1401  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: High Transaction Fee - 38%...am i doing something wrong.. on: January 08, 2023, 05:54:54 PM
Loyce is right.

Go to Tools->Preferences, change Base unit from mBTC to BTC and try to make the transaction using BTC as denomination.

Even more, you should be able to set the fee to 1 sat/vByte, which should get your transaction confirmed before tomorrow morning. But first change to BTC, since you were sending too low amount to the casino.

Bitcointalk-Nutzername: NeuroticFishPreis 31.

1403  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Best crypto news is here on: January 08, 2023, 02:38:22 PM
I think bitcoin.com is best

That website is owned by bcashers, who, last time I've checked, were still trying to convince the world that their altcoin is the true bitcoin.
This being said, simply I don't trust their news are always correct/good.
So I'd recommend looking for other news sources too.

I will add some possible entries to "the list":
https://defidive.com/news?filter=bitcoin
https://bitcoinmagazine.com/

And for the actual info (not news) on bitcoin:
https://bitcoin.org/
https://learnmeabitcoin.com/
https://en.bitcoin.it/
1404  Other / Off-topic / Re: Virtual Cards For Online Sportsbooks and Casinos on: January 08, 2023, 01:25:53 PM
Could you kindly recommend virtual cards that online sportsbooks and casinos will accept for deposits and withdrawals without revealing my bank information?

This can be used by the new IFNs poping up like mushrooms. Some of them use virtual cards (too). The most known is Revolut, but it really depends on what country your residence is in. (I don't know which of them support well the online casinos and sportsbooks, that's up for your further research).
Plus, from what I know, even Google Pay/Apple Pay hide your card/bank information, exposing actually a virtual card (I don't know how or if it can be used online, not that much experience in that).

However, as the others said, why don't you just use the online services that accept bitcoin/crypto? This should be much safer and better.

Gazeta's Escrow Service

This looks easy, but can also be, at times, extremely difficult, tricky and with a great potential for troubles.
I wish you best of luck and may all the trades you'll be escrowing be nice and smooth!

I think you meant you can have it on airplane mode but it can easily be turned off, right? Cheesy

Some voices are not convinced that everything can be properly turned off, see https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5377997
And, in your case at least, the point it to not turn everything off and use it as every day smartphone, isn't it? And that's, by far, much riskier.

Deci... principalul portofel in discutie ar fi Metamask.

1411  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Are there any smartphones out there that are hard wallets too? on: January 07, 2023, 12:58:52 PM
Is there a way to add hardware into a phone that is separate from the phone itself but can still interact with it from the inside to sign transactions and truly keep your bitcoins in your phone?

It is, but it was discussed and it's a very bad idea (read below). Plus, it makes the phone unnecessarily more expensive for people not needing that feature, hence not good for business.

And if someone stole the phone, they still have to unlock it with possibly a passcode, Face ID, Touch ID, and any other walls of security such as passwords to open apps.

I’ll have plenty of time to restore a wallet real quick I guess while the monkey whole stole my phone tries to get inside it.

Unless that monkey also steals you (or a picture of you) or your finger, or the last items you've had your fingerprints on.
No. Phone security is weak and "the monkey" may move your money out before you even notice the phone is missing.

----
And about your initial question, I think hat Samsung had ideas in that direction, but a quick search has only revealed this topic (2021) and this one (2019) on the matter.
1412  Economy / Gambling / Re: Satoshi Auction - Bid on a prize where 98% of each bid is added to the prize. on: January 07, 2023, 11:31:07 AM
I still can’t give a feedback on this game since each game is so long to end especially when you enter on a bidding war. Whose bidding on game 32?  Roll Eyes

You have a valid point about the length. But this is meant to be a bidding war game, isn't it? So without a tiny bit of bidding war, it cannot be a proper review.
And if you pay attention, all the people bidding in game 32 are from the campaign, so it's not that far from bitbollo's "take a group of friends" thing Cheesy
1413  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to get a hardware wallet in a bitcoin banned country? on: January 07, 2023, 11:19:53 AM
So can you give me a proper suggestion on how I can purchase a hardware wallet completely safely.

