A modified version of the DDoSing persists. We are developing a solution to this.
Good to hear - sounds like its a very persistent attack. I hope that they are not trying to bribe SD to get back online. If you don't give in to them and adapt to the threats quickly enough hopefully they will eventually get bored and move onto a weaker target.

Dont know if this bribe is true or not but let say it is true, your site will be get ddos attacked from them and this will take some time to recover from it though. And btw what do you mean by weaker target? Dont you think moneypot is weaker? What do they get from weaker target? Nothing i suppose, better to hit on some huge site with good traffic so there will be possibility they will pay the ransom

I meant a target which is more likely to pay than a smaller site. Depends upon how tech savvy the target is. For example a large retail site which doesn't specialise in tech / or a site that has weak hosts and no way of defending against a DDoS will be more likely to pay.

Nobody should never pay this kind of ransom, because they will be encouraged to do this again and again...
Just use better filters to avoid DDOS attack
That's true man, if the extortionist will get paid what they asked for then they'll definitely try to extort it again. it's better to just upgrade the security.

Completely agree, those guys running the DDoS are criminals and need to be locked up - targeting legitimate businesses for pure extortion, trouble is its really difficult to even know which country they are operating from let alone getting proof and law enforcement involved.

It looks like only the static part of the website is unreachable, not the dynamic API.
Have you considered using an OVH server as a reverse proxy?
OVH recently warded of a huge DDoS attack.

It can't hurt to try IMHO.
Let your current ISP give you a new IP address, keep it secret,
get an OVH server, reverse proxy traffic.

Although weak host know how to keep on saving their budget or bankroll or may be some investor money. So why they should pay them up? Let it be ddosed, because they never know if this bribe is for real or not. Let say if it is real, you already secure your money and if it is just bluff, you already secure your money and nothing happened to the site so you are on advantage in this

The leaderboard promo is frozen from 18-10-2016 -> https://www.satoshidice.com/leader-boards/

Do you intend to bring it back anytime soon, SatoshiDice? I played for the longest win streak but it didn't count (before the DDOS), and I later saw that the bonus is 'stuck' .

Best wishes.

When I want to make a withdrawal the response is

"Insufficient hot wallet balance. The maximum available for withdrawal right now is -9.162E-5 BTC. Our technicians have been notified about this and will make more funds available from the cold storage."

Thank You

Its normal don't panic. Most websites these days have a hot wallet and a cold wallet. If the site gets hacked, the most they lose is in the hot wallet. The cold wallet is offline and impossible to steal. Just need to manually reload the hot wallet from the cold wallet.

SatoshiDice should consider increasing their fee. 0.0001 can be quite low. They should consider dynamic fees or a fixed fee of 0.0002.

Yeah Bitcoin is under an epidemic right now with the amount of record UNCONFIRMED transactions, yesterday I think there was 50,000 unconfirmed transaction. Right now you need to pay at least 100 Sats per bytes, which can get very expensive.

Assuming SatoshiDice uses the core Bitcoin client, they can enable "floating fees".
https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Transaction_fees#Sending

Quote
Users can decide to pay a predefined fee rate by setting `-paytxfee=<n>` (or `settxfee <n>` rpc during runtime). A value of `n=0` signals Bitcoin Core to use floating fees. By default, Bitcoin Core will use floating fees.

Based on past transaction data, floating fees approximate the fees required to get into the `m`th block from now. This is configurable with `-txconfirmtarget=<m>` (default: `2`).

-txconfirmtarget=3 would be enough in my opinion. Keeps the fee low and it arrives in under an hour.

@SD please consider ^
