1601  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Delay in transaction on: October 03, 2022, 04:30:52 PM
Op, you should note that you can only bump the fee if you enabled RBF when making the transaction. The only other option left is to wait till it gets confirmed, or in the off chance that it doesn't, till it's dropped from the mempool (~2 weeks).

CPFP - Child Pays For Parent is an option if you are desperate to have it sent now, and you're in control of the receiving address.

and also you need to be reassured that you have not fall a victim of double spending through the process after several attempts of resending the unconfirmed transaction.
Except the inputs involved where unconfirmed when they were used in a new transaction.

4. No shame in starting from scratch: using myself as an example I am starting fresh and going back to the very basics and I am not ashamed to admit that. The good news is that I am better experienced and more mature.
You should have started from the basics when you first began your journey. Knowledge is the first thing you gain when planning an investment, before you consider putting in your money.

With the current situation, you're not starting from the scratch, you're restarting now, with a bit of experience.
Many of the high ranked members here, might have made one or two mistakes during the start of their Bitcoin journey, and have learnt valuable lessons along the way.
1603  Other / Meta / Re: How to get a Rank promoted Can? on: October 01, 2022, 08:34:39 AM
How can I move up the rank on Bitcoin Forums?
How can you learn more about Bitcoin and benefit from the plethora of information available on this forum?
This should be your question and not how to move up ranks.

The primary goal of this forum is to be a hub of sharing information and engaging in constructive discussions. You can benefit from those discussions by reading more and doing your research. There's a search option on the forum, to dig into whatever information you need and you can always ask questions if you get confused on anything.

Protip; the search option would also answer your initial question.
1604  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: One way to avoid scam wallets on: October 01, 2022, 05:35:42 AM
The Arrival of Cryptocurrency to better our transaction and banking services has indeed lead to many scams.
Cryptocurrencies has not led to many scams, scams have been very common long before the first Bitcoin transaction was made, scammers just had one more option to perpetrate their scams through.
People have also been calling victims to phishing apps and links and losing money, even through their bank accounts.

People fall easily for scam wallets because of reviews and and ratings on Google play. Reviews on Google play does not guarantee a genuine wallets free from phishing or scam.
Always download from the official website of the wallet and not from Google play store. You can also verify the signature for extra confirmation.
1605  Other / Meta / Re: Here Is One Reason Why Legendary Members Get So Many Merits on: September 30, 2022, 11:39:42 AM
I see how many active forum users get a lot of merit, it inspires me, because I understand that it is possible, but I also see what kind of knowledge you need to have for this, and this is not an easy job and this is a well-deserved result.
I do not tend to get a lot of merit or consider myself to be very knowledgeable, especially about the technicalities of Bitcoin, but I would say that users do not get merits for any particular type of knowledge. There's no blue print on what you should know or how you should write; we have members here who focus on the gambling board, or economics, or mining, or trading and get merits there, while sharing useful information on topics they are interested in.

My point is, do not post a certain way inorder to fit in, particular when that topic does not interest you. Find your niche and grow your knowledge in that particular area. Wish you best of luck on your learning journey.
1606  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is crypto hot wallet that bad on: September 29, 2022, 07:11:22 PM
Hot wallets like trust wallet, pocket wallet, math wallet are the best crypto wallets among all.
This is terrible advice. Hot wallets are absolutely not ideal to be used as a means of storage, and the ones you recommended are not the most ideal ones to use.

I think it's also a good decision for your friend to store funds in those wallets. But we should backup phrase in a safe place.
Keeping a backup, when you wallet can be easily hacked from your wallet which is connected to the internet all the time?
1607  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Free, community-driven Bitcoin education project on: September 29, 2022, 03:13:45 PM
The website layout looks very well done and the information contained therein, accurate, for the most part that I read. Great job OP on creating this resource.