Some ideas (not all may be good).

1. Learn to configure yourself cold storage. Especially for Bitcoin it's easy.
2. Look for DYI hardware wallets, see the DYI part of this topic. Still, most may be Bitcoin only.
3. Get somebody trusted on the forum buy you a Nano S Plus, take it off the original box, send you only the device (you can find data cable without others' help) and ask him to put it into a box with other USB sticks, maybe it goes unnoticed.
4. Get somebody trusted from a neighboring country buy it for you and then go in person to take it.
1414  Economy / Gambling / Re: Satoshi Auction - Bid on a prize where 98% of each bid is added to the prize. on: January 07, 2023, 10:24:10 AM
This is my review for Satoshi Auction (part of this campaign).

Chapter one: some thoughts while exploring the website and the game.

First contact: looking up the rules and also a little into actual and older games. And the first bid.

I will not say much about the UI, such a game doesn’t really need a too sophisticated one, still, a nicer UI (i.e. more colors, maybe some animation) should make the website more appealing for the potential players.
...But maybe it’s already in the ToDo list. For now it looks more like a proof of concept than actual place for gambling/having fun.

The rules are not clear.
There’s “the prize” and there are bids. But:
* maybe I need one more coffee, but I needed to read the rules twice to see that all the bids (OK, 98% of them) become part of the prize, being added to ther starting 10k satoshi
* it’s not clear what could be the minimum bid, and I would not be surprised some will try to send even amounts smaller than the dust transaction; it could help to state a minimum
* it doesn’t state what happens if I make a bid, then I send again from the same address (is it added to my bid or is it another one / is the input that matters or the address?); this should be cleared, else some may try and abuse this (with or without success, equally bad) -- LE / update: from following the game, only the inputs are counted as bids; somebody has tried to deposit a small amount from same address and it was not added to his max bid // this clearly needs to be stated
* deadline is not clear – is it the last block when I can send or it’s the last block when it has to be taken into account. That’s 6 blocks difference, if I understood it right.
* what is “confirmed block height”? - one more thing that would be needed into the documentation: a clear definition of terms (I understood later, you work with current actual block height–6 to address the 6 confirmations, still, I recommend documenting better).
* Since the closing times for a game were getting close to an end, I was afraid to bid (because of not 100% clear block rules); luckily somebody else's bid was about to get confirmed and I waited to bring the (too) generous time blocks increase. Then I've made my bid.

Second day and following the game...

* I am not sure how can somebody win this game against one or more determined opponents. Of course, it’s good for the bank, as fees, but maybe a hard limit could spice up the game. Maybe even a hard limit as time, not as block number (just imagine if we’d play for time… my first confirmation for my first deposit came after ~45 minutes Cheesy)
* after the first counter-bets people are already complaining that each new bet makes the game too much longer and I agree, it kinds spoils the fun, maybe the blocks increase after each bid should be lowered?
* since we cannot realistically expect people bid really big amounts, maybe the 6 blocks confirmation is a bit of overkill… just saying…
* I think that my (first) bid was credited only after 7 confirmations, but maybe I didn’t read the (block) numbers right
* automatic refresh of the auction page could be nice, at least after a confirmation of a related deposit is detected.
* I think that even a smaller bid prolongs the game with 144 blocks. I strongly believe that this is a bug, not a feature.
* I've made some bids on another games too, I see no good reason bidding more and more and making game 32 end forever.

Third day

* Game 32 has ended, expectedly, I've lost  Cheesy
* My other games ended and my strategy paid off, I've shared the win with somebody else instead of fighting for it. The coins soming in have unconfirmed parent, maybe this could be optimized.

Chapter two: something between an actual review and conclusions

The website looks more a proof of concept than the actual game. The UI needs to be nicer. The documentation lacks clarity and also some things are missing (eg minimum amount to bid or what happens attempting to make smaller bids than the current max or when attempting to "add to a bid").

