1.63P what the hell Smiley Is this user owning a mining farm? I am trying to find a block with a single gekko 2pac hahaha!
Congrats!

Look at their shares: 57,489,538,169 vs network diff of 1,931,136,454,487 - so they're very, very lucky.

Based on their stats, they either have a bunch of rentals or are a big farm.

How to increase the mining difficulty on an Antminer s9?
On nicehash my miner has a difficulty of 65.5k and has 4 blocks in less than a week (great luck that's why I'm wanting solo)

But on Solo.ckpool my miner only has a difficulty of 12.5-12.7k and doesn't get nearly the same performance (less/not as good shares)
I know it all has to do with luck, but having a miner find 4 blocks within a week and only owning it for 2 weeks there's gotta be something to get better performance when solo.

No there is not. The diff of the pool has absolutely nothing to do with your miner's performance - trying to improve performance or luck by fiddling with diff is pointless. If you found 4 blocks on nicehash they were all shitcoins.

Or it's the greatest miner ever created and will gross you about $50,000,000 USD per year with 13TH....  Roll Eyes

Nicehash doesn't send standard data back to your miner. The found blocks is likely not really you finding blocks.

It's not that they don't send standard data, it's that it's usually not Bitcoin that people are doing rentals for and they don't send special data for that (and even if they did, the miner wouldn't understand it). Finding a block of CoinX with a diff of 1M is essentially the same data to/from the miner as a Bitcoin block at the current diff. A valid block is a valid block, it's just an issue of a valid block of what and at what diff it's valid.

You're right, but also I'm not sure what event happens to trigger the "Found Block" counter in the miner interface to go up. It can get a false positive when a multipool switches coins - not even that you found a share higher than the network difficulty, just Nicehash switching the coin on you.

Posting questions here as suggested by ck on other thread...

1. In solo mining my understanding is finding shares on pool difficulty is meaningless, share has to be solved to be less or equal than the network difficulty. Is that right ?
2. Does cgminer takes that into consideration when pointed to solo.ckpool ?
3. If that's the case I should not have so many accepted shares. My miner should only submit share when fond a block.

Below response from CK seems answers above questions
Quote
The answer is shares aren't worth anything but they don't consume much bandwidth and are used for feedback to the miner only to know they're mining successfully.

Still would like to know answers for below questions:

4. I see cgminer adjusts miners difficulty by its hashrate, how can I disable it and make it to find block by bitcoin's network difficulty ?
5. Maximum nonce on 32 bit is 4294967295. That's ~4.2 Gh/s. When you have more hashing rate than this does what mining software (cgminer in particular) does in meantime its waiting for next work ?

4. I see cgminer adjusts miners difficulty by its hashrate,

CGMiner doesn't adjust the difficulty, the pool does.

Pools in general do this to limit bandwidth and load on the pool.  The solo pool does this to give feedback to miners that they are really mining.  It seems miners these days don't believe the hash rate their miner is telling them so they tend to want the feedback from the pool as a verification.

2. Accepted shares can be a lower difficulty than the network diff, and just show you (and the mining software) that it's working

5. You can change the time, or the extra nonce. You can also get fancy with adjusting the merkle root. Mining space is practically unlimited.

Only parameters being submitted to node/server is time, nonce and extranonce2.
I dont' think modifying merkel root is allowed. If mining software modifies merkel root, how server going to validate it against the parameters I'm submitting ?

Hey guys.. ok so i only have 4 days experience in mining..

i have 1 Antminer S9.. and my electricity cost is negligible.. would i have a chance of mining a block solo on ckpool? is it worth the shot?
im willing to keep my antminer pointed there for 4months..

Also.. do you think i would have a higher chance of mining Bitcoin cash solo? or are their difficulties similar at this point?

Thanks in advance

You have about a 1 in 1500 chance of finding a block each day. Go elsewhere for advice on shitcoins please.

It's actually a bit lower sorry, I did a rough estimate and diff has risen from when I last checked. It's in in 7700 per day.
4.2gigahashes solves 1 diff 1 share per second.
Current difficulty is 2,227,847,638,503, which means you solve a block on average every 2.2 trillion diff 1 shares. You have 14 terrahash or 14000 gigahashes so you solve 288 million diff 1 shares per day.

Where do you check for bitcoin difficulty?

It was that, a month and a half ago. check out https://btc.com/stats/diff or use your wallet and type getdifficulty into the debug console.

If you have to ask "why?", you wouldn`t understand my answer.

The server can modify it, if it wants. I don't believe that ckpool does. I was just explaining how the mining space is infinite.

Hey.

I've been pointing my cgminer for quite some time to the pool but it seems that I don't receive any shares whatsoever.
Code:
 Queued work requests: 2883
 Share submissions: 0
 Accepted shares: 0
 Rejected shares: 0
 Accepted difficulty shares: 0
 Rejected difficulty shares: 0
 Items worked on: 17558
Discarded work due to new blocks: 1200
Stale submissions discarded due to new blocks: 0
Unable to get work from server occasions: 0
Submitting work remotely delay occasions: 0

Can anyone please shed some light on what's wrong with my cgminer?

EDIT:
Problem solved
