1061  Economy / Gambling / Re: QuitGamble.com - Free Help for Problem Gamblers on: December 09, 2023, 06:20:12 AM
~
and also with their sincerity then success will come to this project and also for others that will be Open minded that gambling is not just as simple as they think and Gamblers should not be blamed completely because no one wanted to be addicted and the obligation here is to help them out and theres no need of blaming as this is really a serious problem as the world facing addiction problem.a friend of mine also faced this problem but lucky that he is now sober and yeah a gambling free human.
That too, sincere help is better than a forced one because you know that the person cares about you. Open mindedness is a mindset that needs to be learned early on in life because being open minded is difficult when you're an adult with an established belief. The victim blaming part is a difficult one because when you listen to the argument of these people that do this, they always sound so logical and reasonable but the problem is that victim blaming invalidates their horrific experience into a lesson that will soon be forgotten after listening to it, I hope that more and more people learn not to do that kind of thing against people that are a victim of addiction and many other horrifying experiences out there. Good for your friend to be able to stop gambling and live a life free of that vice.
1062  Economy / Gambling / Re: Casinos not asking for KYC to register and play, but do require it to withdraw on: December 09, 2023, 05:26:31 AM
That's a different matter, tbh. Changing the terms of use of a service is a normal thing and it happens all the time. However, it would be considered cheating or a kind of manipulation if it's done without notifying the customers nad if it has a retroactive effect which leads to depriving a customer from one or more of his rights. This is unethical and completely unacceptable.
But when it comes to kyc, what i would consider an abuse or cheating is not when yu ask the customer to verify his identity nut when you keep rejecting his documents without a valid reason or ask him to submit documents you know he can't get or any thing like that.
Shouldn't it be the casino's responsibility to inform their players that there's a changing in the terms and conditions? That's downward unethical to just do that unless they've stated that they can change without a notice but then, that's still an unethical thing to do because you're basically cheating your customers and breaking their trust. For me, I really like when they're just upfront when it comes to KYC, there's nothing wrong with that so why hide that and do a weird turnaround when they're withdrawing? And then some of these casinos are even crazier because when you finally comply with that underhanded KYC, they would subject you to the waiting game.
1063  Economy / Gambling / Re: How to self exclude from anonymous gambling sites on: December 09, 2023, 04:46:27 AM
This is a great option for gamblers interested in self-exclusion op. Problem here is that most crypto gamblers don't really know much about staking which is why they might avoid this particular solution.

All these solutions are unnecessary if the gamblers themselves had decent self-control, but that is usually not the case thanks to greed, selfishness etc.
I guess it's that time for them to learn something new then, sure it's unnecessary if they have a decent self-control but the point is that at the very least they've got an option on how they should do things and you can't really say it's a great option and then the next thing you say that it's unnecessary, that's contradictory.
1064  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Beware of Clipboard Virus! on: December 09, 2023, 04:12:37 AM

if it applies to mobile phones it will be very easy when newly installed applications will of course require approval for some access on the smartphone.
applications downloaded from official sites may have very little risk. but on a PC or other device, we often download and install applications provided by other developers.
There are some stuff that can easily bypass through a phone's security and even on the app store that are supposedly safe for you to download on stuff, you can see some apps that can bypass through that are Trojan. You also can never be sure of official sites because there are scammers that imitates the official website and pays top dollar to get on top of the search engine results which buries the official site on 3rd or 4th place in the results. The best thing to do is to double or triple check so you are sure that something isn't fishy.
~
If a virus has been detected, reinstalling your device is the most appropriate choice to clean everything. As OP experienced, it's possible that the antivirus really didn't detect the virus until we realized when it was connected to a crypto wallet. and the situation is just waiting for us to be careless.
Nope, reformat is the best thing to do if there's a potential that you've downloaded a virus together with an app, that's the only way to remove the virus and be sure that reuse of the computer is clean slate. Virus don't go away just because you've deleted the file that it came with because some of them install themselves somewhere that's different from the destination of the file that they've been with.
