On seeing that the NFF just recently appointed a new coach to replace Austin Eguavoen, i had to do some search about him and found his managerial stats, which is on the image above. From the records he's kept, i don't think he's the rght person for the job, he's not had a good significant record nor won a trophy and has been sacked mostly, in the previous teams he's coached, i don't think he's better than Eguavoen, left for me i think they've made a poor decision cause they should've hired someone that's more better and experienced than Austin Eguavoen, i doubt if Sékou Chelle would be able to handle the big boys in the Super Eagles, the likes of Osimhen, Iheanacho, Ndidi etc. The question is can stand the pressure that comes with coaching the Super Eagles or lead them to qualify for the World Cup? Eguavoen was having a good run and even if the NFF needed a replacement, it should've been someone with a better experience and record not Éric Sékou Chelle.

I was in shock after I received this news. What are the criteria that the Nigerian Football Federation used to choose Sékou Chelle as the head coach of the Super Eagles? As much as I know the Malian is less qualified than many indigenous coaches. Is Nigerian trying to promote African Unity by this appointment. Maybe instead of selecting a foreigner, they decided to choose an African (big brother promoting unity). What do I know, I can just speculate and keep watching how it will turn out. Africans are known to have xenophobic tendencies, so I hope Nigerians in Mali will not be treated badly if he is sacked in future? These are just my reservations, maybe he could prove me wrong and lead the Super Eagles to glory.

It's very sad and regrettable that my beloved country's football federation is making a very stupid and costly decisions that may limit the progress of the Nigerian super eagles team, why would they hire someone as inferior as this? It would have been very much more better that they retain the services of Austin eguavon than this coach they finally hired, it's very obvious that they went for the cheapest option and these are one of the decisions that is going to cost the super eagles so dearly because am very much certain that this Eric sekou chelle doesn't have the capacity to lead our super eagles team to glory, let's just watch and see how things plays out, but as for me, it's very obvious on how this will end, our super eagles might get back to the sorry state that they were under the leadership of finidi George if care is not taken.

It's unfortunate that after months of searching for a substantial coach, a former Mali coach is what NFF can find for the Super Eagles as head coach. Nigerians are not just happy about it. Questions are being asked, how was the selection done cos Eric Sekou shouldn't be the right man for the Super Eagles coaching job going by his managerial statistics, whereas there were several top managers across the globe who applied for that same position of Super Eagles coach. Let's just see what Eric Sekou can make out of Super Eagles squad to qualify for Next year World Cup

Why exactly the NFF will choose to hire a head coach who isn't as good as the one they are about to sack is one mystery I fail to understand as it's not done in the International football practice, this keeps showing how deep the decay and corruption keeps eating in the NFF. The current coach isn't doing so bad after all, he's literally looking even promising than this newly hired, I'm actually not pleased with this decision of the NFF and this is my insignia personal opinion about it.

I wished i know other qualifications that is needed to get a good coach rather than his past statistics then i might say if i am wrong somewhere. This is the worst coach the NFF are going for based on my review on his statistics. Well i will not judge now and again you don't need to make conclusion now. Let the music begin then we know what to say. For now i have already removed my mind from huge expectations for the Super Eagles. Highest if they keep messing up, ill stop watching their games.

I thought we have seen enough, everyday comes with new shocks and very soon nothing to happen will i get taken by surprise. I see all in the country complaining, best we can do is just alone to complain, what we say do not change their minds, even if he looks incompetent to handle the Super Eagles, let's give him a try and watch what will happen, we already know how often and quick we change coaches. Where i troubleshoot the problem is knowing that the NFF now has this new coach under themselves, too bad for him also because he obviously has no say in the management, whatever they ask of him shall he do with no personal opinion.

