I haven't tuned the software on these rigs for minimum overhead and I haven't overclocked the video cards yet either. Currently the farm is running at ~6GH/s or ~500MH/s for each 7970. I built it as fast as I could to get the mining started so they are currently running Ubuntu desktop. Ultimately I plan to create a Gentoo USB install that automatically tunes and mines each rig. Link to imgur albumHow much did all of that equipment cost you, and when do you count on recouping your investment? It amazes me that people still buy GPU:s for mining. It's a very risky venture that will most likely never pay off.

Mining with a MacBook Pro Retina, you mad bro? Ha -- just trying it out as an exercise. New to this and waiting for BFL delivery. But when that comes a dinky windows netbook will do right?

Wow, good job! May I ask you how much dollars you invested in this? Btw, with a 7970 you should be able to get at least the 600Mhz (Gygabyte goes to 720).

Finally got my Jalapeno in the mail today. Paid a total of $163 USD on Sep 1 including shipping, no upgrades, running at 5.1 GH/s. Even came with a mug. Seems like a good deal compared to what ASICs are going for today. The batch 1 Avalon underneath the Jalapeno also turned out to be a really good deal.

What are you hashing at?

That's exactly what I did. I used a dremel and just drilled out the rivets on the sides I wanted to cut away. I had to use some tin snips to cut away some of the bottom of the case as the 3rd video card would have used up a 9th PCIe slot which the cases didn't have. The cases are new and were about $25 each which is probably cheaper than some of the custom case builds I've seen. So why exactly did you buy cases at all? Waste of money..

some people have said that buying the GPUs and mining with GPUs is a waste of money... personally i think its a great idea as the case comes prebuilt with the motherboard tray and PSU mounting already done - the rest of the cases is scrap (and can be wieghed in for small change ) and at the amount he's hashing at the $75 on cases will be earnt back in 5 days it would have taken minutes to strip the cases down - i wonder how long it takes to build the 'custom' open air rigs that i see on here. if only i'd had the same idea for my rig (i have loads of old cases)

i suspect that there are still people who want to mine BTC with expectation of holding them til the value increases didnt you read the post about each BTC being worth 13k If you are counting on the exchange rate increase to make your mining profitable (i.e. you will not make the invested BTC back) it's better to just keep or buy the same amount of BTC you would otherwise have invested in mining.

I see that btcguard calcutate bad hash rate at beginning..., sorry, now in this pool and in my cliente run at 5.2 Mhash/s aprox. See my client Thanks Mojo for this board ( link), and inesperated use. Thanks kramble for a functional port open fpga source mining to this board.
