The faucet took months to drain and I don't believe anyone hacked it.
I support VNL and all but that is incorrect, I supplied john-connor with the node.js faucet source which I found on github, then the faucet was working but decided that it would lock you out if you entered your addresss too much, the faucet had about 100k balance when it went offline as far as I can remember and has been down ever since.
I wasn't paying close attention to it, but I know john-connor contributed at least 150k of his own coins into it and that it ran for months. Some days he upped the payout for everyone in order to get it to drain faster. Also, I think he might have rained some faucet funds in IRC for faster distribution. Like all faucets, there were people with auto tor ip switching, etc. that he had to try to ban.
If it was hacked, I was not aware of that, but those coins would have been dumped months ago at sub 8k sats.