What do I know, I can just speculate and keep watching how it will turn out. sometimes i wonder if this sort of decision is done by just a single induvial without a thorough thought and analysis by other sports individual in the NFF before the final decision is being made. getting a local coach as a replacement for Austin Eguavoen should not be something you just sign a random person from an African country like mali because you want to advocate for unity or whatever is in your mind. you have to consider that this will never go well with both players and fans and that alone is enough to give him difficulty at this crucial moment when we are still hopeful for world cup qualification. the super eagles are one of the most expensive team in African football, if you bring in someone that does not have what it takes to managing this big boy which is the main reason why a foreign coach works better for us, the team might end up being disorganized. does it even mean that we don't have some local coaches that can handle our national team if we are considering getting an insider to do this job for us? Africans are known to have xenophobic tendencies, so I hope Nigerians in Mali will not be treated badly if he is sacked in future? These are just my reservations, maybe he could prove me wrong and lead the Super Eagles to glory.
what you are considering is even a one handled thing. wait and see bad results and you will understand how bad this can be because he will first receive some bullying from our social media community which is enough to give him a bad stay as the head coach of the super eagles. i don't see this news ass any form of a positive development of any sort.

If someone comes up to tell me that they lobby for the coaching position in the NFF, I would actually believe. Is this the coach we have been waiting for? Nigerians will drag him like a petrol generator if we don't win our next game under him very comfortably. As usual, I am not expecting much from the new coach and, by extension, no longer expecting much from the Super Eagles. Regardless of the big players we have, I have lowered my expectations from the team.

I like the twist to his appointment by the NFF. And that twist is that, he will take charge of the African Nations Championship (CHAN) Eagles for this CHAN that will come up next month February 1st to February 28th. For those who may not know, the African nation championship, is like the African nations cup but for homebased players. So, that's what Éric Sékou Chelle will be in charge of first of all. And then the key now is so that if he see this home based players performance one on one, he will begin to understand them and then likely pick some of the star players from there into the National Team. I think it is a good deal. We will no longer see only foreign based players in the game. It is a way yo motivate the homebased to bring their best.

Nigeria Football Federation always take a wrong decision. If that coach was doing well why Mali sacked him. That coach was sacked because he was not doing well in the world cup Qualifiers in Mali and that is the person NFF decided to employ to take the Super Eagles to victory. According to Ifeanyi Udeze former Player of Super Eagles defender said, Eguavoen is much more better than Eric Chelle because Eguavoen has made the Super Eagles to qualify in the AFCON and was preparing for the last games of the World Cup Qualifiers in the month of March 2025 and inferior coach was used to replace him. According to Ifeanyi, Eric Chelle accepted the offer because he just want to increase the total coach jobs in his CV and not to make any change in Super Eagles.

Football affairs may not have to go in this direction, because there could be many reasons to why a coach was being sacked and that does not mean he may not find a better team to employ him back, these same coaches we are seeing are under pressure to deliver and that alone is a stress being enough for each day helping them to lose focus the more, because of the increasing demands on them, players have their, the country have their ow, the fans also have what they contributed, but being consistent in making failure is what we may not accept as a take.

I really don’t know what criteria that the nigerian football federation looked at when choosing a head coach for the super eagles team. Whatever they are I really hope they are crucial and will bring good improvement and consistency in the teams performances not just in friendly games but also in top competitions like the world cup. I really hope we won’t be talking about replacing Sekou Chelle soon.

Nigeria Football Federation always take a wrong decision. If that coach was doing well why Mali sacked him. Sacking Austin Eguavon and replacing him with Sekou Chelle I think is one of the most bizarre decisions I've seen or read in football in recent time. Austin Eguavon in my opinion have a better tactical solution than the Malian who was sacked by his own country's football association. I'll not be surprised if the Super Eagles fails to qualify to the FIFA World Cup because I don't think the new coach have the tactical strength to guide them to the next edition of the FIFA World Cup. I'll be glad if the boys disappoints me and reach the finals

Looking at the stats presented here I think he did well in his recent job recording sixteen win in thirteen games and six draws and eight loses. I think he should be given a chance who knows he might turn out to be the moses to take us to the promise land. Let’s just give him a try and see, with the level of talents we have in the squad.

