Ghana has not won a game in three fixtures and are third in their group table. The team captain Mohammed Kudus put an apology out on his Twitter account and says he is sorry for the poor performance of the Ghana Black Stars in the AFCON tournament so far. It’s strange to see this kind of behavior from a player especially a team captain. Do you think Ghanaians will appreciate the sentiment coming from Mohammed Kudus?

Ghanaian players will not be mad at him because what he did has no offense because their are players who loves and normally have some kind of live chart on their social media with their fans and also seeing how they love and expect him to bring a good results always, so perhaps he just felt the need to render an apology to those who had expected more from them and also given them hope that next time will not be this way, so actually this has been what most players on the international league mostly do, although the only difference is that the international players only express themselves that way through interviews after match instead of saying it on their social media but still I see it as a normal thing because all he said was nothing but the truth.

CAF just announced the last shortlist For Men’s Player Of The Year Award and the obvious two names which are favourite are;

Ademola Lookman (Nigerian & Atalanta) and Victor Boniface (Nigeria & Bayern Leverkusen)

But there's also Brahim Diaz. (Moroccan & Real Madrid) too which is shocking to me because I didn't see him do anything at the last AFCON. People are saying that it's Madrid's PR that is making him be among the last 3 shortlist but what do you guys think and who is winning it. Who do you think deserve the award based on statistics and not favourism

The three names are:
1. Ademola Lookman.
2. Victor Boniface.
3. Brahim Diaz.

I don’t know what Diaz is doing on the list. He is not a starter for Real Madrid. Diaz may have won the Champions League with Real Madrid but he didn’t play much in the tournament or had any stellar performances in the UCL. We all know the winner is Ademola Lookman.

I also did not see any impact Brahim Diaz make in his team to qualify him for a slot in the shortlist because if anything, the last time he scored for his country was in their game against Gabon where they won 4-1 on the 6th of last month where he scored the third goal and since then he went silent. It's probably the Real Madrid influence that is putting him there and I'm glad that the other two nominees have something to their names as well and had more impact in not just their clubs but countries as well and maybe Diaz was just put there just to complete numbers.

To be honest Ademola Lookman deserves the award. If not him then that would be Victor Boniface. Without any sentiment, Brahim Diaz didnt do anything much in the previous CAF games. His presence was not really felt so i dont know why he would be nominated in the first place as the top 3 choice of the people. I still cant believe that PR on individuals league should be used to judge international PR.

Obviously CAF would not be sentimental o this one. Ademola Lookman is the best African player of the year and he deserves it.

I don't think the apology of the Ghanian captain is necessary, for them having a poor performance in their matches was it an intentional act from the players? Sometimes, teams do experience difficult moments where almost everything they do seems to work against them so it is normal in football. However, considering how Ghana has developed so fast among West African countries is expected of them to perform more better in football but even with their influence in African football, they have only won the AFCON four times and the last was in 1982 which is about 42 years ago, quite a very long time. I don't think the apology will mean anything to Ghanians, it's all medicine after death. Had it been the apology was done due to a single match they underperformed it would have been considerate but going 3 games without a single win for a country like Ghana is really unfortunate.

No doubt it's obvious Madrid PR is a reason that could be behind Diaz nomination because even in his country team, there are players who should be considered to be doing even better than he's doing at the national level but may at club level they would want that title elevation for him else the lis is better of With the other two nominations who obviously are doing excellently at all levels.

Any person between Boniface and Lookman is ok for the award. Both has fantastic stats but it seems that Lookman's start is more beautiful than that of Boniface. Without doubt Boniface had an overall better season than Lookman based on club performance, but the great stunt pulled by Lookman by getting a hatrick in Europa league finals could be a crowner for him.

Only if Erik Ten Hang of Manchester United will learn from this and be remorseful.

Everyone knows who the winner will be, Ademola Lookman is the favorite to win the award because he performed better than the two last season. Based on individual performances Lookman was better but Diaz was more successful being part of Real Madrid he didn’t participate much especially in European competitions but he was part of the team too.

Victor Boniface also had an amazing performance last season leading Leverkusen to there first Bundesliga title and also to the Europa League final even though they lost to Atlanta. He played an important role in the team success last season but with all this can he be considered ahead of Lookman and Diaz?

I think Lookman is winning the Award, he deserves it if it’s based on performance and not favoritism.

I’m not talking about the players, the question is about the fans. Will Ghanaians be satisfied with the apology from their national team Captain? I know for a fact that if it was a Nigerian Captain that made such a post, him and the entire squad including the coach will come under fire. It is good that Mohammed Kudus poured his heart out, it shows he has a sense of purpose and understands his obligations to his countrymen. This is something that is not common in the Nigerian camp.

We all saw how Ademola Lookman single handlely won Atalanta the European Europa league competition against the best club in Europe last season( Bayern Leverkusen ). We shouldn't forget he scored three good goals in that game. We all know he deserves it more than anyone. Asides that competition, he was well effective during the African Cup of Nations. Victor Boniface wasn't involved during the African Cup of Nations Competition, but he scored crucial goals for Bayern Leverkusen during Bundesliga games last season. Brahim Diaz shouldn't even come up, Haller of Ivory Coast and Borussia Dortmund should make that position in my opinion.

