Bring on the ASICs ! lol

Just added a 5850 to mine and a new VF3000A is on the way. Grin

Runs a tad warmer, but looks waay better without the shroud. ahah

pEACe

You better check those VRM temps, had a very bad experience from running a Sapphire 5850 without a shroud ...

Temps went up by 2-4C without it and I put it back on even though everthing was <70C. Smiley

Hmm.. I wonder if the TFIII heatsink will fit ? lol

pEACe

edit

Nice eye mitak64 ! Was it the heatsink or the pcb that told you its a Sapphire ? hah

A heavy snow storm just hit, I barely prepared a shelter for the mining rig, but some GPU already died after one year of operation

Just 3 piece of wood (used to assemble a table), plus a piece of plastic isolation material as top. You are right that the snow on the top have already melted away today when I back home, but the water dropped outside the mining cage so it still hashes fine

Last year I had such accident when some snow flakes made their way onto the motherboard and crashed the rig, so now the motherboard is on vertical position and behind lots of fans

Did you read the full article? Seems a lot of the breakthroughs came on the software side, rather than the hardware side.

I think that's worse than the pile of shit in the chair a guy posted a few pages ago. What is the logic behind setting up a rig like that? That makes absolutely zero sense.

Its called creativity.

Bashing some redneck into the ground and calling it entertainment makes no sense.

Don't take it so personally. I think by "That makes zero sense" he means "The rewards of saving $3 by using tape rather than a proper mounting solution is not worth the risk of damaging the cards by standing them straight up like that."

Check out Catfish. He's got some seriously high quality rigs, and you won't hear people say "Oh man, you should have used Scotch Tape instead of those 2x4s. You could have saved some serious dough!".
