My machine is running great with the new cgminer and pools that allow specifying 2048 diff. Pool is reporting 2.15TH/s 1 hour average, and the miner is using 0.66w/GH at the wall overclocked to 225MHz and slightly undervolted from 0.725v to 0.720v. I'm happy.

I've tried updating the firmware on the S4 and I get a SD directory omitting error.
S4 is not hashing correctly with elgius, so I moved back to ghash.io and set worker difficulty to 2048.
Hashrate at the pool fluctuates between 1.85 and 2.05 Th/s in the last 24 hours. Noticing ghash keeps redirecting me to uk1 and uk2...will test with us servers.
Use the link previously posted several times in this thread for the latest firmware without the "SD omitting error" this one: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/24462711/initramfs.bin.SD-20141003-1.tar.gzIt will update cgminer from 3.12.0 to cgminer 4.6.1 It does NOT fix the difficulty issue. Setting your difficulty manually at the pool you are using to 2048 is still recommended strongly.

overpriced miner, and now they are not even hashing to the speed they were telling you... looks like the S3 first batch. It suck that those company are probably hashing with your machine and give them to you once they have been paid off... you can see the network hashrate dropping alot when those are shipping.

If you have any setting or configure recommendations, please let us know. But the configure screen it is showing full 2th/s I just saw the second test - much higher DOA/Rejects - over 30%! That means they only hash at 2/3 capacity as the other 1/3 is wasted work.....
What settings are you using in cgminer?
If you tell me what the standard cgminer settings are in the S4, particularly the "queue" parameter, - I will be able to suggest what needs changing in an effort to decrease the DOA/Reject rate & achieve the full 2Th/s. It is obvious from the many posts here that the hashrate on the webUI can be completely different from the poolside hashrate, so can't be trusted. Also, as my graph of your S4 on p2pool clearly shows, over 30% of the work done by the S4 on p2pool is being wasted - so until this is fixed, I strongly suggest that you remove your claim that the S4 is compatible with p2pool as not only is this not true, but it's also false advertising & will save you many complaints from users who purchase the S4 to use with p2pool.

Anyone want to try one of these on a ckpool (kano's or my solo pool) and see how they fare? We don't have user selectable diff at the moment but it's just out of interest.

It is solo.ckpool.org, but after updating the firmware, the miner status goes higher, but ckpool has gone lower. In this picture it shows 3576.94 GH/S(5s), does that mean it went up to that for five seconds? because since the firmware update the (5s) part seems to bounce up quite high? it didn't do that before the update. http://i59.tinypic.com/1z4ctic.jpg

What is your pool? It is solo.ckpool.org I guess I have my answer? I tested with stock firmware @ kano.is, 2 units ~1.75 - 1.8 TH/s (if I remember right), Minimum Diff was set to 2048 and 4096 under worker managment, but seems to have no impact. I will switch back 2 units to kano, and one to ckpool now, update follows later) EDIT: p2pool test:

Thanks. Mindiff doesn't do anything yet on the pool. We're literally currently working on that.

@ yxt: Thanks for posting your p2pool results - it confirms what others have said here. The massive swings in hash rate as well as the spikes in DOA/Rejects is truly abysmal, at some points there are more DOA's than there is good hashes!
@ Bitmain: The S4 is terrible with p2pool. You should change your statement about them being compatible with p2pool until these issues, and others, are fixed.

We will try to connect 1 S4 your way. It should take at least a few more away before it can be done, but planning to point 1 S4 in about 4-6 hours. PM you! Just one question in case I skipped it: Has the problem with the "underperformance" of the S4 been solved?
I am aware that the miners works with BTC Guild, but even after installing the posted "firmware" which updates cgminer I still only get ~110GH/s @ghash.io and other pools. Thank you
