I agree. We should all panic dump and nobody should ever buy Monnero again! The Monerro Enterprise Alliance is worse than if the Ethereum Foundation and Dash Core mated and produced a scam-baby.

I suspected you might be talking about the second link there. And as it says in the title it wasn't an exploit and it doesn't count. The third one is also something we all knew about and was the reason I was advocating for minimum mixin levels since I first read the first whitepaper. The first link however is interesting. I wasn't aware of that. Thank you for bringing it to my attention. It's very new technology so it hasn't been researched a lot by many scientists.
I'd not be surprized if Monero would be totally broken in the next 5 years by a cyptographic research group.
This is actually a common misconception. Monero's security model is built upon making very basic assumptions about how very well tested and long vetted cryptographic schemes will interact with each other. There is the possibility that these basic assumptions could be wrong. That is always the case with all assumption. But this risk is kept to a minimum by making the fewest and smallest assumptions possible. It's not new tech. It's old tech put togather in a new way but in such a way as to make the fewest assumptions possible. This criticism makes it sound like you are talking about ZCash not Monero.

So what's the deal, did the patch get enabled or do I have to use the --user-agent argument? I use cli exclusively.

So what's the deal, did the patch get enabled or do I have to use the --user-agent argument? I use cli exclusively. It isn't going to take the dev team more than a few days to patch any vulnerability that has been detected and made public. I wouldn't worry about it. I certainly am not.

So what's the deal, did the patch get enabled or do I have to use the --user-agent argument? I use cli exclusively. That post is from last year. This issue has long since been addressed, and only applied to people running RPC wallets (generally exchanges, etc.) and even then only in an insecure setting (no isolated VM/container, same system as a browser, etc.) Also this was not any sort of "encryption" or cryptography bug, and arguably not a bug at all. If you tell the wallet to open up a port to listen for commands (is not, and never was the default behavior), then you better secure access to the port.

Does XMR have block explorer?I'd like to check my wallet balance. But I don't want to update my wallet.
You can't look up wallet balances on a Monero block explorer.

Do we have a date yet for when transaction fees are supposed to be reduced?
Once Bulletproofs go live. That's either March or September. In addition, you might be interested in reading: https://getmonero.org/2017/12/11/A-note-on-fees.html

There is a routine hard fork every 6 months though.

The first link however is interesting. I wasn't aware of that. Thank you for bringing it to my attention.
Meh, I told them RPC was an attack vector years ago and my statements were ignored and then I was told not to worry about it as 0mq was coming to the rescue. I also tried to vet 0MQ but did not get cooperation in my attempts so gave up. Hopefully it was professionally vetted but my questions on the subject were never answered. I just got trolled about using the term wrapper for the interface and got sick of trying. Also I was making an argument for this, which I am glad was the end result. In addition, the official Monero GUI doesn't use the RPC layer, and directly implements the libwallet_api for all its wallet functions.

In the end its hard to separate the willing from the trolls at points. And, I think, the team have largely moved off to their own forum. Just us stubborn guys still here echoing.

The Monero community has been looking forward to hardware wallet integration for some time now. A community member is currently working on a self-developed project. Furthermore, Ledger has confirmed they will add XMR support. Up until now, there was no real deadline for finalizing this integration. The developer working on it is advancing significantly. In fact, the integration may be completed sooner than people assume.

Pretty sure ledger will have it done first, but IDK. I don't follow trezor as much anymore.
