1421  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you still bother to engage non Bitcoiners? on: June 22, 2019, 08:16:20 PM
You're right. Everyone believes in what he wants. From the fact that you will convince the person of something nothing will happen. So do not waste your time and effort on it.

The catch is it is kinda hard. I've been telling friends and relatives about BTC and Crypto since Oct 18th, 2013.

So they have gone thru the following cycles:

The day I turned on my KNC Jupiter BTC Miner as a Newbie!

Oct 18th 2013 BTC   $150.00
Oct 18th 2014 BTC   $381.09
Oct 18th 2015 BTC   $265.33
Oct 18th 2016 BTC   $638.15
Oct 18th 2017 BTC $5,605.89
Oct 18th 2018 BTC $6,538.90
Oct 19th 2019 BTC $?

Current Price: June 21st, 2019 $10,728.37 10:20 pm CDT USA.

As you can see from the above as a date, it has been interesting what people NOT in crypto have behaved like

from 2013 till today 6/22/19

From 2013 to 2014: I was a genius!

From 2014 to 2015: I was an idiot!

From 2015 to 2017: I was a genius!

From 2017 to 2018: I was an idiot!

From 2018 to 2019: I was a genius!

From the trend above it is easy to see when BTC and crypto is dumping, regular folk will do everything in their

power (if they like you) not to bring up it is dumping. Most folk though like to show how wrong you are, because

they have no skin in the game. Then, of course, everyone, talks to you about BTC and Crypto when pumping!

Like NOW. All I get is texts of WHY I did not twist their arm and get them into BTC or Crypto (

pick your own date and year and rinse/wash/repeat with the same relatives and or other folks)

It is 'completely' unwinnable. Somehow I'm the bad guy because the assumption is 'back in the day' I had 'bad

communication skills on getting into crypto and Bitcoin, etc.

When you should buy Bitcoin, a person is 'too scared' of looking foolish. (I resemble that remark) and don't buy.

When it is pumping, you buy on the FOMO and hype, when the price is too high. Then many folks after this buying too

high dump too soon. Thus it is rinse/wash/repeat for that as well.

IF an ETF ever came to pass from SEC in the USA, perhaps something stable would come from this all. But as of

right now...no one listens when I tell them to buy (2 months ago) and no one listens when the price pumps to

HODL (present time)

it is human nature and likely an 'unwinnable' situation for anyone hodl'ing crypto in the manner above.

So hell, I just kinda 'nod' now on the above and if they 'really' want to jump in the Bitcoin and Crypto pool

they have to work for the advice now. It is too much to deal with on 'every frigging pump and then dump'

year by year. So mostly, I don't say crap about BTC and crypto anymore, other folks now do the work or are

ignored and/or unanswered. After the last 6 years, I just kinda 'tune it out' unless you really push me on stuff

like this and actually, act (even modestly) on my advice. That is just the way it is gonna be in crypto from now

on I think.

1422  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: LTC halving on: June 22, 2019, 07:58:29 PM
At the beginning of August, there is LTC halving. Does Btc and ltc move together or does ltc increase independently?

Bitcoin halving will be occurs on September next year but I am not sure when the litecoin halving will fall. So prepare for it and make your investment on LTC as early as possible.
Then I have heard they are planning to launch the debit card with the collaboration of some companies.

Litecoin halving is in 43 days. Litecoin Clock below:

https://www.litecoinblockhalf.com/

My 'hope' is with mimblewimble anonymous protocol being added to the Litecoin Wallet and the halving from 25 LTC to 12.5 LTC in block reward and also "supposed" I heard

today of an LTC 'debit card' in the works. That Litecoin will at least be above and stable over $200 USD. The reasoning is that Litecoin at $200 or above is NOT that far fetched

when you consider the 'train wreck', IMHO, of Bitcoin Cash ($480.40) and Bitcoin SV ($239.19). Again, IMHO, you'd certainly think with the 'halving' and mimblewimble alone

that Litecoin could sustain $200 to $300 price range on the block reward halving.