1065  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Beware of Clipboard Virus! on: December 09, 2023, 02:44:29 AM
That could be the answer since, I recently got this device. So a lot of software had to be reinstalled. But that's not what I'm worrying about. I worry about windows defender not detecting it. And it's not that I got infected and the very moment I noticed it. I think I was infected for more then 10 days. There was no way of knowing, until I tried to make a transaction and made this discovery. That's what I don't like about it. This sly virus, not showing up anywhere until someone tried something related to crypto.
Have you checked on any of your recent programs that you've downloaded? There's a possibility that the reason why the Windows Defender didn't detect this is probably because it's a Trojan and an advance one at that as Windows Defender is already a good antivirus program so you can probably check on the previous downloads that you've done. Is this virus only a thing for computers? Or is it on mobile too? It's a scary thing for me because I'm not really checking too much on which address I would send my bitcoin so I'm a likely victim to this, good thing I don't do a lot of transactions.

1067  Economy / Speculation / Re: Buy the DIP, and HODL! on: December 08, 2023, 09:05:05 AM
Sure if you have long term investment ideas, then you would likely not be selling any of your bitcoin now, but I doubt that the reason would merely be because you expect profits to be guaranteed in the future, but instead that you had made your investment into bitcoin based on a long term investment thesis and you are not merely thinking about short term profits.
That's a decent thesis to follow, a lot of people have regretted not getting into bitcoin and they're not really that into missing out again if they can help it, plus it's the easiest thesis to follow when it comes to bitcoin investing, all you need is patience to wait for your bitcoin price to come and then buy again when the price starts going down and setting another goal.
On the other hand, if you come into bitcoin and you do not have solid ideas for what might be your investment thesis, and you might not even know why you like bitcoin except for thinking that it could make you some money, then you likely would be more inclined to sell at various points along the way, and you might not really realize that you could sell in increments, but instead you think about either being in or out, and so it could look very attractive to get 40% to 60% profits in less than a couple of months.
Totally agree, not knowing where you stand in something will ultimately be your downfall and in the case of bitcoin investment, neutral or indecisive stance will lead to losses and discouragement from investing in something ever again. If you don't like complications, just follow the first investing thesis since you don't have to work too much in terms of analysis there but do what works best for you.
1068  Economy / Economics / Re: On retirement on: December 08, 2023, 08:37:02 AM
I don't know how's life in other country but in here where I live, nowadays I don't think retirement is still that much relevant. I could divide people into two groups, the first one is people who doesn't has many option for their job just took any job, most of the time low-paying job, they most likely hate their job, but they can't afford retirement because there is no money left from their salary to be saved. The other group is people who are people who can get the job that they like and they keep working even after the age of retirement, even after they quit their job they still working sometimes as a consultant, even tho they can afford retirement they do not completely retired.
You seriously need to get out of that country that you're from if that's the norm on the retirement is because that's downright sad that the notion of retirement sounds like a choice and not the fate of working your ass off for a long time. Maybe if the workers made unions and try to ask for a fair wage that's updated to the current standard of living, maybe we would see less and less people becoming miserable with their jobs, that's the only way that workers aren't going to become robots that would look at retirement as a death sentence for their livelihood.
1069  Economy / Economics / Re: The power of investment choices on: December 08, 2023, 07:45:43 AM
If you ask me I will say only buy Bitcoin but I see why latecomers are attracted elsewhere, there are other cryptocurrencies with unique features & potential for large growth. Diversification is key for some people, It is advisable to research & understand the potential of different cryptocurrencies considering factors such as technology, adoption & market trends. Each cryptocurrency offers different opportunities & risks so a balanced investment strategy that includes a mix of cryptocurrencies may be more beneficial for some in the long run.
Diversification is definitely a good thing but the problem in my opinion with that is that not all altcoins even those with promising technology and other stuff, you're still risking a lot of your money in diversifying in hopes that you can hit a lot of altcoins and get more profit when you can just buy bitcoin and hodl, it's more a better option that diverse number of crypto because with bitcoin, you're guaranteed to make a profit if you're patient unlike altcoins that are 90% likely not to go up after one peak in prices.
