1083  Economy / Gambling / Re: How does AI gambling sound? on: May 01, 2023, 09:20:28 AM
In the future maybe. Right now I don't think AI can make an educated guess like this. Or maybe it will but in the end it is not going to make you rich because I am not sure if the current AI is that smart. I mean it will give you an answer if you force it but the answer is probably be a bullshit one and won't be any better than tossing a coin. If somehow AI becomes as advanced as you said, then it will be the end of the gambling industry.
1084  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The psychology of betting..... on: April 30, 2023, 05:50:29 PM
Out mind is just looking for a possible instant where we can have an advantage so when it is delivered on some pattern, we thought that we find the secret pattert to succes but eventually, our bankroll will get depleted using that key to success thing.

That only happens because we don't understand the basics gambling and math behind it. Everyday people re-discover martingale and other crap strategies like it. When they find out about it, first they think they are onto something that nobody knows about and it is going to make them rich. They try and see that's not happening and they are indeed not the first people who discovered these "strategies". If they are stubborn about it, they will try other "strategies", other patterns which are also derived from the original martingale... and they will fail as well. If they are smart enough, they will realize that they ain't getting rich this way. If not, they will keep playing till they lose everything they got.
1085  Economy / Economics / Re: Refusal from USD - where are the topics ? on: April 30, 2023, 03:05:00 PM
The dollar is sick and dying. The funny thing is, the FED is not helping. They only worsen the situation with every move they make. China, Russia, Iran, Argentina, Brazil, India, Saudi Arabia... These countries are fed up with the American bullshit and they want to move forward without them. USA is always threatening them and actually banned some of them from the SWIFT system. Now these countries are forming an alliance, effectively they are sanctioning the US from the rest of the world. USA should have played it nicer but now that was too much to ask. Instead they made everybody angry.
1086  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are there any Bitcoiners here who are living offgrid? on: April 30, 2023, 06:34:43 AM
Offgrid? It is my dream to like that too but I think it is nearly impossible to live like that. How do you produce your water and electricity? In where I live it is not even completely legal to produce my own electricity. They won't care if my consumption is low (less than 1MW) but if they figure out that I am not connected to their grid and using only my own electricity which I get from the solar panels and windmills, then they will fine me. The limit is as I said earlier, 1MW which is not bad but the key factor here is that they also want me to pay for their grid. It means I should stay connected to their grid and pay them a monthly fee even though I don't use it. That alone kills the offgrid fantasy.

It's difficult to understand how it could be applied to van dwellers though. Maybe they will try to force us to use environmentally damaging electric vehicles, and force us to charge them with the electricity they generate by burning fossil fuels and ancient forests.

Vans are a different story. You can do whatever you like in a van in my country but then it will be hard to find a parking place. Sooner or later it is going to be a problem.
1087  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin continue to safe life in the face of financial crisis on: April 30, 2023, 06:03:44 AM
I don't know how Bitcoin is a life savior in your story. If you're stuck in the desert, Bitcoin can't actually help you. Water is your life-saver. A group of travelers is a life-saver. An oasis is a life-saver, but not Bitcoin.

If I'm stuck in the middle of the desert for 3 days, Bitcoin won't probably give me joy. What will give me joy is that bus that will finally fetch me away from that hell and impending death.

Actually, in circumstances like this, cash proves to be much better than Bitcoin.

You have a point. I am sick and tired of seeing these pointless articles that picture bitcoin a solution to every world problem. There is war? Bitcoin solves it. There is drought? Bitcoin solves it… People won’t even think about buying bitcoin (and they won’t be able to) in these situations. And even if they did before these bad stuff happened, they won’t make a use of their coins till they move to another country. How are they gonna take care of themselves before that happens? Nobody in Sudan gives a damn about crypto probably. Can they even access an exchange and make trades?
1088  Economy / Economics / Re: I bought Apple stock because iPhones are garbage. on: April 30, 2023, 05:51:07 AM
Iphone is a great product and apple is a great company. I don’t understand why you said their phones are garbage. They outlive every android product in existence. People still use IPhone 6s’s today and they still work fine. How many years passed since Ip6s happened? 7? 8? I think their stock is always a good buy too. Every investor should own some aapl in his portfolio.
1089  Economy / Reputation / Re: Heads up on this user on: April 29, 2023, 02:09:19 PM
Hi everyone, a few days ago he made a post here asking for someone to do a data entry job and he also had one before about designing images.

