1061  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A day to celebrate and pay tribute to casinos? on: June 06, 2020, 09:00:42 PM
They are getting our money by making us entertained and stay at their suites. Do you even think that they are this deities that should be served and be celebrated upon? No. They are getting the best our of our worst day, our worst night, our worst life and this is the worst idea I've ever read about gambling. It is just like saying that guns needed to be respected since it killed a lot of people.
1062  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you gamble to escape your problem? on: June 05, 2020, 11:59:46 PM
Avoiding problems is always bad because the problem is not solved and comes back again and again.
Avoiding the problem over and over again, we enjoy a passing sense of comfort from the fact that we did not have to strain the gyrus to solve it, but this is just an illusion.
The problem will come back again and again, and the situation may worsen each time.

In addition, we will constantly think that we have a problem that needs to be solved, which will prevent us from being effective in other areas of life.
Any avoidance is avoidance, whether it is gambling, drinking or computer games.

Unfortunately in life there are problems that cannot be solved. In this case, an attempt to ignore/come to terms with them, I think, is quite reasonable. But gambling, it seems to me, is bad in this case, since it undoubtedly helps to forget a lot, but it creates new problems, mainly financial.

Well, that would be the case if you will not be taking care of that problem and you will be taking gambling as a solution. I know that there are people that would be wanting to enjoy themselves rather than face that problem but if you will not be facing it directly and use gambling, that would be a long time problem and you will suffer more with either a financial crisis or gambling addiction.
1063  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: PAGCOR waiting for the approval to reopen land-based casinos. on: June 05, 2020, 11:48:48 PM
The disappointing part right here just that the government are not focussing on the pandemic and focus on other things.
Indeed. Actually I'm worrying a little bit with regards to protesters who conduct rallies recently promoting to junk Anti Terror Bill. Well I agree with their vision but, please for God's sake, not in the times of pandemic. I think government should postponed this bill for the meantime in order to calm those protesters and avoid mass gatherings Undecided.

I think you will not be able to stop these people from protesting. This is a way for them to control the media, to control the people. There is this one case where a police officer planted evidence to someone against the drug war, this could happen to any of us. Just imagine, having an argument against the government protocols, instead of them correcting that, you will be taken by the police and be imprisoned for days. They are saying that being an activist is not against that bill, but I guess there will be the times that they will be taking advantage of that.
1064  Economy / Speculation / Re: Continue to Hold your bitcoin on: June 05, 2020, 11:25:47 PM
I'm holding bitcoin with 80% of my investment. And with other 20% I'm trying to play around and make some profit. Also watching the price of bitcoin to fall down. So that I can buy some more Bitcoin in lower price.  Wink

I am doing the same. The op also says that it might just drop at any moment but I don't think it will be that scary at all. Investors will immediately take advantage of that droo and eventually, it will just go back to the normal price in a small period of time. Also, it is really favorable for a lot of investors.
1065  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is worthless, but in-game currency or tokens are priceless ...yea right! on: June 05, 2020, 02:21:36 PM
I hope those people I talked about it are like that. They think, they accept that mistakes and make something out of it but in my case, no. I could say that most of the people I talked about bitcoin are egotistical that if they don't want to, they don't want to. They don't want to accept that they have their mistakes where they should have a profit but they don't. If they think it is a scam, they'll die thinking like that, that kind of people. Some changed but they never even talked about it to me, I just found it in an exchange where they are sending btcs to other people, most of them stayed the same.

Always remember, it is not our duty to force people to adopt this technology. We show them where they might be mistaken about something and we plant the seed for something more to happen.

People do not like to be told what is good or bad for them, they want to brag to their friends that they discovered something by themselves. We plant the seed and water it and if the ground is good, the plant will grow.  Wink

Some people plant weed (misinformation) and we remove and destroy those weeds with the truth.  Grin

That is just nice. Well, I am not actually forcing them to use or adapt the technology, it is just that we end up in that conversation and they went to say that bitcoin is a scam, it is something being controlled by a group that will take the money of the users, something like that. I just can't stop being quiet and we end up in this debate and they can't just accept they are wrong, apparently, they are bad in debating too.
1066  Economy / Economics / Re: How long this crisis will be? on: June 05, 2020, 01:56:12 PM
You are right that no alternative solution has been found but I feel it's been possible to stop tons of diseases without vaccines. The front will come under more control.

