1  Economy / Lending / Re: I want to solve my problem. Is there anybody who could help me? on: Today at 07:25:20 AM
This would probably be another scam attempt of yours.

This post may likely be deleted soon by a moderator or maybe not and be moved to lending board or the appropriate board. Know that you are only here with no reputation and no one will want to lend you any money or give you money either. Just stop wasting your time and move elsewhere.
2  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: (Odds discussion) Would you still stick in your favorite casino if....? on: Today at 06:59:12 AM
I have been checking odd differences among bookmakers in the past. What I noticed is that the odds are almost similar. Also you can see on bookie 1 that the odd is higher today, but you can see on bookie 2 that the odd is higher tomorrow. I also noticed that if a gambling site has just started providing sport betting, the odd can be a little high but when they have enough customers and reputation, the odd will become normal like other bookmakers. I do not because of odd leave a gambling site for another. Presently, I am using Stake.
3  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Cloud Mining Questions on: June 07, 2024, 10:02:25 PM
You ar right that cloud mining are scam. It is better to avoid them. Some will begin with good profit but later the profit will be decreasing in a way the person will be losing. Some most cloud mining are just scam in a way that if you pay them money, you will get no profit from them at all and all the money you give them will not be returned.
4  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Thoughts on Passkey wallets? on: June 07, 2024, 04:00:07 PM
Passkey makes it convenient but not as safe as seed phrase. Just as you have seen on Trustwallet to backup your seed phrase using iCloud or Google cloud which we have heard of people that lost their coins because of that. Now it is Swift beta on Trustwallet which makes use of passkey which is also about online backup using your face ID or your fingerprint on your device to spend your coins.

Face ID or fingerprint is not recommended for spending your coins. If you unlock your device with fingerprint and also unlocking your wallet on the device with fingerprint, that makes the wallet to be less secure. It can make physical attack to easily be successful in relation to wallet compromisation.

It has security risks. It should be avoided.

On exchanges, I do not think it has online backup. Your username, password and the 2FA OTP can be used to have access to your exchange account if you want to use another device. But it also has security risks. I prefer 2FA OTP, while the 2FA is on another device.
5  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Cold Wallets: I'm confused - Unconfuse me on: June 07, 2024, 03:09:35 PM
So Ledgers nano seed phrase backup with those companies is now subscription service. Ledger Nano wallets are the worst hardware wallet that someone can go for.

Q1: Doesn't that kind of negate the value of the wallet, if keys are stored OFF the wallet?
It makes the wallet to be worthless to me. But your seed phrase backup should be stored someone offline in two or three different locations.

Q2: Is this $9.99/mo subscription mandatory? It didn't leave me much option?
I know the third party backup is not mandatory. But why would they include such thing.

Q3: Can I use the nano 3, just like it's advertized, without the subscription? I can write down my own keys and manage them myself.
The third party backup is not mandatory.

Q4: Is there anything I lose, that's important, if I don't buy the subscription?
You lose nothing but you gain something because nobody will know your seed phrase but only you if you protect it very well. You can even add passphrase to make it more secure offline.

Q5: Are there any important advantages, if I keep the subscription? $120/year sounds expensive to me.
They are just looking for more money. It has no importance to me.

Q6: I have a coinbase wallet.  Is that a hot wallet, or some other kind of wallet.
Coinbase.com is a custodial wallet but they have a wallet which is noncustodial. If the wallet has seed phrase, it is noncustodial. But it is close source and not recommended.

Q7: I also have Electrum wallet.  (was just experimenting in 2017, and didn't know I had a seed to remember, and lost my password. Just the other day, I was looking at some notebooks, an found the password. It worked, so I recovered that account. Unfortunately, it only had $29 in it. Cheesy
This is not a question. But it is worth knowing that only the seed phrase is enough to access your wallet. If you forget the password, create a new wallet and import the seed phrase and set a new password.

Q9: Is the nano X better than the S? I know it uses bluetooth?
Nano X is supporting more coins.