He agreed on making a deal but after asking for atleast an escrow or a downpayment he no longer respond to my message.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=3544144

There is no money involved yet but I just want to put this as a warning incase he makes another post here asking for help. Atleast a decent guy will reply that he no longer need someone for the job instead of ghosting.

I don't see a problem here. What do you want from us? Distrust him, tag him or flag him just because he stopped responding? Ghosting is not a crime. It is not ethical but being not ethical isn't a crime too. If you need a service you can create a topic and give out the details. You can state there that you won't do any business unless each party agrees to use an escrow. That way you will guarantee that you will only be getting applications from those who accept your terms.
1090  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why gambling and mixing called bad actors in bitcoin on: April 29, 2023, 05:14:06 AM
From my experience and observations, I noticed both Bitcoin mixing and online gambling using Bitcoin are mostly regarded as bad actors in Bitcoin despite both being the highest Bitcoin adopters and having the largest Bitcoin volume in transactions and services.
Secondly, if Gambling and Bitcoin mixing services are called bad actors, what about centralized exchanges are they also perceived as bad actors in Bitcoin?

Gambling is not liked in every country in the world. It is not specific to bitcoin. In some countries, gambling is completely forbidden. In my country for example, only the games provided by the government is allowed. Bitcoin is opening up a great opportunity to the people that don't want to get robbed by the government. I said this before, bitcoin's best use case is probably gambling. Because of that reason, it will never die.

Mixing coins on the other hand is a gray area. You may want to stay anonymous and there is nothing wrong with that. However, other people that use these mixing services might not be that innocent. And you don't know if you are getting their dirty coins or not. I am not really a fan of them.
1091  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Don't claim to be an investor if it's still like this on: April 28, 2023, 06:26:36 PM
Almost 99% of investors want to deposit today, tomorrow they will become sultans.  Actually it can't be like that.  It could be possible that tomorrow it will be a loss and the next day it may still be a loss.

They are not investors. They are gamblers. Investing takes time. It takes multiple years, sometimes decades. Ask Buffett about it. He would say "Our favorite holding period is forever." That means a lot if you are capable of understanding it. It means if you know the asset that you are buying well, why worry about its current price? In the long term, it is guaranteed that it will be more expensive than today. In the short term, who cares? Prices can get manipulated in the short term but you can't fool anybody as the time passes.
1092  Other / Off-topic / Re: Best laptops for crypto on: April 28, 2023, 05:10:15 PM
Please recommend a good laptop for crypto..
I want to use it for exchanges and holding crypto (wallets)..

Pretty much any laptop? Acer, Dell, Asus, Lenovo, MSI... These are all well known brands. I used HP too but somehow I don't like them. Mine was getting too hot. I used Acer, Asus and Dell before and never had any problems with them. Asus and Acer were great. Some of my friends say Lenovo is making great products too but I never tried them.

The thing is, any of these good brands are making good laptops. You just need to use the right operating system on them. So, whatever you get, don't get a Windows machine. Get something freedos and install a linux distribution. It will be the best thing you will do to yourself.

Also don't get a bulky laptop. Get a slim one with a very good battery life and a good CPU. Everything else is noise. Never ever think about playing games on your laptop. You will fry it.
1093  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: I don't know if am right or wrong about this. on: April 28, 2023, 04:48:02 PM
Trading of bitcoin has been one of my source of income for quite some time now but find it difficult to tell some other persons to engage in trading because of the risk involved.
...

You shouldn't discuss these matters with your friends or family members especially when you are good at what you are doing. Some of them won't believe you, some will get jealous, some will want to learn and mess it up badly... In the end you will have to death with all those different people and it will become tiring. Why spend your energy on them while you can make even more money? In the end your friend will probably not get it right, lose money and blame you for it. Nope. Don't do that. It is best not talk about any money business at all.
1094  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The madness of gambling addicts. on: April 28, 2023, 05:01:21 AM
I think big casinos should create a fund to be used for the recovery of the gambling addicts. I am not saying that the casinos are responsible for what's going on but it would be a good will gesture. Or maybe they should donate some of their profits to an organisation like ncpgambling.org.

