Checked your browser lately? What do you mean? Small measurements will be present All the browser based monero miners would be part of that unknown total. So roughly 70% of monero network hashrate controlled by botnets? By the way, Monero total network hashrate was roughly 260Mh just a month ago. And these numbers almost corresponds to current amount of hashing power that sits at public pools now

It's the same botnet as botnets which are based on infected computers

Take a look at monero hashrate distribution chart by pools Chart was taken from https://monerohash.com/#networkadd to this list a one more large pool "Mining pool hub" with ~23Mh + few more pools with total hashing speed less than 10Mh Could someone tell me where are sitting the rest roughly 300Mh of Monero network hashing power? Or did I miss something? A quick update to my post: I forgot to count hashrate of "new" pool - Nanopool. Its hashing speed about 70Mh. Here are more accurate statistics of monero hashrate distribution by pools Chart was taken from http://minexmr.com/pools.htmAdd to this list one more large pool "MinerGate" with ~50Mh And again from where are comes roughly 200Mh, almost 45% of network hashrate, from botnets based on javascript webminers?

~50% botnets and ~50% legit miners would have probably been my guess if you had asked me to take a wild guess. I don't think it really bespeaks rogue ASICS. Which is the only real concern I think.

I think Aeon is such a project. Not 100% sure but I think so. Haven't really looked into it. I don't see the value proposition in copy coins.

This is the thread we use for these questions. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=753252.0And it did in the past so why wouldn't it in the future? Hello Monero community!

Here is a list but I have not clue if it gets updated. https://cryptonote.org/coinsBeware, I just checked the site more closely and it looks like it's run by the Bytecoin Scammers so don't use those links as they are directed the a revisionist history. but the list is pretty valid. funny the thing that tipped me off is that they list their Scamcoin first instead of AEON. LOL

Don't know anything about XVG but from what I understand DeepOnion just adds onion routing to the wallet software. The same thing could be done with a tor wrapper to any crypto-currency. The blockchain is visable to all. So even if you are hiding your network activity you can still be compromised through blockchain analysis. Monero doesn't provide network level security at this time. It is in development. But there are instructions for running monero over tor which makes it equivalent to DeepOnion in that respect. But monero has the added, and very critical, advantage of having an opaque blockchain. It is more or less impossible to determine anything from the monero blockchain except that no one has double spent. Which is the only thing you really want your blockchain to do anyway. Unless its something like eithereum with smart contracts or something.

So I met a Guy at the Casino that had a Romero T-shirt on and I asked him if it was in reference to Monero and he said no but that he does in fact own Monero's and then after the hand he picked up his chips and left without saying a word.
That was really weird.
If the person that was is reading this go ahead and PM me.