It is a big task for him. I imagine how the NFF will react if he performs subpar in this African Nations Championship. What do you think? Will they sack him? or still let him remain in charge—many questions, lots of doubts indeed. I have lost belief in the decision-making ability of NFF. It was a bad decision from the beginning to allow Jose Poseiro to go. They would have adjusted the terms of his contract and kept him to make progress on our shortcomings from the AFCON that we almost won, but they acted irrationally and let him go. We have not played a better football since what we played in the AFCON.

Yesterday I was reading the different comments on the new appointment from former players and fans of Super Eagles. And what Jay Jay Okocha said was the best. And I quote. Jay Jay Okocha 🗣️----- Greetings! Glad to be here and I'm well convinced that my speech today may offênd many people, because truth they say is bitter!
Super Eagles Nigeria may not win any trophy until the current Ñff official's are dissolved or reformed. appoint new officials who knows more about football, who have interest in football, who loves football, whom their lifestyles are football ⚽.
You can't appoint politicians to manage football, they will turn it to politics and that's what is happening today.
We have the best plãyers in the whole world but yet we have no trophy 🏆 to lay our hands!, not because of the players, absolutely not.
When you change a coach you have changed a dream, a vision and a mission, in short you have changed a generation.
Changing of coach isn't just as it sounds to the ear 👂, it's hãrmful to the players, they will lose focus! Except the players on their own demand for a better coach....
Before you consider changing a coach get some key plãyers and interview them, seek their opinions because most of the players performance is based on the good relationship they share with their coach.
Once you remove their favorite coach you see them slack..... It's everywhere not only in football.
Ñff should be re-form and that will automatically ear us a trophy because we have the right players for the Job.
Politics should not be played in football. I'm sorry to anyone who must have felt offended with my speech but I believe I have said my mind for the progress of the super Eagles SourceI strongly agree with what he said, the reform is needed in the sport commission. And the sport commission is full with Politicians and not sports-men. This is what I have been saying here. Politicians handpicked anyone they like and not the merited ones. Many Nigerians and fans of Super Eagles do not like this appointment. According to Austin Eguavoen in his statement, he said, "I have listened to my brother Finidi George to resign before they sacked me". Yes it is painful. When the Super Eagles were at the edge of losing all the two tournaments, he came and rescued them and this is what they could paid him off. Though he was not yet appointed has the head coach of the team but he was doing well.

Looking at the managerial statistics of the new super eagles coach Sékou Chelle, I wonder why the Nigerian Football Federation chose to bring in such a manager that have a poor managerial experience to coach the Super Eagles of Nigeria. In my opinion CSW should have stayed with Austin Eguavoen. Why can’t the NFF consider home grown coaches or former Super Eagles players that know about the country and her player or better still appoint a more proven manager with track record of success to come and coach the super eagles. I would have preferred the Nigerian football federation to leave Augustine Eguavoen given to the fact that his stat are not bad, but whatever their decision maybe let cross our arms and see if Sékou Chelle will be able to prove us wrong.

NFF appoints new head coach for Super Eagle The Executive Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation has endorsed the recommendation of its Technical and Development Sub-Committee for the appointment of Mr. Éric Sékou Chelle as Head Coach of Nigeria’s senior men national football team, Super Eagles. At its meeting held in Abuja on Thursday, 2nd January 2025, the NFF Technical and Development Sub-Committee had recommended the appointment of former Coach of the senior men national team of Mali as the new Head Coach of the Super Eagles. This recommendation was on Tuesday, 7th January endorsed by the NFF Executive Committee. Chelle, who won five caps for the Aiglons of Mali and coached clubs such as GS Consolat, FC Martigues, Boulogne and MC Oran, has been Head Coach of the Aiglons since 2022. . Read full details https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1EehptDp6D/ I just hope they will work with this coach for a very longtime because the changing of coach in a short time is not really necessary, I know they have reasons for changing of coach but it also has it own negative effect. Every coach has it own system and the players needs to adapt to it and sometimes it is not very easy for players to get use to a coach so quick. Changing of coach from time to time can really affect the performance of the players. The NFF needs to make a good decision and retain a coach that will stay for a long time and work with the players, this is one of the way in making the team better and to think of winning trophies.