Our mission is to lead state and national stakeholders in the development of comprehensive policy and programs for all those affected by problem gambling.  Our purpose is to serve as the national advocate for programs and services to assist people and families affected by problem gambling.  And our vision is to improve health and wellness by reducing the personal, social and economic costs of problem gambling.

I am pretty sure the casino owners don't want these problematic players that steal from their family members to continue playing. These people need to be treated and since they lost all of their money to the casinos, maybe the same casinos should give some of their profits back to those people so they can recover.
1095  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The psychology of betting..... on: April 27, 2023, 04:44:39 PM
As humans, we are conditioned to look for patterns in life and we gamblers try to make predictions based on what we see, while we are gambling. The reality is that these patterns does not exist, but we like to pretend that they do because it helps us to bring order to the chaos that are gambling.  Roll Eyes

Some people seem to think that your bet size will increase your chances to win, but that is simply a myth. The reality is that it simply means your payouts will be bigger when you do win.

A lot of my friends believe that it is better to spin the Slots manually, because "Auto spin" are rigged by the casinos... but that is also a myth. A lot of things come into play when a bet is made and it has nothing to do with the "auto bet" feature. (Client Seed / Server Seed & RNG and RTP ...)

Have you pressed the "bet" button, before the reels have stopped.. thinking that it will give you a favorable outcome on your bet? Well, I have news for you... the outcome has been decided in milliseconds after you pressed the button for the bet, the GUI interface happens long after that to display the outcome of the bet to you.  Grin (Go into the developer mode of your browser to see this)

What patterns do you see and how much do you believe in it?

I agree in general. When you play a luck based game, any of the possibilities can happen. People do martingale thinking that it will save them but then they lose 10 times in a row and boom then they need to wager a lot more to save their initial bet. When they lose 11th time, all of their stack will be gone. That's the most famous trap the gamblers fall in. Gambling is all about passing the time in a fun way. It is never about making money When the players forget that simple fact and try to make a living out of gambling, everything falls apart.
1096  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: PayPal Vs Bitcoin: Who is the Big Guy? on: April 27, 2023, 09:20:45 AM
What is with these all knowing super-newbies? Is AI taking over bitcointalk?  Grin iBaba has only 2 posts and creates a big wall article thread and then the other dude zezaiement comes up with a very detailed mega answer. Something is fishy here.

Anyway..

PayPal is a company and it is centralized. Bitcoin is a commodity/payment system and it is decentralized. It is pretty clear who is the big guy here. Tldr; You can kill paypal, you cannot kill btc.
1097  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Another bank again on: April 26, 2023, 06:17:45 PM
We need to see more of these failing companies. Any company that made bad decisions in the past should suffer the consequences of their actions. They should go bankrupt so their capital gets released and somebody else will replace them and do a better job. That's what capitalism is all about. If a company does bad practices, they need to go down so another company that is better at doing the same thing can replace them. The customers need to be smarter when choosing a business partner too. They need to stick to the bigger and safer banks so their capital will be safe in an event like that.
1098  Economy / Economics / Re: Why is Inflation Happening All Over the World At Once? on: April 26, 2023, 06:09:51 PM
It is happening because of the lockdowns that happened in 2020 and 2021. The whole world economy stopped for many months. People didn't go to work and the governments handed them out free money. The central banks all around the world printed billions and billions of their local currency. You don't have to be a rocket scientist to see why is that happening. People that are governing us, people who are supposed to be smart, they all fucked up pretty bad... or.... this was all intentional. Which one you believe? Do you think they are stupid?
1099  Economy / Economics / Re: Investing Addiction. on: April 26, 2023, 09:05:52 AM
I think that's one of the good addictions a people can have. The other examples would be reading books, studying math, learning new languages etc... It is much better to get addicted to investing instead of spending your money on the worthless crap, At least your addiction is about making even more money your assets will make you rich in the future. Tbh I am one of those addicts and I couldn't be happier about it. I invest and in return my investments make me even more money so I can invest even more.  winwin
1100  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: I am only trying to stay safe by gambling less on: April 26, 2023, 08:28:53 AM
A wise decision. You can't lose if you don't play and sometimes that is as good as winning. Being an addict is the worst thing that could happen to a person and gambling addiction is one of the worst. Since you already mentioned that you are not an addict I think you won't be having a problem but many people that read these threads probably will. The same idea applies to trading as well. If you don't trade you can't lose. That's why most OG people tell the newbies to hodl their coins instead of gambling or trading them.
