If you're building a large rig and you DON"T have a bag of at least 1,000 zipties, you're doing it wrong.
So true lol. I keep a stock pile of Zip ties around in case I get in the mood to do a little rearranging/house cleaning. I think every GPU in my farm has at least 2-3 zip ties each in some shape, form, or fashion. Forget zip ties... Good luck selling a GPU with glue all over the plastic shroud. Doesn't affect performance, but nobody's going to touch that. |

these direct cu gpus are the coolest 7970s out there. i did only one day of testing - couldnt run psu at 110% for too long. but at stock clocks it did 60 to 70 C. overclocked one card peaked at 75 others about 70. oddly enough it ran cooler with door closed hence creating airflow i pressume.
Forced ventilation is (almost) always better than open air  But, what's your ambient temperature? Intake temp is a priority to properly understand the airflow efficiency. Thank you! to be honest i didnt pay much attention to that. i had limited time to tinker with it since my current meter was going above 5A. i left this for now until i get 1500W PSU. i did my design based on many reviews saying 7970 dont go above 250W. though the current off the wall tells otherwise. If your current meter on the wall is showing 5A then your only burning 550 W. Your not close to 1000W. Your power supply is fine, just like you read in your research. |

Are you sure that the region voltage and frequency are the same in your comparison there? |

I think you are looking for problems. Whatever gets the job done is fine, in this case duct tape is OK if there isn't any zip ties around. I also don't see a problem in spending 20 more like 5 minutes on cleaning a graphics card that will be sold for $100-200. |

I think you are looking for problems. Whatever gets the job done is fine, in this case duct tape is OK if there isn't any zip ties around. I also don't see a problem in spending 20 more like 5 minutes on cleaning a graphics card that will be sold for $100-200. I think he is more on the lines of thinking in terms of preventing future hassle/problems. The duct tape thing was probably a joke. But in the sense of this convo, yes it obviously makes more sense to take 5 extra minutes to shoot down the right isle at the store and grab a bunch of zip ties, than take hours cleaning a boatload of video cards down the road. |

Thanks fellas. These are EK chipset blocks I modified to fit the board. In reality though there is not enough metal to cool these chips well. A really hefty all in one block would probably work best if anyone is a designer. |

( Had three ports that would not accept any Erupter USB that was plugged into it, but worked fine in any other slot. *shrugs* )
WOW, that is a nice setup. I bet your room is hot as hell LOL! ~50 Block Erupters don't create that much heat. I bet you his entire setup (Host PC, Block Erupters, USB hubs, fans, etc) uses around 200W, less than 250 at MAX. |