So my logic goes in buying 343 LTC on such a 'bet' starting on 4/9/19. So far it is looking WAY better than I expected.

Anyway, my long term HODL plan for LTC till halving and beyond.

1423  Economy / Speculation / Re: John McAfee Says- If Bitcoin Breaks 100k you can bet it will break a million on: June 22, 2019, 07:47:50 PM
John McAfee, the future presidential candidate says that If Bitcoin Breaks 100k you can bet it will break a million.

What's your point of view on this, let me know!

He is a fruitcake, a very rich fruitcake, but I hope he is correct!

My own view is we will FOMO/PUMP up to the ATH again, or some such. Then it will correct 30% and perhaps more with the usual FUD and/or Mt.Gox giving out Bitcoin, etc, etc.

IF Craig Wright was to prove he was part of the Satoshi Group with Dave Kleiman and Hal Finney (both have passed) to the current court case. Well, IMHO Bitcoin will drop to

less than 5K in a heartbeat, if not more. Then there are the 'supposed' USA IRS guidelines they promise to be in place by the end of the year. etc.

You know how it goes. As of right now, IF BTC got near the ATH on FOMO and the FUD came back to haunt us and it 'corrected' to above $10k as the sideways point.

I'd call that a win in the next 6 months.

Of course, I'd like McAfee to be correct at even 1/4 of what he is projecting. But then I'm not as rich as he is to live in a world of unicorns/rainbows and fairies ...

them's the breaks.

But I really, really like the idea that my 'current' worst-case scenario for the next 6 months is that Bitcoin will 'correct' in that time frame above $10k BTC.

As to 100k then 1 million? That would be great. I'd sell plenty before that point. But, too much push back from corp types like facebook, IRS, banks, etc for that fast IMHO

but again, would love to be dead wrong!

1424  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Libra the new crypto king on: June 22, 2019, 05:07:28 PM
maybe it was only libra to be the new king of crypto.
That is crazy. it isnt anything more then a tool to keep you spending money and get tied to facebook even more. Dont think things are secure just because facebook is running it.

You are correct. AT worst, this Libra coin will just act like a 'glorified' BitPay or Facebook 'PayPal'...but then again, even if that is all that comes from it,

just think of all the fees from 1.5 Billion Facebook users! If even 10% of the world users use this Libra coin, Facebook will kill this and make mucho bucks!

If you add the 'data mining' of purchases and tracking on to the 'regular' kind of stuff that Facebook is already doing, well you get even more data and thus, even more, $$$ the deeper

and bigger the data dive into your privacy.

Lastly, Facebook 'eventually' intends to act as a bank and allow 'micro-loans' to start for 3rd world nations and eventually to full loans and or interest paying like a bank.

All the above is a bit more than completely going to go Facebook's way, with all the issues it has with data and privacy and being too large with talk of breaking it up.

But from Mark Zuckerberg's viewpoint even a 'broken up' Facebook with MOST of the above is going to make him much, much, I mean, MUCH richer. Even if he simply

has Facebook broken up into other companies that specialize in most of the above. Getting around the anti-trust stuff. He will still be in control on all those entities anyway.

Indeed, even modest success in the above, he is gonna just kill it. Anyway, my view. Also from someone who a long time ago gave up on any privacy of any kind on Facebook

or anyplace else. That war was lost a long time ago.

Ok. I sold a bunch of BTC in early 2013 for like $35

Yeah, I may 'crack' again when it hits the ATH. I was pretty good at watching and HODL'ing 'mostly' all the way down to 3.2k BTC (Ack!)

But it took a 'lot out of my mental state' to say the least!

I could crack like a walnut at the ATH, if it happens again or beyond, just due to the 'trauma' and the 'possibility' of another major dump at that point.

I may dump 10% just to keep my sanity.

I May not be the HODL'er I once was but may be as good once, in selling some, as I ever was! (I'm such a wit!)

Just saying, I'd have to 'simply' deal with the cash in hand as a compensation (insurance) to avoid such trauma again. (yes, I am that wimpy!)