The gameplay is simple, but it can last forever, especially between determined players with big wallets. I guess that this is the aim, but I don't know if this will actually ever happen.
For now the game is somewhat boring and the lack of adrenalin may not make it appealing enough for the gamblers (and if it's so for small ones, the big ones won't come either). It's nice to try to win, but it can easily become a game of "who give up first or forgets to bid more". I advise fine tuning and decreasing the times in a way or another.

Also a determined person could just try to collect all the new games as long as there’s not too much interest from the potential players. Hence I think that there should not be so many new games or, I don't know, something to be done to limit the use of this game as some sort of (fat) faucet.

Unless some big change is done in the gameplay I fear that there won't be too many players willing to bid more than the house's prize, hence for now it looks like the house is always losing. Not good for the owner.

PS. I could add images and say what the others also said in the days while completing this, but imho that doesn't make much sense, so I stop here.
1415  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Ukrainians hijacks Russian Bitcoin, Donates it to Kyiv Charity on: January 07, 2023, 09:51:44 AM
Helping the Ukrainians is usually a very nice gesture. But this.... no...
Stolen money is stolen money, no matter it is (or not) from some Dark Web mostly used (or not) by Russians. And sending that (stolen) money to a certain charity has the potential to also taint the name of that charity.

War is awful. But if the "good side" too starts doing questionable actions.. it can end up to be seen as bad as the aggressors.
1416  Economy / Reputation / Re: Ban Evasion on: January 07, 2023, 09:38:57 AM
Leaving aside that the title is incorrect and that the OP is probably an alt who has it in for Royse777 for some reason,

I would not let this aside. OP is certainly somebody wanting to harm, no matter what, no matter he is unable to even comprehend the rules (because, let's get serious, this is not a newbie).

no one is struck by this? I mean, with the recent history and on top of that now he's sending PMs of who knows what and ends up temp banned. The Casino Critique thing was also via PMs.

What a gem, reminds me of Naim027, with the only difference that many people have gotten paid a lot of money thanks to him in his campaigns.

Actually I've done a tiny bit of research and it's about avatar campaign. And it's, by far, not uncommon to privately invite a couple of higher ranked users (eg members of CM campaign) for such campaigns. Still, it's the first time I see somebody (temp)banned for this. Whether he mass spammed or not, I don't know and I don't want to jump to conclusions without facts.
And even if it's one such PM, it is a problem, I won't deny the obvious, but I am almost sure the temp ban hurts him enough to not do this in the future.

However, your actions on this matter and the way of seeing all this don't picture you in a "Peace enthusiast"  Cheesy
1417  Local / Română (Romanian) / Re: Vinde Bitcoin fara KYC: ATM-urile Bitcoin Romania care respecta anonimitatea on: January 06, 2023, 12:27:48 PM
Hahahahah!

1419  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Guys, what electrum server you run on: January 06, 2023, 09:22:26 AM
I believe that fulcrum should be somewhere in the middle between electrs and blockstream/electrs.

It is. At least that's what mempool.space FAQ is saying. First it puts Fulcrum between the original Electrs and Blockstream's, and also tells:

Fulcrum requires more resources than romanz/electrs but it can still run on a Raspberry Pi, and it handles heavy queries much more efficiently. If you're having issues with romanz/electrs, Fulcrum is worth a try.

You made me read a little more into Fulcrum and the official documentation writes about "~40GB disk space for mainnet BCH (slightly more for BTC)", which should be much less than I've expected. For that I do have space, hence I've just configured it for local use and fired it up. Let's see how it goes.
1420  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: what are blockchains? on: January 06, 2023, 08:46:57 AM
My friends don't have much experience in crypto, and I often hear the word blockchain, so I want to ask all of my friends? namely, what is blockchain, its function and how does it work? please help to explain?

Blockchain is a special format of storing data. A special type of database, very good for decentralized and trustless use because, especially if built in the way Bitcoin's blockchain is done, they will not allow modifying data from the past.
The rest of info, especially details on what does Bitcoin's blockchain store and how, will be there in the links already provided by others.