The word here is not "stop", but prevent since as long as there is no vaccine, it will not stop. We can prevent the viruses from spreading jus by following the protocols being stated by WHO or the people who have knowledge when it comes to this type of viruses. Avoid sharing fake news every time and let's take care of ourselves as long as we can since the vaccine is still not done.
1067  Economy / Economics / Re: Fiat Vs Cryptocurrency, which would you choose? on: June 05, 2020, 01:02:16 PM
In terms of investments I guess crypto is better. But in day to day bases you really need fiat for sure especially crypto is not recognized all over the world and in convenience. But surely time will come crypto especially bitcoin will be known to the world not because it is illegal but most recognized and strong one.

The community of bitcoin is so strong that it kept on going even though there are a lot of challenges bitcoin needed to face. Right now, fiat is the choice of people since it is the common currency being used by the people. We can't assure that bitcoin will be used by the people in the future when it is that popular since there are other methods
1068  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin vs. Asset-backed cryptocurrencies: The race for future adoption on: June 04, 2020, 09:18:05 PM
Volatility might be a problem but it is also the reason why there are a lot of people investing in crypto currencies mainly bitcoin. I don't kniw how it works but if that will silve the problem with volatility, then it will not be decentralized, isn't it? I will stay here, and as the other posts said, there are already some cryptos that are asset-backed.
1069  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: PAGCOR waiting for the approval to reopen land-based casinos. on: June 04, 2020, 08:28:34 PM
I'm glad that they did this, Philippine gambling casinos have so many workers and industries that depends on their gaming and these people are starving, other companies and industry are slowly opening up, if the guidelines they've submitted are approved then workers will not have to rely on the government for dole out and support.

I agree that these people should be really in their jobs right now for them to support their family. The disappointing part right here just that the government are not focussing on the pandemic and focus on other things. The bills they just passed, another bill being talked about, how about the people still being affected by the pandemic? Those hundred thousands patients that tested positive with the virus? The mass testing? where is it now? They are more focussed on this "balangay" as a national shit right now that they focus more on rather than the real problem that the country is facing. I think I am a terrorist right now.
What they can do? They have already done anything and they are going out of budget thats why they do let out people to be on work. Its just really too selfish to conclude that government isnt really doing their job or
do say that they arent concern into its citizens safety but what you can do? As long the vaccine isnt available yet then theres no way on stopping for this virus to spread. We are embracing the new normal now and people
wont really have any options left and as said earlier by other members that we dont have any choice but to deal with it and since the government cant able to handle out in terms of financial support then
they would really come up into this option.

No. I am not saying that they did not do anything, I am saying that they are not focussing on the matter at hand. The senate are tackling "balangay" as a boat right now which I don't think a good timing to this time. People still need help, People are still dying from the virus.

They are more focussed on this "balangay" as a national shit right now that they focus more on rather than the real problem that the country is facing. I think I am a terrorist right now.
Just curious, are you are Filipino? It seems that the news is scattered in every social media platform. The masses are making a move in signing a petition to the "Anti-Terrorism" bill. I wonder if its just a move to contain people.

Yes, I am.

I've seen this Twitter Post so it kinds of annoy me since new hundreds of cases are still happening and deaths are still going. And yeah, thanks for that, that give me some thought of some guy spreading this for controlling the people.

Well, all of the places with the risk of getting the virus is under GCQ now, no need to talk about this, they would gladly say yes to this since they are wanting to take care of the economy and not their people. I agree that they should consider this greatly as there are still hundreds and hundreds of new cases adding up every day but I think it is in favor to them since there are a lot of people that agree with extrajudicial killings that is happening.
1072  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Pros and Cons on: June 02, 2020, 01:15:50 PM
IMO:

Pro - It is decentralized. You are free to do anything with it. You can't do it with fiats

Cons - It is volatile. We can't directly use it to buy goods. I want to use it directly, without going through an exchange. Another thing is the scams going around it.

1074  Economy / Economics / Re: The Coronavirus as A Means of Financial Reset on: May 31, 2020, 03:10:08 PM
According to petrol price increase, seeing more and more people returning to work from office and the return of traffic jams - financial reset has been done. But frankly speaking, based on people that are around me, nothing much really changed. So it is more restart than reset.

