So when bitmain says, "IO board not included," I'm trying to figure out what this is? Is this "IO" something else I need to purchase separately to get the BB Board to work with my rigs? IF so, any idea of what it looks like or where I can get one? It doesn't make sense to me for bitmain to sell a BB board if there is no means of connecting it to the rigs. I'm at a loss here cause I'm totally ignorant of this and trying to learn. Will the BB board simply connect to the controller on the rigs [which is connected to the blades and fans] or will the BB board actually need this daughter board that will connect to the blades and the fans?
OK missed that. IO (Input Output) Board is what I have been calling the Interface Board. Your rigs will all have both an IO & BB Board fitted. Why are you wanting to purchase additional BB / IO Boards? Rich That's what I'm trying to get at... I have no idea why bitmain would sell this. This sounds like only PART of a Control Board [BB board without the IO]. WHY would they sell this? What is there for us to gain by purchasing this? Anyone? The BB tend to crap out regularly. Which means if you still have a working Daughter board you can just swap out the BBB and the SD card and it might start working again.

The BB board is like a RasPi board, but you need the daughter board, the other board you plug into the BB that has all the ASIC and fan connectors, to actually use the miner. I'm not sure that ordering the BB there is going to include a daughter board hat you would need. But i guess that if its the BB failing, you can re use the daughter board. I could not tell, however.

I prefer Antminer s7 on Avalon 6. The new Antminer S7 Plus is much more efficient.
There's not a S7+ version, am i misunderstanding? And now the latest batches of S7's have the same efficiency as the Avalon6, so not the only reason to stick with S7 is the GH/$, since the Avalon6 has a much better build quality.

The main reason that hold me back to sell physical item here is, even an escrow is being used, buyer could simply say it's not SSD when their shipment arrived. This is why I keep thinking if I should sell here or just sell elsewhere like local marketplace.[/b]
I already told you i'd have to prove that the package i received from you was not legit. I always make a video of the unpacking. I told you you were protected, especially for such a small amount. I then offered to trade, you waited the next day to reply to my PM even though you were replying to me here, then in the middle of the night gave me an ultimatum to reply to you immediately or you were selling to someone else. I don't think you're a scammer, i believe you are genuinely clueless about OgNasty but insulting him is not going to earn you many friends here.

True. I could have gone one size smaller. And curfs would be better. But ones i had it in i didn't feel like changing it.
Its all good. I'm building a shelf with sound absorbant panels; https://i.imgur.com/rwh2DUn.jpg?1To give you an idea. Thats an early pic when i completed the "proof of concept" stage, it look better now and the panels are actually solidly held now and easily slidable, but still not done. Next i'm adding sound proof vents so the air gets through but not noise. With the B8 S7 running loud, that is going to help a ton.

Seem very nice. Albeit i think that takes a lot of space for one antminer S7. But 50dB is really nice, and if the tube is curved, so the noise can't get out without hitting the inner tube, you get an easy control over the noise control.

1) Is it worth getting into mining if I were to buy 20 Antminer S7's and profitability calculators say I would only pay 33% of my revenue in electricity? Or does the halving of released bitcoins + the difficulty level shooting through the roof negate any reason to jump into mining?
2) I have looked at bitcoin as the answer to the impending fiat currency crash for a while now but the commandeering of the bitchain has shaken my faith in the system made for the people. Is there any reason to fear the legitimacy of bitcoin because of the loss of control of the bitchain to corporate interests?
3) Is there another currency that cannot be commandeered such as one that limits mining to one per IP or any particular corporate interest protection?
Thanks for spending time to respond.
1)Maybe, but it is a bit risky, the difficulty is raising sharply, which means you probably wont get a satisfying return before the BTC halving. At which point your profit is purely speculative on whether the BTC value go up. In this path holding most of the BTC you mine would be the way to go, but very risky as well. 2)The blockchain is not loss or put in control of corporate interest. Thats the point of a decentralized network, however the centralization of the hashrate is somewhat of a concern. 3)Not really, a coin can be ASIC resistant, but discussing Altcoins in the Bitcoin board is against this board's rule.

4) Good quality PSU has MTBF 100k-200k hours. This is reduced by fan lifetime.
MTBF is a oft quoted stat that often has ZERO basis in actual real-life experience. I've seen TONS of devices or items with 6 digit rated MTBF that failed to AVERAGE even 1 year (8760 hours appx) in ACTUAL usage. I have no clue why the "LED PSU" crap is even being mentioned, miners don't use "LED" PSUs on their miners as those PSU don't have the voltage/current capasity needed to power current miners and are NOT efficient. And that fan thing is kind of untrue(or can be), fans typically dont even spin on my PSU. Its really all about build quality. When a PSU's warranty cover 10 years it give you a hint compared to the 2 years ones, too.

