According to NIST and ECRYPT II, the cryptographic algorithms used in Bitcoin are expected to be strong until at least 2030. (After that, it will not be too difficult to transition to different algorithms.)

E-COIN IS A COMPLETE SCAM.
DO NOT BUY UNTIL THIS IS RESOLVED
I REPEAT, DO NOT BUY.
THEY STOLE $20 WITHOUT A VALID EXPLANATION. JUST FUCKING RIPPED ME OFF AND GAVE BULLSHIT REASONS.

My story:

I bought a card a week or two ago. Was fine, charging in places, BTC>Card, all cool. Worked well.

Until I decided to make a purchase of $1k+
This was on a shopping site.

So I send 2.07 BTC, as I already had a bit.
At that time, the transaction was at "$949"
As soon as it arrived, it said "$924.11"
I made a ticket and the woman asked me for the TX Id.
I gave it to her and she said the "EXCHANGE RATE" which apparently was lesser according to her
So I said fine, fuck this.

Today I login, and see this.
http://prntscr.com/9fqm7f
So the price is as stable as Preev? Exact rate?

And when I login
http://prntscr.com/9fqnbb

Nice ripoff assholes.

Don't believe their no fees crap.

Since E-coin sell your bitcoins on exchange, there is a difference between the buy price (most companies show it on the main page) and the sell price (in your e-coin cabinet), called "spread".

This is marketing, the price in the first picture is buy price and in the second screenshot it is the sell price which in every exchange is not the same.

I would call this robbery not spread.

There is no free lunch on the market. Everyone wants to earn it's portion the question is what is the amount he wants to earn. The spread is less conspicuous if the amount is not $1k but less. In real life usually if you exchange currencies above a limit you will get a discount in the spread (better exchange rate). Maybe it should be considered by the service provider in the future, just not to lost it's customers, or the bigger ones at least

I have seen you will add paysafecard to the topup options for your card. Is that allready possible?
What is the maximum daily/monthly topup limit with this option?

Obviously We will see the difference in buying and selling price Even You can see these kind of difference in money exchanger also Because due to the profit, traders selling and buying with some margin to get profit. This is basic all the trading sites. Not only E.coin

How is the limit calculated? Total fiat transaction amount? Or Bitcoin loading amount? Or is it card loading only?

My wife just ordered a XAPO debitcard. Because of there 50% discount you have now for the card. So far so liked there wallet really much. So far not found a good alternative only have to take a close look what the price of BTC is at the moment you wanna buy something.

This limit is for card loading only. More info about E-coin debit card limits and fees you will find here: https://www.e-coin.io/bitcoin-debit-card-fees-and-limits.

Thought it was a discussion topic about Bitcoin Debit Cards. Found this thread since I am interested in Bitcoin Debit Card to spend some Bitcoins.

how do i add btc to the card?

You should have a btc in your E-coin account. From the main paige in your cabinet select "LOAD CARD", select a card you want to load, than enter the amount of bitcoins you want to convert or amount of currency you want to receive and click on "SUBMIT". Your card will be loaded instantly.

Not yet. We have added PaySafeCard, however it did not work properly. So we disabled this Top Up method for time-being. I believe it will be back shortly.

The price you see before log in is 10$ or 10euros bigger than the price after login.

This is because these are two different rates:
  • Buy rate - the rate you see on our main Home page. This is the rate you can purchase bitcoins with (to be available very soon).
  • Sell rate - the rate you see once logged in to the account. This is the rate you can sell your bitcoins with (i.e. load your card with USD, EUR, or GBR).

Is it possible to courier the card as postal services are striking here in South Africa

We can only suggest DHL delivery: you will have a tracking number (in 4-5 days after the order) and will be able to monitor your card. The turnaround time 7-10 days (comparing to 4-8 weeks with standard delivery).

The recommendation for South Africa would be to warn your local post service you are expecting a package. There were situations, when DHL delivered the card to local post office and just leave it there (post office employee signed the delivery confirmation paper, however no one ever contacted the client - the card was waiting in the office till she arrived personally and get it).
But in most cases it is pretty smooth.