I'll definitely be visiting it more often to preen through the other pages in the work.
1608  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Comparing Craig Wright with the Core Developers and Segwit supporters? on: September 29, 2022, 03:04:00 PM
wonder why his name is still being mentioned here, They were just again trolling and want some attention which not gonna work for sane people. only those who are totally ignorant will believe them no matter what they say, they really need to back up their claim with concrete evidence and simply opinions won't get them anywhere at all.
I can't speak for why his name is being mentioned on this particular thread, cause I do not understand fully what motivated it, but from a general bitcoiner's perspective, you cannot afford to totally ignore CSW. His takes are as wrong as he is arrogant in delivering them, but there are lots of totally ignorant people out there who can fall for his crap, if it's not debunked as aggressively as he is spreading them.

The media is not doing a good job at stating how wrong his claim of being Satoshi is, so bitcoin enthusiasts have to do that job.
1609  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How strong are hardware wallets on: September 28, 2022, 03:24:47 PM
It depends entirely on where it is thrown away, the condition of the environment and the duration for which it is lost. Most hardware wallets would be made of some sort of plastic, and while it can resist a fair amount of damege, if it is exposed to harsh conditions (like rain, storm, degradation etc) for a long period of time, it's safer to assume it is lost.

if the founder know nothing about the key 🔑?
I believe you mean the person who bought the hardware and owns the keys, the founder of the hardware company should ideally not know what your keys or phrases are.
Also, if one does not have backups in safe locations, your bitcoins are not securely stored.
1610  Other / Meta / Re: No more banner advertising: what's next? on: September 28, 2022, 02:17:56 PM
<snip>
The forum is attractive now due to the traffic it pulls. Campaigns looking to get people talking about their project would consider advertising here, cause they are guaranteed to reach a large audience. If signature campaigns are removed, majority of that traffic would disappear over the coming weeks, greatly reducing how viable the forum is for running a spam campaign.
I've been on forums without the reach or traffic bitcointalk offers, and spam is barely a problem there.

100% might be a reach, but a huge chunk of spam would be cleared up without signature campaigns.
1611  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin thoughts on: September 28, 2022, 12:15:49 PM
The biggest risk is that Satoshi will put his keys to work and block the blockchain.
Satoshi cannot block the blockchain with his keys. Moving the coins from the wallet ascribed to Satoshi, that would cause a bit of panic among investors, as well as lots of media attention, but that would not affect the blockchain.
The possibility of a backdoor created into the protocol is unknown a this point.
1612  Other / Meta / Re: No more banner advertising: what's next? on: September 27, 2022, 09:42:51 PM
Yes, it is highly unlikely theymos would ban signature campaigns but it is not impossible to do. As long as he decides taking a particular course of action is in the best interest of the forum, he will probably do it but thankfully he has not indicated anything negative towards signature campaigns as far as I am aware.
Theymos has once or twice expressed that he's considered removing signature campaigns from the forum, but decided against it due to certain reasons. Here is one of such situations;
Signatures are going to be added back in at some point. Maybe the height limit will be smaller than here, though. I thought about removing signatures, since that'd really clean things up, but I decided that signatures (and especially sig campaigns) are too important to the culture here to remove.

If signatures are ever removed, it would clear up 100% of the spam which goes on here, but would also reduce a number of active users contributing positively, or reduce how much time they spend on the forum.
1613  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Importing private keys gradually to increase security and safety, will it work? on: September 27, 2022, 09:22:19 PM
Is there any disadvantages with my plan?
Anything that will not work?
Will it work at all?
• I can't foresee any disadvantages that you would encounter. Importing private keys would normally have come with the added risk of not having multiple addresses to send from, thereby, reducing the privacy of future transactions, but you're transferring out to a hardware wlalet either way

• It should work, if done properly.
1614  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Want to Know That How Can I Use BitCoin to My Business? on: September 27, 2022, 07:44:38 PM
There may be many more exchanges and wallets. But these exchanges and wallets are very reliable and very easy to use.
Some of those exchanges are not very reliable and advisable for one to use, and should not be used to store large funds.