HODL'ing 'scar tissue' is a consideration.

Searing: Get your God Damn hat on.

As to the rest I CAN FEEL THE POWER IN MY LOINS!

Ahem.

Damn hard to put the hat on. It may be soon, however, the campaign pays 0.00035 BTC per post. Me thinks that may not last. But till then I'm whoring

As to the past, from the day I started mining (see below)

The day I turned on my KNC Jupiter BTC Miner as a Newbie!

Oct 18th 2013 BTC   $150.00
Oct 18th 2014 BTC   $381.09

Oct 19th 2019 BTC $?

Current Price: June 21st, 2019 is $10,728.37 BTC as of 10:20 pm CDT USA.

for being in 'mostly' full HODL mode. (Damn, that 10 BTC I sold at $3,965 in the depths of despair are kinda hurting right now) Sad

Man, I seriously just thought of you when we hit 10k, that's fucked up.

It was 13 BTC. I cracked like a 'nut' when it hit $3,965 and had a fit like a 9-year-old child (including screaming and tantrums) when I pulled the trigger.

I managed to recoup 3 BTC to make it only 10 Btc, rather than 13 BTC. Then of course at one time I had 12,965 Litecoin (now $143.03 I will not do the math I will

start to cry). I sold 'most' of it when mining to BTC along the way from 2013. 12,000 of the above more or less was below $2 prices. Sad

The catch is, you do this stuff long enough you KEEP SOMETHING and it all did not get piddled away or into dubious ASIC miners and/or just wrong timing (above)

WTF it is only money, right? I still have plenty of crypto should it all go 'Tulips' as folk still claim. Still, since 2013 this has and still is a hell of a lot of fun. Smiley

Still having a good time with this pump even if it is going up too fast. But hell, I can take any 'correction' down to 10k. (sh*t I just said a correction down to 10k wow) Smiley

1428  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: June 22, 2019, 02:57:52 AM
I really wanna understand the thought process of someone who has followed Bitcoin during the low prices of the earlier part of this year and while not choosing to buy at 3100, 3500, 4000, 4500, 5000, 5500 etc just decides, "Hey I think Ill buy those green dildos ripping through the sky at 10800"

I mean Im glad they are pamping it, but why wait for 10k to buy? ? ? Where were these newbs and get rich quickers when we needed them during the terrible bear market? ? ?

Or do I have it all wrong and Central Bankers are buying this? ? ?

I was looking forward to a few years of pamping with corrections and retraces to keep it fun, but I suppose I can live with pamping to 100k by August if newbs(possibly central bank newbs) are willing to pay any price and buy every green dildo.

The only thing that I can think of (I know zip) is that 1) Big Money and Institutions MAY be coming to the conclusion that this crypto stuff is here to say 2) if they agree with me

USA policies are having a pretty good market pump but will eventually have a pretty good or worse market dump..thus a hedge to virtual gold ie Bitcoin  3) They realize that those in HODL

mode at these type of prices are likely NOT going to sell now if they have held down to 3.2k at the depths of decline. So, if they have seen the stats I have that 87% of all Bitcoin

has been mined. They may have just 'crumbled' and now are in full FOMO mode. Maybe even worse than 2017 in that, Bitcoin 'has' survived despite all.

What do I know? I"m in full HODL mode listening to silly music and living the moment. Full denial and going (even though this fast up is bad) go baby go anyway. Smiley

I always play the same thing on pumps/fomo nights like tonite 6/21/19 at 9:48 pm CDT USA. Secret Agent Man. The lyrics seem to work.