Q10: Finally, what is the most secure cold wallet?  Are they beter than the hot wallets, like codebase wallet?
Those airgapped and open source ones like Foundation Passport.
6  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is the private key of this secret phrase on: June 07, 2024, 12:58:20 PM
Scam

Do not send ethereum to that wallet to withdraw the 1600 USDT. Only the scammer can have access to the coins. If you send coins there, he will have access to your coins that you sent while you only have a watch-only seed phrase that he pasted here on this thread. Which means you will not have access to the coins and you have been scammed for sending ethereum as withdrawal fee.

Avoid this guy scam. He is only here to scam people.
7  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Reason people are so adamant to invest in Bitcoin on: June 07, 2024, 12:09:53 PM
Most people has used the word bitcoin in a way whenever they heard it the next thing that quickly comes into their mind is frauds, and this point investment is very hard. There are lots of sites that says invest such amount and received x amount in return all as a ponzi scheme and when they fails it gives bad name to bitcoin because some of those sites only accept bitcoin as a payment method,
I have posted before on a thread on this local board that people are not seeing bitcoin again as fraud or as a ponzi or hyip scheme. People (including Nigerians) all know that bitcoin is not a ponzi scheme unless the person is a bitcoin critic that no mater how you advice him, he will still find something wrong about bitcoin.
8  Economy / Economics / Re: Should there be a limit to investing in your children? on: June 07, 2024, 11:34:52 AM
Do you think parents should have a limit on the amount they can invest in their children?
Why are they selling property because of a child? Because the child will get good job. I do not like that idea if they want to send the child abroad to study. Why not send the child to a school in the country and hold the property which can be useful for the child in the future. People should know that someone that will be rich is not about the school the person went to. A good example are people that have poor parent but they become rich and bring their parents from poor to a better life.

I know some people that asked their children to school abroad and some sent their children to work abroad, many of these were disappointing. I have seen a lot of it that were disappointing. I will prefer to leave my property till when children become an adult and give them some money instead to start something. Letting children know that they will discover things that will make them rich and is not about where they are but what they are and their knowledge.

As some countries are poor, there are always rich people. Some people come from poor background but also become rich. Although, education is important, but it can just be a local education.
9  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to convert 12 word secret phrase to private key? on: June 07, 2024, 11:16:14 AM
Make sure to do All these under a safe and secure network connection. Also make sure that neither your keys or seed is exposed as they are direct access to your wallet .
You can use Electrum without connecting it online. You can download Electrum on an airgapped device and import the seed phrase on it. It will generate the child keys and addresses without connect it online.
10  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What is the role of home/away matches? on: June 07, 2024, 05:51:34 AM
I also consider home matches because players playing at home are likely to win than their opponent to win. But this is when the home team is very good and not just a team that the away team can win. Example is Manchester City to be playing at home. But there are sometimes that I believe that if the team is strong and playing with home team, that the away team which is far more stronger can win. This is just one of what to consider during analysis but not all. You still have to check other things like h2h, the players that wants to play in the match and their previous performance in the last five matches or so.
11  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to convert 12 word secret phrase to private key? on: June 07, 2024, 05:46:17 AM
If it is your wallet, you actually knew what you did in the past to get that 12 words for seed phrase. What wallet you used to created your wallet in the past, you knew it. You maybe can forget the wallet name, software you used but with your question, I guess you bought a wallet from someone or just wanted to make a fake question.
This is common to wallet like like wallet.dat for Bitcoin Core. There many reasons  someone may want to derive the private from seed phrase in order to access the coins. I have told someone before to use it to get access to his altcoin. He used it and was able to access his altcoin and spent it. Also many wallets have the Iancoleman guide because there are some issues that needed there users to generate the private key and import it instead of seed phrase.
12  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to convert 12 word secret phrase to private key? on: June 07, 2024, 05:34:03 AM
Run the Iancoleman offline. Its html file on an airgapped device is better for security reasons. Download the html and open it on a word editor.

You will see where you can past your seed phrase. Paste the seed phrase and scroll down. You will see the derivation part that you can click on to select the one you want. BIP44 for addresses that starts from 1 and the extended private key will start from xprv. BIP49 for addresses that start from 3 with extended private key that starts from yprv. BIP84 for segwit version 0 addresses, it has addresses that start from bc1q with extended private key that start from zprv. The private key to each address can be seen with the public keys beside the address if you scroll down further.