1070  Economy / Economics / Re: Banks are the cause of millions of crypto project failures on: December 08, 2023, 07:17:43 AM
~

That's normal and rational if we see Maybe the OP's response is just to express frustration at the many negative problems that often happen to banks which are detrimental to many investors and customers. So in my opinion it is normal if you look at the banking system itself and they are not immune to fraudulent practices or detrimental behavior.
What are you talking about? How can they exactly prove that banks are one of the reasons why it's a big reason why crypto projects fail. Of course they're not immune to fraud, but banks have a way to be able to detect them and find them and that's not even the point of this post anyway. How exactly is it normal that there's a lot of projects that fail?
1071  Economy / Economics / Re: World is full of things what nobody dont need just too much on: December 08, 2023, 06:50:37 AM
I get the plight that you have OP, maybe the reason why we all have these so-called "useless" stuff in this world is probably because our species is an innovator and we are trying to create a perfect life and so we end up having to spend this time creating stuff that we believe is essential until another one builds the same thing but has a different name and have a minor difference in function. Another thing that I believe is making us think this way and how we're creating stuff we don't need is because our brain can't or is programmed in a way that we can't stop doing something or that we can never feel boredom so we have to continuously think and innovate or maybe it's just capitalism in full working order.
1072  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What are your big plans for the Bitcoin halving coming up in a few months? on: December 08, 2023, 05:57:56 AM
Nothing in particular, probably just save enough money so I can buy more in case the black swan event happens after or before the halving, that's probably all that I've got in terms of plan for the halving, I trust bitcoin and I have a target price so I don't think I have much to do besides having to hodl for as long as I can or until I get to the price that I promised I would sell all of my bitcoins in. That's not a big or grand plan but I'm happy with following that plan and I thought it's worth sharing.
1073  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: A scammer selling Bitcoin for $1000 on: December 08, 2023, 05:31:33 AM
Even people who aren't logged into the forum will see the big banner that reads "Warning: One or more bitcointalk.org users have reported that they strongly believe that the creator of this topic is a scammer.... etc." Not much you can do for people who read that and still choose to interact with the OP.
As much as I do think too that there's nothing we can do to those people that still chose to get scammed by this or rather take chance that this is the real deal, I still feel bad that they're that desperate about finding ways to get ahead in the crypto landscape, I guess when you let the money blind you, you let anyone that offers you a too good to be true of a deal get a chance to scam you and step all over you at the end.
The guy is a notorious, long-time scammer that has gone by several other names like humbertin, humberroll, etc. He appears to be a professional scammer although he certainly isn't the brightest.
Why would you say a professional scammer but then say he's not the brightest? Cheesy That's an irony if I've seen one, so technically this person is a professional dummy then? I just hope that this scammer finally find remorse and hopefully find the strength to make an honest living.
1074  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: JustBit.io scamming again so much for No KYC for Crypto on: December 08, 2023, 04:58:25 AM
They may not require a mandatory KYC but that doesn't mean they can't request if from you since most gambling websites have KYC/AML policies which you have probably triggered. I'm not necessarily saying that the trigger was valid, but merely laying out that they're there which could cause your situation.
That's a bad way to do business, lying to your customers whom they've trusted that they're not going to need any type of KYC to play there and from what OP had said, the withdrawal came from a win so how the hell can that be a possibility that the money comes from a money laundering operation? It's weird thay they've allowed OP to withdraw 3 times with no problem and then do this stuff, maybe OP really did flag some identifiers for a money laundering that the team has put in their site or they're just being an asshole, the only way that I can think that OP has created this kind of problem is that the last 3 withdrawals were consistent to a schedule or something like that.
Honestly, these services should start going with "no mandatory kyc" instead of "no kyc" so it's clearer but I guess the latter works better for them, ahem.
That's the same thing for many people though? The semantics and the meaning of the words will just be the same for some people and at the same time it's going to confuse them anyway. When it comes to this stuff, there's no grey area, it's either there's a KYC or there's no KYC.
1075  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: A tour or guide after signup might be useful to a beginner on: December 07, 2023, 07:45:25 AM
OP, I’ve been on the forum for five years, and it was in this design before me, and I think it will remain so for a long time. The thing is different; it takes time to get used to it. You've found a section for your local board. The next step is to travel here to the section for beginners. Was this a problem? All beginners need is patience. A lot of people have been here for several years, and I am sure that for many, it is absolutely convenient to navigate the forum, knowing where and what section is located.