Well, you should look not just around you but look at the bigger picture. People are kicked out of their places because of their incapability of paying since we have no jobs during the quarantine. Even those with and without houses are having problems as well like food shortage and payment bills, a lot has changed and that started with the shortage of supplies of a country.
1075  Economy / Economics / Re: Some Strategies to Face the Next Crisis on: May 31, 2020, 02:10:35 PM
Well, some people are advising those people who can afford it to start an online business. I know that it counters some of the suggestions of OP not only the people who will start the business but the people around him but this can help in terms of having a profit in this pandemic. Though here in our province, the GCQ is slowly being raised and that means that the normal days are coming but in the long turn, you can use that business to save and get yourselves ready financially.
1076  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Would you donate in a casino? on: May 31, 2020, 12:10:39 PM
I think I would donate directly to organizations or people who needed help. It is not that I don't trust people in casinos or other third parties for the donation, it is just that it feels much better when you see those people smiling at you, it is something precious and it is kind of addictive since it is the reason why you help, because of those smiles.
1077  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [DISCUSSION] How to overcome a big loss in gambling? on: May 28, 2020, 11:10:55 PM
Luckily, only a few people here in our country could spend money like that on betting. That is almost 150,000 pesos and in a province that I am living in, that is a huge amount. As I  said, people here are not that addicted to gambling so people can really stop when they wanted to. Losses are inevitable but since some people are not really that addicted, they could lose an amount of money and just stop for a while.

During the height of my addiction kabayan, I've lost 30k-50k PHP in a land base casino in a night.  Sad

Back to the topic, as for the emotions thingy, whether we like it or not, gamble and emotions are connected. It can really spell the difference between you becoming an addicted gambler and losing all your money or just step back and think about your life and your future.

It is really hard to control it, believed me, but I've learn to acknowledge that I have this problem in the first place. Yes I feel frustrated and annoyed and irritated after a big loss. What I do is try to regain control of myself and realised that I'm not this kind of person and that I should be responsible and not let my bad gambling habits takes over me.

Thanks for that kabayan, you are right. To be honest I do see gamblers bet so much money on cockfighting but I never really see what happened to those bet. And I was addicted in the past but luckily, I don't have that money to bet with. I undergo some heart to heart talks with some people to help me with that addiction, some of them are professionals. I feel bad in the end but when I am addicted, I don't really feel anything except that gambling everyday is normal, I should do and continue doing so. My wife is the reason I stopped, she made me realize how bad that turned into and how strong she is, that is the push I needed to stop. To be honest, after years, I can tell that I am not the same but I still do some gambling every now and then but unlike in the past, I can control myself now.

Glad to hear that you did able to overcome your addiction. Yes, I was also addicted to 'sabong' as well, late 90's as I was closer to one of the biggest cock fighting arena (Sta. Ana and Pasay). And what I do is me and my office mates who are also into cock fighting will get out early just to go gamble.

I didn't seek help, but change my priority specially when I did get married. So the outlook in life has change and of course when I lost a high paying sideline of mine, that's when I have recognised that I should have save that money and not put everything in gambling.

I can't really say where Im from but we have some arenas here too. Last last year, my friend invited me to Texas Arena in Antipolo but I just went there to be with him and not really bet, I guess that is the biggest cockpit I've ever went so far. In my addiction days, we are in this "tupada" and not really go into cockpits to bet. That is why I don't really bet that much since we are just betting against a small number of people. I can say 5K is a big bet at that time.

1079  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you think shops should accept bitcoin? on: May 28, 2020, 03:06:09 PM
Why not? I know that the seller have the huge disadvantage here but in terms of the pandemic that we are facing right now, I guess it is better if we have a lot of payment method to choose from including those crypto currencies or bitcoin that you can use. We should also forget the price change since it is aimed to be used in such transactions.
1080  Economy / Economics / Re: Goverments creating digital currencies - Threat or Opportunity? on: May 28, 2020, 02:20:19 PM
Some governments recently try to create their own crypto currencies (e.g. China), according to reports. Some welcome this as a good step towards mass adoption of cryptocurrencies, others don't like it. Still, the crypto media welcomes this and we should consider whether this is good news in general or not.

What would be your opinions be on this? Should more and more governments create their own digital currencies and introduce them to their population or should we not support the creation of digital currencies made by governments?

Government is the one who holds the power so whatever it thinks that seems good for a nation is an obligation to be done. Threats are in every opportunity and vice versa.

This depends on the country you are in though. People also have their powers, unless a king or a Prime Minister holds the nation. Though I agree that threats are included with every opportunity being given, if the government is given the opportunity to create their own digital currency, they will do so. If they did, I don't think it is a problem at all with crypto currencies.
