Do we really need to have email confirmations to make an account? If you care about anonymity that much, use a disposable address. It's more about laziness But: Not Found The requested URL /cgi-bin/3D" https://forum.monero.cc/user/acti= was not found on this server. Apache/2.2.22 (Debian) Server at tempinbox.com Port 80 nvm, different service worked!

forum.monero.cc won't allow me to login, due to inactivity. it would be nice to have a contact link on the front page. Due to inactivity? Is is about the Web of Trust part? If yes then you can just skip it entirely (and complete it later) i registered when the site opened. i logged in once or twice and have been offline since. now login attempts report that my account is inactive and refuse me.

Monero (XMR) is a new privacy-centric coin using the CryptoNote protocol (see below for more information). The open source reference implementation of CryptoNote was coded from scratch based on the CryptoNote reference implementation, and is not a fork of Bitcoin. Monero aims to be a fungible and untraceable digital medium of exchange. It intrinsically has a higher degree of privacy than Bitcoin or any of its various forks. It was launched on April 18, 2014 (preannounced and no premine/IPO/etc.). The official core team members are (in no particular order) - tacotime, eizh, smooth, fluffypony, othe, davidlatapie, NoodleDoodle AnnouncementsOctober 14 - Monero Missives #14 updates on DB, GUI, static builds, per-kb fees, support for MSVC 2013, mnemonic seed, DNS and checkpointing October 06 - Monero Missives #13 introduces the official Monero forum, improvement of the mnemonic seed, MoneroPulse and faster checkpointing, MRL-0003, addition to Cryptsy voting September 15 - Monero Missives #12 is a hearty return to our regularly scheduled programming, with the release of the Monero Research Lab, the official Monero merchandise store on http://www.zazzle.com/monerogear*, FreeBSD compatibility, testnet, and much much more! August 16 - Monero Missives #11 includes an update on the GUI, breaking the 600 subscribers barrier on reddit, pre-announcement for a donation system that also benefits donators directly, using "account" instead of "wallet", a Twitter campaign, an open-source stratum proxy, QoS bandwith control, easier compilation on Windows. Details in the CryptoNote white paper ( Review of the CryptoNote white paper) Specifications- PoW algorithm: CryptoNight [1]
- Max supply: ~18.4 million [2]
- Block reward: Smoothly varying [3]
- Block time: 60 seconds
- Difficulty: Retargets at every block
[1] CPU + GPU mining (about 1:1 performance for now). Memory-bound by design using AES encryption and several SHA-3 candidates. [2] Actual number of atomic units is M = 2 64 - 1. A minimum subsidy may be implemented in the future with <1% inflation to preserve mining incentives. [3] Uses a recurrence relation. Block reward = (M - A) * 2 -20 * 10 -12, where A = current circulation. Roughly 86% mined in 4 years (see graph). Join the smaller pools to improve network health. Larger pools can only reduce your variance, but on average you get less than on small pools due to ddos-attacks, higher fees, downtimes and slower hashing modulesOnly open-source pools are mentioned, sorted by donation then fees. Fees include the donation, so miners won't pay more than the fees listed on the "fees" column. Misleading advertisement = undetermined ban ("undetermined" doesn't mean "forever", just "as long "as we deem it necessary"). Manager's note is a list with 100 character max, no exclamation points and no links. For updates, please contact Quanttek (same on IRC) Beware: we are doing our best to stay current regarding fees, but always double-check on the pool itself. We recommend to use only the bolded pools, which are up-to-date on important updates and security fixes. Message Quanttek, if your pool updated too. @correosdelbosque, do you need any help setting things up like wallet, or registering on a reputated exchange website? just feel free to ask.
BTW: when I do see the pools listed, the one I use is missing (does 25% of net hash, it's the one where the attack packages been injected). Any reason against re-adding?

Use this: https://forum.monero.cc/user/resend-activation and then you can reactivate it, and we'll check what caused you to become "unactivated" (probably someone fiddling on the forum administrator side)

Guys, it seems some suspicious russian proprietary miner kachur is very popular already. I'd like to say that this mining software proven SCAM. I banned several miners after I found duplicate share vulnerability and all miners spotted in logs with attempt to submit duplicate share were using this software. Stay away from not trusted developers, there is no even BCT thread for this miner.
If you are trusted person, we can test this miner in isolation, I'll run test pool and can give you early binaries, because after vulnerability fix they probably deleted duplicate submission functionality.
Just did isolated test using latest pool software and 1.2b version of this miner. Duplicates spotted in logs immediately:... Duplicate share: {"id":"779749578400515","job_id":"394227879843674","nonce":"804f3800","result":"0000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000"} from 4

So what's your point? Leaving aside moral matters. The point is that those duplicate-shares are spamming pools with crap data which has a cost for us pool owner (high server load) + those fake-shares are counted as legit (trust-exploit) on some pool (not on my pool, I just ban them) which steal the hashrate from legit miners (number of blocks found is the same but fake-shares take a % of gain from other miners).

So what's your point? Leaving aside moral matters. I suppose you could classify stealing shares (and therefore XMR) from other miners as immoral, and therefore if morality is no concern for you then feel free to use it and accept the consequences. Personally I would be concerned about using software with a demonstrably immoral history unless I could validate the source very carefully.

Currently donating all of our 1% pool fee to the dev fund - mine at CryptonotepoolUK and support XMR at no extra cost!

So what's your point? Leaving aside moral matters. I double resistant's post. Running monero pool is very expensive and such crappy software made it much more expensive. I didn't count ignorants who running a pool and can't understand a difference between valid share or trusted one. Many legit miners still mining this coin and it's not good for everyone if they will be screwed by fake PoW and loose money. I know some miners in person and I feel some responsibility.

So our Mintpal XMR's gone or not? http://blog.moolah.io/2014/10/19/recent-events/MintPal Withdrawals
Balances that were not stored with Moolah have not been subject to the same exploit.
As of so far, MintPal has processed 2597 BTC worth of altcoin withdrawals since the platform was fully shut down. A large number of withdrawals (both BTC and altcoin) were processed prior to this event.
XMR withdrawals will follow shortly.
Some funds are floating around in the old wallets (having failed to be imported), and I am currently trying to reclaim these in order to strength exchange reserves.
Withdrawals will continue to be processed until all wallets are depleted.

Yeah, no new information about XMR withdrawals. Just hope for the best, think the worst.
One issue now is that "Alex Green" is the only one who controls the withdraws and apparently he's gone AWOL. https://twitter.com/MintPalExchange/status/523939006988701696Lets hope he's not a complete asshole and he makes sure people get their money back. Was XMR being traded as a pair during the short run of "v2"? If not then that's a good thing as people were duplicating coins via an exploit and I assume tons of coins were lost that way.