Have the desire to be curious beyond your boundaries, as well as the patience to learn everything gradually.
Maybe just want to expedite the process of exploration which isn't a bad thing so your own exploration at the least isn't that difficult for you, maybe a little introduction video on how to navigate the forum can be helpful, I'm sure that not all newbies are pressing the HELP tab on the upper left so I don't see how harmless can a small video tutorial can do and if you actually let people at the least watch this before they complete their registration, we might help cull the amount of spammers registering new accounts.
1076  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is it too late to seek a new beginning? on: December 07, 2023, 07:11:27 AM
As you have learned from joining bounty campaign that it isn't profitable or you can't earn decent amount of money from it and you decided to learn more about Bitcoin and crypto related stuff then that's good start in my opinion. Since you are looking for another way to earn money in the future then have you considered buying Bitcoin and hold it for as long as you want until it js sure to sell for profit.
Hodling isn't really earning money, I assume that OP is asking for a way to earn money without the hassle of having to hodl for long, you know something like joining signature campaigns and doing work and getting paid. Telling OP that learning is a good start isn't really the advise that OP is looking for but it's a good advise and to OP, if you want to earn satoshis here in the forum, you might want to check out the Services board, you might find some users that are looking for some services there although you probably need to have a profitable set of skills like programming or maybe even some sort of skill that involves computer or artworks.
1077  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I am a Bitcoin novice, somebody help. on: December 07, 2023, 06:13:06 AM
With the way people talk about Bitcoin, it shows that Bitcoin will turn to a major project in the future. I just want to have a place now. Even if I am late, I know in few years time, I will be earlier than many people.
The highlighted part means that you already have a good mindset already OP so I don't think that it's going to be difficult to teach you anyway about some stuff about bitcoin and how you can make benefit from it. I don't agree with you about bitcoin becoming a major project though, it's already there, you could've been right about that if it was around 2010 to 2012 as there's not a lot of people that's talking about bitcoin back then but now it's the future already. Stay and participate in this forum as much as you can and want OP, this is a good place to get answers for your questions, ask all of the curiosities that you have and people are bound to answer.
1078  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What will you do if your country did not legalize cryptocurrency? on: December 07, 2023, 05:30:07 AM
What will you do if you are a fan of bitcoin but your country did not legalize cryptocurrency?
Long as I can still do a P2P transactions on it then I don't mind bitcoin not having a legal status in my country, I love bitcoin but if the worst thing has come where it's being criminalized to even own one then I would probably just stop using bitcoin until I can get out that country and then reap the profits there, I don't want the hassle of having to deal with hiding just to use bitcoin, in a way it's like I'm hodling my bitcoins out of fear that I will be criminalized for owning one. Hopefully my country is always as backwards thinking as it always and just stay in the gray as long as possible.
1079  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Looking to sell a computer to raise money to invest in Bitcoin. on: December 07, 2023, 04:05:26 AM
What do you use that computer for? If you're using it for your school and such and you are also doing some side hustles with that work then wouldn't it be counterproductive for you to sell that? I mean you could probably do more work with a computer and get more value out of it than just selling it and buying bitcoin right now and waiting for bitcoin to go up in prices, that 100 monthly investment is already a good number to put in bitcoin so don't be too hasty, you might want to leave some money for yourself in cases that you need a quick cash, it's going to be a problem for you if you were to have an emergency and you don't have a quick cash to pick up and you end up having to take some in your bitcoin stash.
1080  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Investing - DCA on: December 07, 2023, 03:39:42 AM
I say that it would do you better to just invest in bitcoin only, maximize the potential profit by buying more right now when the price is just starting to run hot with the anticipation of the bull run and with the halving still in the near future, best believe that you're going to be better off investing in bitcoin only. I'm not saying it's bad that you're investing in Ethereum but think about it, there's going to be an altcoin season after a bitcoin bull run anyway, it's wise to go for taking a profit at bitcoin first and then trying to get in Ethereum after.