The contenders for the African best player of the year has been cut down and now we have the three man shortlist and two of those players are from the super eagles of Nigeria while the other is from Morocco.

I don't know how it would end up but I think the biggest contest should be between Victor Boniface and Ademola lookman, this is not to disrespect Diaz but the two super eagles players are key players for their clubs and country with Ademola scoring three times in the Europa League final to clinch the title in the final they played against Victor Boniface team who had won the bundes Liga unbeaten and also won the German league cup.

Diaz is an amazing talent but I won't consider his a crucial player for real Madrid and to protect the reputation of the African best player award it should go to player that are indispensable for both club and country.

Maybe they are just trying to force his name into the list because I know that I did not even notice that Brahim Diaz was an African footballer, he was not influential in any way for Real Madrid last season and did not help them win in any competition they played in. The obvious winner is Ademola Lookman, his three goals in the Europa finals was a new record he set. If however for any reason they decide not to give it to Ademola Lookman, the next best person for the position is Victor Boniface because he was a part of the Bayer Leverkusen invisibles from last season. Diaz should not be on that list.

CAF just announced the last shortlist For Men’s Player Of The Year Award and the obvious two names which are favourite are;

We all saw how Ademola Lookman single-handedly won Atalanta the European Europa league competition against the best club in Europe last season( Bayern Leverkusen ).
Of course, everyone knows that Ademola Lookman is the player who deserves this award. Am not also saying that Victor Boniface does not deserve the award as well but i know a lot of people will surely vote Lookman for it. I won't forget all you have said, because while watching that game I had goosebumps all over my body. The funniest part is that the game was like Ademola Lookman vs Victor Boniface (Atalanta vs Bayern Leverkusen). Anyway, let's see what the result will be since at the end of the day CAF will decide judging from all the events and how they played individually during the international break in the Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers.

Real Madrid always has an agenda. It's the same way they have been pushing for Vini junior to win the Balloon D'or ahead of everyone else and they are already hosting pre-celebration events for Vini Junior even as there's nothing official for now. Diaz won't win it because it would raise too much eyebrows and tbh, I don't think Real Madrid even wants him to win it. The end goal might just be for him to make the cut for the list of nominees

Then they must be jokers. Real Madrid do not have the power to influence CAF, if Diaz manages to win the award, the integrity of the federation will be compromised as it will be an obvious robbery. If Real Madrid want to push Diaz market value up, they should start by taking him off the bench and making him a regular starter in the team.

My pick as well and it shouldn't even be a debate but he lacks the PR, though Bayern Leverkusen weren't the best club last season. They only won their league and going undefeated but they didn't play other better clubs in Europe. If they did, they wouldn't have gone unbeaten for so long as they did. That's what exactly what happened when they met Atalanta.

I don't think Real Madrid even wants him to win it. The end goal might just be for him to make the cut for the list of nominees

They already have achieve that if that was their aim, Brahim Diaz Isn't even that player to use PR to win him the award. Assuming he was on Vini jnr level for Madrid without even doing anything in AFCON, it would have been his award to win.

Nothing beats Madrid PR.

Ghana performance this year is very bad. And the worst part of it all was the match between Ghana and Nigeria Republic. Ghana could not scored one goal in that Match and that was a very big disgrace to the team. Just like Nigeria was beating by Benin Republic in the World Cup Qualifiers. But one thing I understand from this is that they understand their mistake and quickly apologized to their fans and good wishers. Look at Libya is proud of themselves.

With this apology their next match they will do well to impress the fans. Ghana Black Stars were very good in football and anytime when Ghana wanted to play with Nigeria super Eagles I used to fear them because they were good but things have changed. Though poor performance teams in those days can do well now if they have good players. Niger Republic has not qualified for any AFCON so drawing or beating by them is a bad omen.

Like Nigeria, Ghana is a football nation. I’m highly disappointed in Ghana’s performance in this tournament. It’s a shame we are not going to see the infamous Nigeria - Ghana rivalry in this year’s AFCON. They denied us that precious banter. I don’t think Ghana will be qualifying for the 2026 World Cup, what will they be going there for if they can’t they compete against other teams in the continent.

So what do you think is the problem in the Ghana football team that making them to perform this poorly? As for me this would have been to the case if Nigeria if not the coach was not changed. We thank God this new coach that brought Victory in the AFCON qualifiers. Till now the World Cup Qualifiers is a history in Nigeria. Like one of the football analyst was saying that. For Nigeria Super Eagles to be beating by Benin Republic was a big shame as Ghana vs Niger Republic. It was better for them not to even play the games. The whole Black Stars of African can't qualified in the African Cup of Nations. That is a very big disgrace.

But apology accepted because nobody is perfect. There is time for everything. Since they have realized their mistake. Meaning they will do well. Like the Ghana football team coach was very much hangry with them and from what I saw with what he was saying the problem is not from the coach but the players.

Man did you all see Victor Osimhen’s bicycle kick goal? What a goal. I can’t wait to see him wear the Super Eagles shirt again and score this kind of goal for Nigeria. At this point, I don’t even think Osimhen should go for Chelsea. He’s not going to stay at Gala for sure, his next move should be to a club like Real Madrid that can give him great PR and media attention so he can get his flowers as one of the best strikers in modern football.