The way of thinking about the problem is fundamentally different from ours.
You say "dead", but Fujicoin's blockchain will never die. If all KNC Titan is broken, everyone should mine on the GPU.
The low price is not a big problem. It's a great opportunity to buy valuable Fujicoin cheaply. There are few investment opportunities like this. You should consider long-term investment without thinking about immediate profit. Thank the people who offer Fujicoin cheaply, and follow the Oracle of Omaha.
The big problem is that cryptocurrency has not yet obtained citizenship. Does your neighbor have a cryptocurrency? And are they using it? We are asked how to solve this problem.
POS and master nodes have a strategy of guiding the coin owners not to use them. Such a form is Bradcompatible with the idea of Fujicoin and does not seem to finally obtain citizenship.
Many altcoins are being delisted recently, taking into consideration US regulations. Coins to pay dividends are dangerous. We believe that POW is justice. So for the time being (10 years?) Fujicoin will follow Bitcoin.  Smiley

That is all well and good but from 2014 till around 2017 no one had any use of this coin. I suspect without something more innovative it will go back to a single hobby project for yourself.

Hey, it is your toy to do what you want with it. Just saying, IMHO, it is NOT a credible long term plan for success. Too static and unmoving. Your view of 'minor' 2014 differences as

a clone of Bitcoin from 2014, with the ONLY change since then, is to incorporate the segwitness and bitcore upgrades as they roll out, again, IMHO, is not enough. But I hope you

are right and there is a 'sudden' miracle of adoption of FJC. In that, last I looked my wallet is the 26th largest, that would be nice. But I have a mess of paper wallets of dead coins

since 2013 and unfortunately, almost all of them looked to have a better future than FJC does now. Looking pretty bleak. Good luck. But to me, it looks like FJC is going back to thru

a time warp back to 2014, oblivion. Sorry to sound harsh, but as the LAST of the scrypt-N coins on top of the rest of the FJC issues, it does not look promising. IMHO.

I would LIKE to be incorrect on this, but just listing FJC on a few exchanges are not gonna change what I see as the problems I've pointed out on this thread.

1435  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: So it is happening..facebook coin Libra on: June 19, 2019, 05:51:33 PM
However, it seems that the US government wanted to stop it at all cost,

https://www.cnbc.com/2019/06/18/rep-maxine-waters-facebook-should-stop-work-on-libra-cryptocurrency.html

Does the US government feel threaten with this "crypto" and afraid that it might disrupt their financial system? There seems to be a lot of hype surrounding this Facebook coin that it has to reach the US congress and that they're going to halt it or at least let Mark Z appear and answer to them.

I think it has more to do with the fact that Facebook was playing it both ways in saying they could not control hate speech the election tampering and the rest

but making $$$ on the FUD and such on its platform. Add to that the loose privacy issues and the rest and on top of that, just how damn big they are, well hell,

if I was a legislator, I'd probably want hearings also.

Also, the fact that when they announced this Libra coin, they plan on using it as they do Facebook pages, for advertisement and track your spending habits and

all that as part of the currency. That likely is what really set off the House wanting hearings. Give facebook even MORE data and now the same thing moves into

banking and currency and the like? Hell, banks can't give out your data in that manner.

But from Facebook's point of view, the money is in the data mining. So unsure, how profitable Libra coin can be, in its current state, if they have to act like a bank

and all info and such is private for data mining and Ads and the rest.

Yeah, things may not be going there way as they planned.

1437  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: So it is happening..facebook coin Libra on: June 19, 2019, 04:41:48 PM
I doubt if this libra token will be sold publicly before it enters exchange, not sure if any fund raising like ICO or IEO will be held at all, the whole project may be privately funded and a whole lot of these anticipations may not worth it for those that intend to jump in. It is long overdue, let them get it launched already

That is my question. You can use this coin on facebook but can you actually keep this coin in any manner outside of transactions?

For example, you get some facebook coin to make a transaction of say $100 worth, with the pegging on other currencies....it WILL ALWAYS BE $100...so

by 'token' you could just as well say 'a way to move $$$ and nothing else'

So, if I have this correct, Facebook would make $$$ off of you hodl'ing tokens and/or modest fee for using tokens and/or maybe interest someday vs your

crappy currency vs the USA dollar as a hedge. (In Venezuela at least your $100 in facebook coin would stay $100 after conversion of your local currency)

Thus, the last question, does this 'hurt' or help Bitcoin and other Crypto?

If Bitcoin continues to be used as a store of value, maybe. But if Libra takes over on the actual movement of $$$ back and forth at faster transaction times

and larger number and fewer fees...why would this be so?

