Hello vanilla community! I realize you guys are discussing the ins and outs of the new vnl feateures (which are pretty cool) but i have something to ask.
While i am content with daily returns my rig would yeild, the temperatures this algo is producing are kinda keeping me away.. 80c is a little hot!! Ive read other people seeing 90+. Wolf0's sgminer produces less heat but with half the hash.
So i ask, what are your temps using the smelter miner and how long have you been mining? i would like to mine this but its not worth damaging my equipment.
Smelter used to go around 75-80 for me on an gigabyte r9 270x, but the fan was only around 90% if I recall (not mining with gpus anymore). Obviously you could underclock your cards or get a better cooling if you want to lengthen the lifespan of the cards. Every algo will produce high heat when the miners are highly optimized. I was mining VNL with gpus for atleast half a year, but there are people on IRC mining it since the moment the gpu miners were released. You get the same amount of BTU's from the same amount of wattage, it has little to do with the algorithm but more-so optimisation. Whirlpool has been highly optimised for Vanillacoin to obtain maximum throughput. My GPU farm (currently 28 cards) run on average 69c per card. Another update by John, sorry for the inconvenience, but the issues needed a fix!I've uploaded one last hotfix that allows extra incoming TCP connections when all slots are filled to be able to respond to probe messages for incentive reward purposes. Additionally I've made recent nodes synchronisation faster. The next version will be 0.3.8,

I sent a deposit on bittrex with the latest version of the wallet and he crashed. It hangs in PENDING DEPOSIT. No address or Txid does not show.
VNL sent from the bittrex to the wallet, reached without problems.

Hey guys, thank you for your insight. Its a bit more enlightenening to hear this from a couple of hero members as i figure you guys are less likely to lead me astray. Your both appreciated.
For the time being my cards are mounted to the mobo. My third card has a good enough gap from the other two that it actually (obviously) runs significantly cooler.
When/if i expand on my rig the cards will be on risers and will have more air to breathe.
Ultimately i needed to know if these temps are safe and taking your words for it, ill be alright. Again, thank you for the clarification.
If you have a garage and can get some shelving like this put the MB's on tile which dissipates heat. Spread the GPU's out and use the USB powered risers. The setup is very cheap and effective. Most products are accessible from your local home depot or lowes. This is my rig. In the heart of summer I have an oscillating fan that blows on the rig. It runs pretty cool in the summer but SUPER cold in the winter! Win win.  -pokeytex  Nice setup! Il definitely keep this in mind when that time comes. Had a habanero mounted in a babyjet take a crap on me recently so i converted the case into a gpu rig. X3 cards right now. MOBO has room for 3 more but one more card and im looking at having to do something like what you have going on. Thanks for the insight and sharing your picture |

Don't worry about your votescore as long as votecandidate is true. Mine constantly shifts from a positive to a negative number but I still get rewards. I have it almost running for a week, but never received any reward. But i have never luck...i also participate to the german lottery already 10 years, never won something |