The current choice of a basic miner should be S7 based on many things like price of the machine, BTC2.8 (BTC2.4 if one goes for 9th Batch), whereas one needs to pay >BTC3 which makes no sense as it consumes more electricity than S7 and produces lesser results...
Its quiet and much better build quality, but yeah. ASIC mining is pretty much all about ROI, so i can't say Avalon's model is very good to the small miner. Apparently you get much better prices if you buy in bulk, which is not really the case with the few cents saving per unit offer of Bitmain's.

Guys, can somebody tell me if Superflower Leadex 1300w Gold power supply is strong enough to run S7 batch 9 on stock settings?
Thx in advance
At low efficiency it should, with 0 overclock capacity, according to the stats on paper. I have seen very little real life data of how much power the B8+ consume, however.

So what is the fastest stable overclock on an s5? I have got a couple at 375 and briefly pushed it to 387.5.
Seem to mostly depend on the PSU quality, on EVGA G2's i mostly get 393, one take 400 before a loss, for 1.29 and 1.32TH. Thanks for the info Np. If you get server PSU with adjustable volt, i suspect you might be able to get significant overclock upgrade, at efficiency loss.

I've been looking for this miner also because its very quiet but most that I find for sale cost more then a brand new S7 in terms of Th/$. They got like a 7 months ROI with free electricity.
Ask for droid to sell to you instead of me then, his price is pretty acceptable imo. I'd pick one up but i'm dry on loose funds as i picked up a S7. And it doesnt really beat getting undervolted S3 in term of ROI. What's he asking? I figured you'd ask him directly. Well to hell with it, he said he could offer me one for 0.65, you're more than welcome to PM him and ask him if that price is doable for you. I pretty much told him my budget for these don't extend over 200$ even though i recognize thats a cheap ass price.

A 60 amp 240 circuit is good for 3 S7 correct? Will it do 4?
60 amp on 240 is 10 S7~ But i'm guessing on a 60A circuit you'd stop at 48A which is 8 S7~

Received my shipment confirmation for 1 batch 9 today. Purchased the B9 before the price drop so I received an e-mail letting me know that they would be shipping my B9 out on 04 January, earlier than the 20 Jan. date.
I thought the Batch 9 is the price dropped version? If it's before price drop then it's the Batch 8 version. I paid for my batch 9s right after Xmas, still show status as unshipped. Let's hope they ship it earlier than Jan 20th. Would be a nice bonus. Well both batch was dropped 150-200$ from what they were before this 2.85/2.4 price. It was after several big difficulty jump. So it could drop again in a bit because the difficulty is continuing to skyrocket.

Well It starts to beep before I can access the gui. And if I look at the hash it shows 30-40gh and then drops off. Now if it is hashing then realizes there's no fan. Guess I need to test. I don't see the chips getting super hot after boot as the heatsink D will barley be warm
It would take a bit of time to heat up, it would not get to 80c instantly, and typically you can access GUI before the hashing start. You might need to see if someone know a hardware fix to this. If not you may need a new controller or a image that has this safety disabled.

I have a s5 that decided it would not power the fans anymore. It tries to hash then overheats. I can login to the gui and see everything and it says fan speed 0. Tested fans there good. Tested psu it's good. Factory defaulted the unit and applied latest firmware and still no good. All boards show up just no fan power. Also reconnected all cable to make sure they have good connection.
Any ideas?
Did you try both fan connector? And if they're both dead, thats pretty weird, but your only option then is pretty simple, you're going to need to power the Fans strait off the power supply. You would ideally get a controller so you can control the fan speed. Otherwise they're going to be running full speed at all time. But if thats fine with you... Will it hash if it doesn't see fan speed? Oh, i see what you mean. It may have a protection where it will just beep if there is no RPM detected on Fan1. I do not know if there is a hardware or software workaround to override this protection, if it is active on your miner. But you said it would try to mine and overheat, therefore it is not?

At this point in the Bitcoin mining game I would say the best miner to start with would be the SP35 Yukon Power miner. https://vimeo.com/114685493It's $2,235 Which is expensive but it will pay off, now that the halving is coming we really have no choice but to buy expensive ass hardware. I've had some success with it. I would disagree with efficiency "0.66W/GH/s". If you already bought it long ago yes keep mining it until you sell it. But with .08 cents electricity if buying I would go current gen. After it is unprofitable then sell it. But going into old gear is hard at .08 cent's. Out of curiosity why would you say it is the best miner for OP? I say so because since the halving is coming up and more gh/s will be required, you need to buy more expensive sturdy hardware. But that hardware is dated, so i disagree with your recommendation, by far. Having a high hashrate per unit does not mean it is better return.