Trust wallet is not recommended for use as it is a closed source wallet.
1615  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Want to Know That How Can I Use BitCoin to My Business? on: September 27, 2022, 05:51:17 PM
One of the most important factors when accepting transactions in crypto is speed of transactions, tx fees and the volatility of the market, to accept cheaper and faster transactions is to use Lightening network, and to avoid the volatility, you should use a payment processor which converts BTC payments to your preferred currency.

• Here is a list of payment processors you can self host to accept Bitcoin payments - BTCPay is the most recommended here on the forum... Full List,

• You can also use lightening network to accept Bitcoin payment at a cheaper rate and with faster transaction
1616  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What will happen If Bitcoin got stabled ? on: September 26, 2022, 09:30:35 PM
Whenever Bitcoin got stabled, All the market will be stable in a result of that.
Firstly, you should rather ask what happens if Bitcoin becomes "less volatile" and not stable. There is no stability in currencies and stable coins only exist cause they are pegged to other currencies. Those currencies they are pegged to are not stable.

Now to answer your statement above; No. If Bitcoin gets less volatile, this would not necessarily reflect on altcoins.

Question is that how Bitcoin can be stable?  If it got stabled that will happen?
Adoption and growth would reduce the speculative value of Bitcoin.
If Bitcoin became less volatile, nothing happens besides a change in how traders view it.
1617  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Can whitepaper still shows the weakness of a project and their team on: September 26, 2022, 06:14:33 PM
For newbies is a copied whitepaper still a red flag for projects? I heard they don't matter much anymore because big projects do the same thing too, if two projects have the same goals or utility one can copy the other, change some few words here and there?
What's a big project? If a project has no real value and only uses hype to attract investors, it's still a sham and newbies should avoid it
If a project has tried out a certain utility successfully, why copy their framework, and if they did it unsuccessfully, why copy a failed project?

What advice can you give me based on this? Is it right to say, yo any project that has a whitepaper that looks like another project is a scam or  bad for investment.
A whitepaper is meant to give all information regarding a particular project, a team should have the originality to create their own design, and if the can't, they should be avoided.
1618  Other / Meta / Re: No more banner advertising: what's next? on: September 26, 2022, 03:21:06 PM
Do we really need ANY advertising? I for one would be more than happy for the forum to be ad free !
The sites paying to get slots certainly need the advertising, that's why they pay for the slots.
Does the forum need the revenue from paid advertising, I'll normally have said yes, but considering theymos is considering shutting it down, then maybe not.

While paid ad slots may not be that necessary, the incentives from signature campaigns goes a long way to keep discussions alive on the forum. Many of the discussions are spam, but even genuine, constructive conversations would slow up if there were no signature campaigns.
1619  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hodlonaut Trial on: September 26, 2022, 07:20:44 AM
so all these alternative means are hardly convincing and even many times go the opposite of what CSW is supposed to be trying to show (that he is Satoshi).
They definitely are unconvincing, but that might not be the intention at all. CSW knows he's not Satoshi, and knows the public knows that too. He also knows he has no proof to convince us otherwise, so rather than convincing, he's intention might be to bully everyone to at best, not challenge his stand that he indeed is Satoshi, even if you do not believe it.

This sort of trial is straining on those involved. Hodlonaut would have wanted none of this publicity and financial demands that comes with the suit, many others would also not want that. So bullying people to silence, would leave none to challenge his stance or proof the inaccuracies in his position to the world, or court.
1620  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is dead (read more) on: September 26, 2022, 07:11:14 AM
Do you hold Bitcoin, if Yes, then you should sell off.
If No, then clickbait, spam posts like this are unnecessary. If you intention is to spread fud, no one is going to make an investment decision based off your post.

Also the world is collapsing
In that case, BTC should be the least of your worries.