Iancoleman can not generate taproot address for now. I mean the bitcoin addresses that start from bc1p.
13  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Why 6 comfirmation? on: June 06, 2024, 03:11:48 PM
If you want to know more about bitcoin transaction reorganization risk, use this tool for it.

In most of the exchanges, a transaction must have 3-6 comfirmation before your transaction can be consider deposit. They don't release Bitcoin you deposit until that comfirmation is reach before they allow you to do anything with that Bitcoin, you may be allow to trade it with one comfirmation but you can't withdraw it unless that comfirmation is complete. Why?
Hosseinimr93 has answered your question already but on most world standard exchanges, the deposit can be 1 confirmation but the withdrawal is not more than 2 or 3 confirmations. The exchange that I have used that required 10 confirmations was in 2020 but most exchanges have reduced the confirmation needed for bitcoin transaction.
14  Other / Meta / Re: Has theymos ever banned any signature campaign due to spam? on: June 06, 2024, 10:03:14 AM
I've hired spammers, everyone has had a few.
So you are admitting of hiring spammers in campaigns and you think this is ok  Roll Eyes
Yahoo62278 has managed many campaigns in the past and we know that he is a good campaign manager. I think he meant that many campaign managers have hired spammers in the past. Many of the spammers were known and tagged. Some even plagiarized and got banned. Some people were actually good posters before but you will notice all of a sudden that they are spamming.
15  Other / Meta / Re: Has theymos ever banned any signature campaign due to spam? on: June 06, 2024, 06:30:55 AM
Why did you ask this Little_Mouse?

Any spam campaign in your thinking that needs to be temporary banned as a warning to wake their managers and participants up and need better management?
It could probably be because of QueenVera which was caught with massive spamming recently. I do not know but this could be close to it because it was known in less than 24 hours from when I posted this and what I could think of.

What that I know is that there are spammers and those that plagiarized contents that are seen in many campaigns but which the campaign manager will later remove or which the forum will ban.
16  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Does exploiting the Bitcoin blockchain act as a major cause of congestion ? on: June 06, 2024, 05:08:02 AM
1. Is this exploit done for selfish or general benefits?
Obviously it is.

2. Do you think Ordinals, Runes and BRC-20 will become a massive problem in the present and future?
Bitcoin developers allows it and they should know what they will do about it. If another huge buying comes, they will also still add to the blockchain congestion. We should have lower fee rate by now. So they are even a problem now.

3. should we focus more in resolving them or increasing block size instead?
Only bitcoin developers are the ones that can make this discussion and it is clear that they want the tokens to stay.

4. What's the answer to the topic title above?
Yes.
17  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Trade your BTC/NGN, USDT/NGN on: June 06, 2024, 04:50:05 AM
Any reputed member like CryptopreneurBrainboss, Upgrade00 and I et cetera can serve as escrow. This will depend on willingness. In fact, I will soon come up with my escrow service soon on this local board.

You can be whatever you want to be but it would be foolish of anyone to ignore the community FREE escrow to patronize a paid escrow service. Their loss.
If there is free escrow service in the local board then it is better for all their local board members to use it and the Op should used it to initiate the process it he want to be an exchange in the local board. Then another reason why go dey the process na the escrow matter, we know that in centralized exchanges or normal p2p we normally use, the transactions were very fast but in this because of the escrow as the third party there will be more delays in the transaction but it is more saver.
You people should not make it look like I am offering a paid escrow when I did not have a thread for escrow service. Or where did I post that? I have always told Igebotz how he is so being conclusive. And let me tell you people, anyone can come with any offer, be it free or paid. You should respect that and nobody is foolish. Like I posted on this thread before, but which I later deleted, Igebotz is kind of annoying with his attacking post of implying what he does not know about. I hope he will stop this as I am not competing with anyone like I am repeating a class which I have been ahead. Anyone offering a service be it free or paid, leave the person alone than to make people just want to notice you on a thread and attacking the person.
18  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Adding a seed phrase to your wallet on Electrum? on: June 05, 2024, 04:49:41 PM
The seed phrase that Electrum will generate you is bech32 that will start from bc1.

The seed phrase will generate the private keys, the public keys and the addresses. You do not need to bother yourself with private keys. The seed phrase will regenerate all for you. Just go to standard wallet.

Or you have a private key that you want to import on Electrum?