Don't know, just tossing it out here for others smarter than me to say how this may help or hurt Bitcoin.

brad
1438  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: So it is happening..facebook coin Libra on: June 19, 2019, 02:16:44 AM
So when compared to bitcoin, if it is pegged to the various currencies, I see 'no way' that it can be used as a store of value like Bitcoin.
If it's going to be a stablecoin, I'd worry more about the future stablecoin projects (not so much about currently successful ones though - they already have a userbase)

That's unless they're going to do strict KYC, in which case it's probably going to have much less impact on other stablecoins. Don't see the whole stablecoin userbase following a Facebook KYC anytime soon.

How do you see this as affecting the future/price of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies? Being FaceBook and all, you just know they are going to have a lot more regulatory oversight

and KYC etc on the Libra Facebook coin

Right now I'm NOT too worried. But there is, IMHO, a possibility these 'stablecoins' put out by Facebook and others could regulate 'open source' Bitcoin and say only 'regulated' crypto

can be exchanged etc, etc. This does not seem likely IMHO, but nothing would please the powers that be in finance in government would be stablecoins replacing that pesky open source

cryptocurrency like Bitcoin/Litecoin etc.

Hopefully, because Facebook has said it will allow others to make wallets for Libra...this means 3rd party will make such...but due to the 'fast transaction' and supposed small fees etc of

Libra coin by Facebook. Some kind of scaling of crypto, be it BTC or whatever, better pick it up. Because IF not than the ONLY option likely would be BTC would still be a store of value as

the only position of worth that Bitcoin would have. Being replaced by fast transaction centralized controlled coins like Facebook Libra.

Brad
1439  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: So it is happening..facebook coin Libra on: June 18, 2019, 10:49:11 PM
https://www.pcmag.com/news/369019/facebooks-cryptocurrency-everything-we-know-so-far

Trying to find out if this facebook 'wallet' will take "other" cryptocurrencies. I think this is unlikely, but looking.

Looking further it seems 'very' unlikely. Though they do say others can make wallets. Perhaps the makers of those wallets will add other cryptocurrencies as well.

another link

https://www.nytimes.com/2019/06/18/technology/how-libra-would-work-for-you.html

So Libra facebook coin is a 'stable' coin based on different currencies. I think I read it will also be used for microloans and finance.

So when compared to bitcoin, if it is pegged to the various currencies, I see 'no way' that it can be used as a store of value like Bitcoin.

Thus, as some have been saying, this could 'help' bitcoin with its bid to be a store of value and 'virtual gold'

Then again, with the power of this facebook coin, perhaps it could go the other way. With governments ONLY allowing stable coins, 'controlled' and 'managed' like Bitcoin.

Anyway, my take on above links and some more info is needed on all this stuff. I still don't think we have 'seen' the main 'catch' yet for this Libra coin making Zuckerberg another

billion dollars or so.

1440  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: June 18, 2019, 10:23:31 PM
I believe this facebook coin will fail. Only boomers uses facebook these days and they dont have a clue how cryptocurrencies work. They will treat it as some generic digital coin, like those you use inside MMOs for example. It will be restricted to facebook, which is a dying platform, practically an icon of nocoinery and technological backwardness.
Just a reminder that Facebook means also Instagram +Messenger+ WhatsApp, this widens user base quite a lot, not only Dads on the internet then.

So the consensus I've read is this facebook coin Libra is going to 'help' Bitcoin in its role as a 'store of value'. Does everyone buy this?

Just curious. I could see this 'maybe' if the facebook wallet for Libra would also allow the use of another crypto like BTC/LTC/ETH etc, etc.

that, however, seems very unlikely.

I still like the fact that it is $10 million dollars a 'node' to run the blockchain network for this Libra coin by facebook.

Also heard on NPR today that this coin will allow for tracking your spending and personal data, etc, etc. That seems 'convenient' as hell.

anyway, was wondering what folk think in the WO board here on bitcointalk?

whatever crypto always drama!
