", But the Truth is, similar incident can also happen anywhere around the world, but the reason why it won't is because these countries have what it takes to prevent it.

Check the top 5 leagues for example, fans are usually restricted to some extent, and they know how to behave themselves. Do you know that in the English premier, a fan won't dare to abuse a player racially because there are things in place (such as mics under the sits). There are some fans in the English premier that has been banned for life from watching any live game. That shows how strict and tough they are in preventing all this thing, so it doesn't mean that they can't do it as well.

And, let me shock you, do you know that both the England and Serbia fans had a fight on the street in the last Euros?. The media won't talk much about this for some reasons, but you can check the video out on YouTube.

I'm not actually supporting violence in anyway, but I think most fans don't just know how to control their emotions, which isn't tied to just africa alone, but just that, our own can't be managed compared to theirs. We need to start putting the necessary things in place. May the soul of the departed rest on.

Local media outlet Avenirguinee reported that the match was part of a tournament organized by Guinea’s ruling military junta to support Doumbouya’s candidacy.
This part of the article caught my attention. The football match between Labé and Nzérékoré had some political undertone. Maybe some political group seized the opportunity to carryout this crisis.

We all so have some football fanatics who would never want to accept losses. They will always see reason to blame match officials and also instigate this kind of sad event.

My heart goes to families of people who have lost loved ones.

With how eye witnesses narrated about what caused the chaos in the stadium how it started, it was obvious it was a political sponsored crush owing to the political atmosphere in Guinea since the 2021 military coup. Possibly one which the perpetrators only needed to seize the right opportunity as the game was ongoing to vent their intention by using the referee's decision as an excuse.

It's a pity for the innocent lives wasted due to the stampede that resulted from the clash. RIP to the soul of the departed. We don't pray to see this reiterate anywhere again because football ought to be a game of love and happiness not the other round.

What a tragic incident. I was so sad to read that 56 persons lost their lives in the stampede. This is the height of insecurity in Africa football. Football is a game that brings people together, it’s sad when the opposite happens. I think CAF and the Guinea football federation and the local authorities should investigate the matter properly so justice can be served and make sure that such incidents do not happen again.

Why always Africa?
violence is football is part of the game, it is only pronounced is some African games because of the lack of proper security at stadiums and the obviously bad officiating that also take place in most African football games. we have had cases even in the almighty European football where fans stones players and fight themselves when things get all heated up on the pitch. its a sad reality we have to keep facing due to how emotional fans tend to get sometimes with the game of football and we can only wish that it reduces and that things becomes better.

we send our condolences to the people of guinea from this end, it must have really been a bad experience that could possibly result in the death of that numbers of fans. sometimes when you see this kind of news, it makes it difficult to even want to go out as a visitor in a match before for the most part, you are always the victim when things goes wrong.

Violence isn't a part of the game of football, it has no place in the sport which expresses why actors of violence be it the players or the spectators are always sanctioned and penalize for any act that portrays violence in the game.

It is traditional to see players go shoulder to shoulder challenging each other, their fans ridiculing and exchanging banter with one another in a way that doesn't include violence because if violence was part of the game sanctions would not be handed out...

Violence can never be part of football in anyway because football organizers does not promote any form of violence in field, however if violence should be part of football as you said we would have been seeing a lot of fight in every match both with players and the fans watching, so since the effective use of VAR it has almost changed the way most players react to each other because whatever you do you can never go Scot free because they would revisit it and see what really happen, however I have not actually seen this level of violence in the field to the extend of killing 56 person in Southeast Guinea, is it that there was no enough security in the stadium or what?.

Investigation to ascertain what will lead to this level of violence is very key, but what I think should be done by CAF is for them to start organizing structures that will be put in place for football fans across Africa to be oriented about how they should control their emotions while watching a football match in the stadium, CAF should as well increase the number of security personnel they deploy in the stadium to cover a single game so that the impact of violence even if is there, it will not be above the rooftop because there's enough manpower to contain it.

The banter in Africa football is much and the fans don't usually use their common sense when they are taking actions, they are always after violence which will never help African football to promote, and that's why we are always below the Europe in many aspects.

The African referees also have their own side of the blame, they are always bias which is as a result of bribery collected from any team that wanted their favor; if African referees can take correction and officiate the game with standard procedure, African Football will get a good rating across the world,

I was wondering why he said that violence is a part of football. If violence was a part of football, do he think that football would have gotten this huge interest and participation across the world? Violence in football should be condemned be it from players on the pitch or by fans. Football is a game of sportsmanship that is why there are officiators who guides a match and ensures there is fairness in the pitch of play so if violence is part of football, then there is no need for a referees and other match officials so that they can play on their own let's see if football will be enjoyed that way. Even some players are being sanctioned when they go against the rule of fair play which is to show that the football body don't like an atmosphere that will result to violence. What happened in Southeast Guinea is very unfortunate because no matter the level of grievance in football by fans or players, it shouldn't lead to violence that will take lives.
